Chapter 48 - Added Plot

It was supposed to be an ordinary History of Magic lesson, the kind where students fought to stay awake while Professor Binns droned on about goblin rebellions in his lifeless monotone.

But today, something was different.

As we entered the classroom, the usual ghostly figure of Binns was nowhere to be seen. Instead, standing at the front of the class, hands folded neatly over his robes, was none other than Albus Dumbledore.

The room went silent.

Ron blinked. "Blimey."

Hermione gasped. "The Headmaster? Teaching?"

I glanced at Harry, whose eyebrows had shot up. Even he looked surprised.

Dumbledore smiled, his twinkling blue eyes scanning the room before he spoke, his voice calm yet commanding.

"Good morning, everyone. As you have likely noticed, Professor Binns is not here today. He has... taken a rather extended nap."

A chuckle rippled through the class.

"Thus, I shall be your instructor for today lesson."

Murmurs broke out immediately. Dumbledore himself was teaching history? That had never happened before.

But the murmurs quickly died as he waved a hand, and with a flick of his wand, the blackboard behind him filled with glowing, golden letters:

THE GREAT WAR

There was an eerie shift in the atmosphere, like the air itself had become heavier.

Dumbledore clasped his hands together. "Today, we will discuss a topic that is rarely spoken of in wizarding society. A war that predates Hogwarts itself. A war fought not just by wizards, but by forces far greater than us."

He paused, letting the words settle.

" thousand years ago, the world witnessed a battle between beings that many of you have only read about in myths. Angels. Demons. Gods. Devils. And other entities beyond our comprehension. ."

The silence in the room was deafening.

I could hear the sharp intake of breath from multiple students.

Dumbledore continued. "There was a time when the magical and the divine were not so separate. When mortals could, and often did, interact with beings far beyond their understanding. Wizards and witches played their part in this great conflict, as did creatures we now consider mere legends. But, as with all things , its cool down "

The golden letters on the blackboard shifted and reshaped, forming ancient symbols—some I recognized from runic studies, others completely foreign.

Dumbledore's voice softened. "Now, before any of you panic, let me make something clear. Yes, GODS exist. Yes, DEVILS exist. Yes, they are REAL. But they do not interfere in our Society as they once did."

The class exploded.

"WHAT?!"

"HOW—"

"WHY WERE WE NEVER TOLD?"

Panic. Confusion. Disbelief.

Seamus looked like he might faint. Neville's jaw had dropped.

Harry looked wildly at Ron. "Did—did you know about this?!"

Ron shook his head, looking just as lost.

Even Hermione, usually quick with an answer, was staring at Dumbledore like he had just claimed the sky was green.

I said nothing.

I just sat there. Silent.

Unmoving.

Because for me, this changed everything.

Dumbledore raised a hand for silence, and slowly, the room calmed.

"The reason you were not told," he explained, "is because it is forbidden to share this knowledge with young witches and wizards until they reach an age of responsibility. There are those who would seek out these beings. Some have in the past… and made deals that have cost them dearly."

His expression darkened. "A young wizard, eager for power not understanding cost , could easily be lured into an agreement they do not understand. This is why first and second-years are never taught of such things. Only when you are older—when you have the wisdom to resist temptation—are you allowed to know."

More whispers filled the air, but they were quieter now, filled more with unease than panic.

"I understand that this is a great deal to take in," Dumbledore continued, his gaze gentle. "But you must also understand—though these beings exist, they do not concern themselves with our world as they once did. The world of magic has chosen to remain separate. Few ever encounter such beings in their lifetime. Fewer still return to speak of it."

Most of the class seemed to accept that, albeit hesitantly.

But me?

I barely heard the rest of his words.

I was still processing.

Gods exist. Devils exist.

That meant…

Magic wasn't the limit.

There was more.

Much more.

I felt something shift in me. A realization settling deep within my bones.

For years, I had thought the wizarding world was my battlefield. That my vengeance would be carried out within its walls, against those who had wronged me.

But now?

Now I wasn't so sure.

Because if these beings were real

then that means this is DXD world .
