The thorny vines successfully punctured the tires of the three cars, so they stopped one after the other in the middle of the wide avenue. The soldiers got out of the vehicles full of suspicion, scanning the surrounding area with the sights of their guns. The only one to remain behind the wheel was the driver of the large prisoner van.
Sete and Ethan hid in the surrounding buildings, watching what the E.G.O. men's next move would be, while Bianca and Thomas made their way slowly and discreetly to their friends' position.
Four agents started checking the deflated tires, while the others stood guard around the cars. The driver was distracted by some kind of holographic device.
With everyone focused on their respective tasks, Sete found the right moment to act.
As her [Agriculture lv.1] skill had leveled up earlier, she had unlocked two other crops in the seed store: [Chamomile] and [Pumpkin]. Earlier, while hiding the thorny vines along the road, the young deity took the opportunity to scatter chamomile seeds in the area where the cars were likely to stop, which cost her 70 coins.
Chamomile is a calming herb with daisy-like flowers, so Sete spied the agitated men and stretched out her pale hand, her powers flowing from a distance and finding each tiny seed on the sidewalk.
It wasn't long before a sea of white petals lined the ground around the cars, which immediately set off a red alert in the agents. There wasn't much they could do, however, as a yellow-translucent pollen took over the environment.
As it was an open area, the effects of the wind-blown pollen had diminished considerably, so the men were only a little dizzy and drowsy. This was reason enough for Sete to rush forward, already transformed into the slender wooden woman with long flowery hair.
She noticed that she only took on the appearance of her old self when she used most of her powers at once, which was due to the distance and the amount of seeds she had to infuse her ability with.
Stunned by the pollen, the soldiers thought they were hallucinating when this unknown and graceful creature ran up to them. Some dropped their fingers on the triggers of their guns and fell to the ground with the force of the shots, whose bullets flew aimlessly in various directions.
Sete summoned his familiar spear through an orange seed and took down the first four E.G.O. agents in quick movements, throwing their rifles away.
In the meantime, the remaining men were able to reason out what was really going on and, seeing the mysterious creature turn towards them with its glowing green eyes, they took aim and started firing.
Without much thought, in a natural reflex, Sete raised her arm in front of her head. The movement caused a handful of corrupted grass — escaping from a crack in the nearby asphalt — to grow over her, curving protectively around her body and resisting the shots.
When the soldiers stopped to reload their weapons, Sete lowered her shield and jumped onto the grass, hitting the three men with heavy blows from the handle of her gun and knocking them unconscious. At the same time, the driver of the van full of prisoners seemed to realize what was happening and tried to get away, speeding up the car.
The shriveled tires gave off a dark, fetid smoke, but they weren't fast enough to escape.
Grimacing at the horrible smell of burning rubber, the young deity took some pumpkin seeds from her pockets and threw them towards the fleeing vehicle.
She stretched out her free hand and, releasing a great wave of greenish power, made the plants sprout while still in the air.
Within seconds, an explosion of vines and leaves covered the van, the overgrown and sturdy plant firmly entangling itself in the bodywork and wheels.
The reinforced vehicle was lifted a few centimeters off the ground, one of the vines infiltrated the gaps in the car door and wrapped itself around it as it grew, tearing the piece off like opening a can of sardines.
The driver screamed as a vine wrapped around his body like a tentacle of unimaginable strength. He tried to draw a pistol from his waistband, but was thrown away before he could pull the trigger.
Sete was already feeling the weight of using her powers as indiscriminately as she had done, but she still retained her true form. She approached the door behind the van in slow steps, ripping off the many heavy locks with her wooden hands.
Ethan, Bianca, Thomas and Kai also approached, watching carefully as the Spring practically peeled off the back of the vehicle.
