Chapter 22 - The Zombie World In Modern Era

After making his decision, Ainsworth chose the sixth difficulty.

-Ding!

[The ??? Difficulty has been chosen!]

-Ding!

[Do you want to name your team or use a randomly generated serial team number?]

Ainsworth had already expected that so he answered in his mind, 'Our team name will be Eleutheron Eclipse.'

He didn't care much about the team name as long as it wasn't too weird like "Gyatt Rizzlers" or "12 AM Sigmas".

After all, the team name was merely a placeholder name by which the Voice of the World would collectively refer to them.

If Ainsworth would partake in an Otherworld Mission with a new member along with Rian and Dante, the team name could either be used again or created anew just for that four-member team.

-Ding!

[The otherworld team Eleutheron Eclipse will be sent to the mission world in 10 seconds.]

After hearing the Voice of The World's notification, Ainsworth, Rian, and Dante prepared themselves.

Although Rian and Dante were confused that an unknown difficulty had been chosen, they both trusted Ainsworth, so they remained silent. The two of them knew that the Otherworld Mission Center wasn't the right place to discuss important and private matters.

After they stood and waited for ten seconds, the three of them soon disappeared from the Otherworld Mission Center.

Opening his eyes, Ainsworth surveyed his surroundings.

He found himself in a dormitory room with two bunker beds. The sunlight shining outside the window indicated that it was currently afternoon.

Looking at the aesthetic of the dormitory room, Ainsworth speculated that his team was brought into a modern world.

Beside him, Rian and Dante were also observing their surroundings and after discovering that there wasn't any immediate danger in their arrival location, the two of them breathed a sigh of relief.

A few moments after they arrived, they heard the Voice of The World inside their mind.

-Ding!

[Eleutheron Eclipse has arrived at Zombie Apocalypse World #21,304.]

-Ding!

[Identities have already been integrated. Generating otherworld missions…]

-Ding!

[Main Missions for Unknown Difficulty]

[Main Mission 1: Kill 100 Ordinary Zombies, 10 Elite Zombies, and 1 Special Zombie.]

[Main Mission 2: Obtain 10 sun crystals and 10 moon crystals.]

[Main Mission 3: Obtain 1 special-rank artifact.]

[Main Mission 4: ??? (Will be revealed in two weeks)]

[Main Mission 5: ??? (Will be revealed after completing Main Mission 4)]

The three of them all received the notifications so when Rian and Dante discovered that nothing was wrong, they were confused.

Rian asked, "What's the difference between Hell and Unknown Difficulty? Based on the textbook, these five main missions so far are displayed as like what an Awakener would encounter in a Hell Difficulty Otherworld Mission."

Faced with that question, Ainsworth speculated, "Although I'm the one who chose this sixth difficulty, even I don't know what it entails aside from it being more difficult than Hell Difficulty. If I'm not mistaken, it might involve the secrets of this world which would bring more danger than the average Zombie Apocalypse World."

Hearing Ainsworth's speculation, Dante commented, "So basically a Hell Difficulty Otherworld Mission in a much more dangerous world?"

Ainsworth nodded, "Well, it should be. We can only rely on guesswork at this point. After all, even the school library didn't have any information about the sixth difficulty."

Rian hypothesized, "It might also be possible that information about the Unknown Difficulty existed, but only a selected few knew about it since it's a top secret information that has been withheld by the top powerhouses on Earth."

Regarding Rian's hypothesis, Dante and Ainsworth felt that it made sense but either way, they knew that they had no luxury to linger on that.

Ainsworth said, "No matter what, the higher the difficulty, the better the rewards are. At least, if we keep on choosing the Unknown Difficulty, as long as we live long enough to get the rewards, being an SSS-rank Awakener is already guaranteed or even reach above it."

Hearing Ainsworth's words, Dante and Rian became more motivated to complete the Otherworld Missions regardless of how difficult the otherworld missions Ainsworth chose.

Dante spoke, "If I'm not mistaken, we are thrown into a modern world. From its appearance, the style of the room we are in is that of a student dormitory. Our identities should be that of a student in this school."

"Since we are in a modern world, we should access the internet and check the history of this world to know how different it is from our world."

Rian nodded, "Dante can check the internet while I can rummage through the room. Since Ainsworth takes our team's position as a scout, he can leave through the window and survey the situation from above."

"From the looks of it, this world should have supernatural powers and whatnot considering that the otherworld mission asked us to defeat zombies and collect artifacts."

Hearing Dante and Rian's suggestions, Ainsworth agreed, "Sure, I'll observe the situation outside. Since this is a zombie world held in the modern era, we should act fast when electricity and the internet haven't been shut down yet. I'll also check the situation outside and see if the zombie outbreak has started."

With the three of them deciding their roles to take, Dante immediately headed to the desk and sat on the chair, turning on the power of the dormitory's computer.

On the other hand, Rian started rummaging through the entire dormitory room.

There were four beds in the dormitory room so from the identities given to them by Earth's Will, aside from the three of them, they had a fourth roommate. Despite that, Rian dared to search the fourth roommate's belongings since he dared to kill and steal here, let alone rummage through other people's property.

Seeing Dante and Rian act decisively and quickly, Ainsworth knew that his decision to form a team with them rather than going solo was the right one.

After all, things that could be done by one person were limited, and only by allocating the workload would the burden be lightened.

With that in mind, Ainsworth opened the window and used Freedom of Movement (SSS) to jump out of the window and step in the air, thinking, 'I'll check the layout of the areas around the dormitory building and see if the zombie outbreak had occurred.'
