Chapter 97 - 97. Celebration party

The meeting with Jerome Bixby went smoothly, so smoothly that Rowan didn't even have to spend any money.

Maybe it's because when people are a bout to die, they become more open-minde d about many things.

Jerome Bixby generously offered Rowan the idea for his own creation, as long as he agreed to hire his son, Emerson Bixby, as the screenwriter.

Rowan agreed.

According to the market price, Emerson Bixby is only $10,000, which is nothing at all.

After signing the contract, Jerome Bixby dictated while lying on his hospital bed: "I had this idea in the early 1960s..."

September 1, 1997.

After finalizing a project, Rowan started going for interviews in a good mood. Soon his mood wasn't so good anymore.

The audition for the second male lead in "Armageddon" failed.

According to the simplified script, the film tells the story of a comet about to hit the earth. When the disaster is inevitable, the government implements the final Ark Plan to save the earth.

The second male lead is set to be a te enager, an astronomy enthusiast, and one of the original discoverers of comets.

The reason for the failed audition was that Rowan did not look like a teenager.

Rather than being an astronomy enthusiast, when Rowan stood there, he gave people the feeling of an American hero who was going to save the world.

Rowan was speechless but there was nothing he could do.

Elijah Wood, who auditioned with him, was only one year younger than him, but his appearance looked like he was ten years younger.

It can only be said that after experiencing the baptism of senior students and older sisters, Rowan has matured in all aspects.

There is nothing wrong with playing the Jewish father, but the price is the loss of youthfulness though he never truly had that atleast not in this life.

After failing the audition Rowan who was going back to his house for a call from John Woo who told him to come to the celebration party for the success of Face/off which has crossed the box office of $400 million worldwide.

___________

Night.

The magnificent hotel was brightly lit, and a group of men and women in formal a ttire were toasting each other.

Paramount Pictures invited many celebrities under the name of "Face/Off".

The movie didn't become a huge hit at the box office but it still made some money.

But the most important thing is.

"The banquet can be included in the movie's bill." Mary whispered, "The banquet expenses can be flexibly included in the mo vie's cost."

Rowan nodded thoughtfully: "I've heard of Hollywood-style accounting and Hollywood-style business activities."

"That's right. There are a lot of tricks in volved. If you make a movie yourself, you have to pay attention to these. Why not do it if you can legally avoid taxes?" Mary pointed out.

"Thank you, I'll keep an eye on it."

"You can find some opportunities by at tending these kinds of banquets occasionally, but you don't have to try every possible way to squeeze in like them."

Mary looked in one direction.

Rowan followed her gaze.

At the center of that circle is the popular Julia Roberts.

This super A-list actress raised her chin and enjoyed the flattery of several beautiful women around her.

"They are willing to do anything for the opportunity, but you don't. You have already made your own way in Hollywood, Rowan. All that's left is to be patient and careful in your management. I will help you too."

Rowan withdrew his gaze and looked at Mary.

Mary spoke calmly, but the way she raised her chin revealed a little pride.

With their chins also raised, Rowan felt that his senior's agent looked better than Julia Roberts.

The curve of the jaw is like a white lotus petal, revealing the texture of white porce lain in the sunlight, making people feel silky smooth.

My eyes couldn't help but slide down, to the tightly closed buttons on the collar of the beige dress, and then...then slid all the way to the toes.

There is not even a bottleneck or obstacle!

Hiss, this woman is so terrifying!

Rowan tactically leaned back and gasped.

Mary whipped her head around and gla red at him.

Rowan looked innocent: "What's wrong?"

Mary frowned slightly: "I always feel like you are thinking about something very rude."

Rowan shook his head: "You are too suspicious. I only have respect for you."

Is a woman's sixth sense so accurate?

Why can't men do that!

I feel chill down my spine!

The two chatted in private for a while, and then Terence Chang and John Woo came over.

Woo nodded politely to Mary, then looked at Rowan: "Let me introduce you to some people."

Rowan knew that this was the good intention of Terence Chang and John Woo who wanted to help him expand his network.

This kindness is much greater than when they were filming "Face/Off".

But this is normal.

If you are poor in a busy city, no one will care about you; but if you are rich in a remote mountain area, you will have distant relatives.

When he was a supporting actor, he met all kinds of people some like Terence Chang who liked him and some like David Permut who ignored him in various ways.

After the big robbery, he had top traffic and was surrounded by good people. Spielberg also invited him with a smile.

This is the most basic rule of survival. Rowan adapted well to it. He gestured to Mary and followed John Woo to socialize.

First, it was Nicolas Cage's circle.

Brother Cage is also a veteran star. His great-grandfather imported films from Italy to America in the 1920s to show them to Italian immigrants. He is a veteran in the theater industry.

Even the name of Paramount Pictures was taken from his great-grandfather's Paramount Music Company.

His grandfather, Carmine Coppola, is a composer and conductor, and he composed the soundtracks for The Godfather and Apocalypse Now.

His uncle Francis Ford Coppola is the director of the movie "The Godfather", and his aunt Talia Shire is the heroine of "The Godfather" and "Rocky".

It can be said to be a famous Hollywood family.

Because of brother Cage's relationship, Rowan and John Woo are still very welcomed on the surface. No one knows what the other party is thinking in their mind after all.

But from Rowan's point of view, the enthusiasm towards him seemed to be a little greater than that towards John Woo.

After taking a photo together, he came to the most famous actress of the evening, Julia Roberts.

Rowan took the initiative to extend his right hand: "Hello, Ms. Roberts, congratulations on your nomination for the People's Choice Award for Most Popular Actres s."

He wanted to say the movie was a hit, but Julia Roberts' recent release, Conspiracy Theory, was only average.

With a cost of 80 million and released in 2,806 theaters, it is definitely a big production.

However, the box office revenue on its opening weekend was only 19.31 million U S dollars, and it only grossed 75 million US dollars after almost two months of release.

It was only two steps away from the bloody pounce.

Her and Mel Gibson had just received the highest salary for the film "Conspiracy Theory" and then it flopped. Anyone else would not have the heart to attend the party now.

But Julia Roberts is really awesome. "Runaway Bride", which was released at about the same time, cost $38 million and grossed $127 million in North America and $290 million worldwide.

The halo of the queen of romantic comedies is too strong, and falling once is not enough to break this golden body, especially since "Conspiracy Theory" is an action movie.
