Chapter 226 - CHAPTER 226

Chakra Gun

Hinata grabbed Naruto's arm, her Byakugan activating as veins bulged around her eyes. She spoke seriously, "I'll go with you this time. I've already mastered the Gentle Fist Art of Twin Lions, so I won't hold you back anymore."

Naruto glanced at her, then nodded, taking her hand as he activated the Body Flicker Technique.

In an instant, they reappeared near their teammates. The members of both squads immediately noticed something off about Naruto and Hinata's expressions. As they whispered among themselves, Naruto quickly explained the situation.

After hearing that Sasuke was in danger, the two teams dashed deeper into the Forest of Death.

On the way, Karin looked pale, clutching her chest dramatically. She sighed, "Bai, my love for Lord Mianma ended before it even began… This is the greatest pain in the world."

Haku raised an eyebrow, suppressing a chuckle. "You and Mianma are from the same clan. He has always treated you like a younger sister."

Karin straightened up, her expression firm. "Even if he sees me as a sister, I won't give up on love! Besides, younger sisters are more important than lovers."

Haku turned away quickly to hide his smirk.

Minutes later, Naruto and Hinata reached the depths of the Forest of Death, where the sounds of battle rang out. Rocks and broken trees flew through the air as Sasuke and his teammates clashed with Kimimaro, the last surviving member of the Kaguya Clan.

Naruto assessed the situation. Since Sasuke's life wasn't in immediate danger, he chose to observe rather than intervene right away. He casually pulled out a bag of sunflower seeds and potato chips from his backpack, handing some to Hinata.

"Distribute these to the others," he said.

Hinata hesitated. "Mianma-kun, shouldn't we be helping? Sasuke is your friend."

Naruto remained indifferent, pointing at Kimimaro. "See that white-haired guy? He's the last ninja of the Kaguya Clan. Are you interested in recruiting him?"

Hinata frowned, deep in thought.

Naruto continued watching as Sasuke fought Kimimaro. Despite his progress in training with Kakashi, unlocking his three-tomoe Sharingan, and reaching near-Jonin level, Sasuke was struggling. Kimimaro, even in his weakened state, was far stronger, especially with the Cursed Seal of Earth, which allowed him to harness natural energy.

Kimimaro's Shikotsumyaku (Dead Bone Pulse) granted him nearly impenetrable defense and incredible offense. With his bones as weapons, he was a true nightmare in close combat.

Sasuke, however, wasn't backing down. He formed hand seals, his Chidori crackling with electricity as he lunged forward. The lightning-coated blade pierced through Kimimaro's bone armor, cutting into his arm.

But Kimimaro merely smirked. He twisted his bone dagger and counterattacked.

Sasuke immediately let go of his weapon, throwing a kunai with an explosive tag attached. As the explosion created a smokescreen, he distanced himself and analyzed his opponent.

Apart from Gaara, this is the strongest opponent I've faced.

He stole a glance at the treetops, searching for the surveillance cameras scattered throughout the Forest of Death—tools used by the Chunin Exam proctors.

His heart sank. Most of the cameras had been destroyed.

This means Kimimaro isn't an exam candidate. He's an outsider. This attack is deliberate.

Realizing the danger, Sasuke moved back toward Sakura and Sai. "This guy isn't a participant," he said calmly. "You two retreat and alert the proctors."

He smirked. "Dead weight like you will only slow me down."

Sakura clenched her fists but understood. Sai remained silent, nodding before they both vanished into the trees.

Now alone, Sasuke faced Kimimaro once more, drawing another blade. "You must be working for Uchiha Itachi," he said coldly. "Tell him I'm not that easy to kill."

Kimimaro tilted his head, confused. What does Itachi have to do with this?

But it didn't matter. His mission was simple: capture Uchiha Sasuke for Orochimaru.

From a distance, Naruto chuckled. "Sasuke still likes to act cool, huh?"

Hinata turned to him. "Shouldn't we act now? If this keeps up, the examiners will notice us."

Naruto stretched and stood up. "You're right. It's about time we make our move."

He turned to Haku and Karin. "Get your chakra weapons ready."

Hinata blinked in confusion as Haku and Karin unsealed a pair of chakra-powered firearms from their scrolls.

She frowned. "Mianma-kun… I've seen weapons like these before on missions. Normal firearms are useless against ninjas. Even simple bows and arrows are more effective."

Naruto smirked. "These aren't ordinary guns. They're chakra guns."

He pulled out a reinforced model from his storage scroll and handed it to Hinata. "I'll show you how to use it."

To some extent, she wasn't wrong.

During his travels, Naruto had seen various gunpowder weapons in the Land of Fire. While effective against civilians, they were practically useless against trained shinobi.

Ninjas are superhuman.

They can outrun bullets, shatter boulders with their fists, and spit fire strong enough to melt steel. Against such monsters, normal firearms were worthless.

That's why chakra guns were invented.

These weapons could channel elemental chakra, allowing them to fire jutsu-powered bullets. Their power was equivalent to mid-level ninjutsu, though they had a major drawback: cost. The guns required chakra-conducting metals, the same type used in Asuma's chakra blades.

Still, Naruto saw potential. He could establish a gunner unit in Uzushio, rivaling Kirigakure's Seven Ninja Swordsmen.

Grabbing Hinata's hand, he helped her aim at Kimimaro.

"Now, pull the trigger."

A Thunder Release Railgun shot fired from the barrel, crackling with electricity as it surged toward its target!
