Chapter 265 - Chapter 260: The Method for Capturing Aria the Scarlet Ammo

Regarding the Plague Doctor (SCP-049):

There would undoubtedly be many follow-up communication attempts, and perhaps even interaction experiments with other containment subjects.

After all, humanoid anomalies capable of proactive communication were rare.

Researching such entities could help humanity better understand the unknown known as "anomalies."

Haruto stood outside the containment chamber for a moment, watching, then began arranging the necessary tasks.

The Plague Doctor seemed to be able to sense the presence of plague.

And once it sensed the plague, it would immediately enter a frenzied state, attempting to "cure" the infected.

Therefore, all researchers working on SCP-049, containment maintenance personnel, and D-class test subjects had to undergo daily health checks to ensure they weren't carrying any infectious diseases.

At the same time, during communication with the Plague Doctor, it was necessary to repeatedly emphasize that there was no plague in the outside world.

That the Great Pandemic had already passed.

This was to ensure that the Plague Doctor had no intention of breaking containment.

In addition, a special type of lavender was added to the Plague Doctor's containment chamber.

According to the Plague Doctor's own descriptions and practical testing, the scent of lavender could calm it down.

To a certain extent, this helped suppress its frenzy state.

The site also manufactured and stored special lavender-concentrated grenades in case of a breakout attempt.

The Plague Doctor was contained at an outdoor facility in France.

Dozens of miles around the area were uninhabited.

Keeping it away from the population was absolutely the right choice.

Especially during flu season.

After wrapping up containment affairs for the Plague Doctor, Haruto recalled that this anomaly report had involved two anomalies.

The Plague Doctor had cooperated with containment.

But there was still another anomaly loose.

Haruto pulled up the tracking records.

To his annoyance, the anomalous girl encountered at the farm had escaped and disappeared into Paris, France.

Inside the city, she had intentionally shaken off surveillance.

Even satellite monitoring had difficulty pinpointing her exact location.

Clearly, this anomaly possessed considerable intelligence and some criminological skills.

Fortunately, she hadn't shown any intent to cause harm or expose her anomalous nature to the public.

After reviewing the current tracking information…

Haruto decided to capture her himself.

Since he was already there, he might as well take care of it. Otherwise, the site would be tied up dealing with this for days.

And such anomalies hiding in urban areas needed to be handled with extra caution.

Otherwise, if an anomaly outbreak occurred, not only would civilian lives be at risk, but large-scale memory wipes would be required.

Leaving the site, Haruto entered Paris.

In the area where the anomaly had evaded tracking, Haruto released his senses and extended his perception outward.

Soon, he detected the girl hiding inside a rented apartment. Because she had previously escaped Foundation containment…

"Za Warudo!"

Haruto snapped his fingers. The next moment, the entire world dimmed, and light itself came to a halt.

Time ceased to flow as he activated the power of The World.

Then, Haruto leisurely strolled over.

He arrived outside the small rented apartment.

A glance showed him there were hidden traps set at the door and several windows. Not harmful, but they'd create a loud noise if triggered.

He casually opened a window and climbed in.

He also removed the alarm hanging by the window.

Inside the room, a cute girl with crimson eyes and twin-tails was staring seriously at the wall.

The wall was covered with newspapers, portraits, and printed information. Lines and notes had been drawn connecting them, tracing many connections.

Haruto watched with interest for a while.

These cases were all major crimes that had happened across the country.

Perhaps because they were in Paris, many of the cases were from there.

Over half were related to anomalies.

In some of these anomalous outbreak incidents, the Foundation had quickly intervened and blocked information.

Only after the anomalies had been contained was general investigation allowed.

This resulted in many serious crimes becoming unsolved cases with no leads.

Of course, from a humanitarian standpoint, the Foundation would compensate the victims and their families after the incidents.

While they were officially unsolved cases...

In reality, the world had far too many cold cases.

They happened almost daily.

For example, if a thief happened to rob a rich person, then immediately retired from crime…

That case would basically become impossible to solve.

Back to the main point—

From the records on the wall, it was clear the girl was investigating these cold cases.

And her investigations were quite effective.

Haruto couldn't help but be impressed.

Didn't expect this little thing to be a detective.

Now he was curious—how would she fare against that little grim reaper detective Conan?

But jokes aside, Haruto's eyes rested on three specific cases on the wall.

First, the Cannibal Serial Killings.

Second, the Multi-Limb Corpse Case.

Third, the Farm Incident.

These three cases corresponded to anomalies already contained by the Foundation—werewolf, vampire, and the Plague Doctor.

From the girl's investigations, it seemed she was already approaching the realm of the supernatural.

She even had records of werewolves and vampires.

Haruto raised an eyebrow.

Looks like this girl wasn't just a detective—she was someone with a legacy of dealing with the supernatural.

Pulling his eyes away from the wall—

He looked back at the girl.

Given her prior escape from containment…

Haruto took out some nylon ropes and other tools from his divine power space.

As the saying goes, "Once you've done it once, the second time's easier."

Just like he had restrained Annie before, now he did the same with this girl.

With improved skills, Haruto executed a Ghost Armor Bind—a sophisticated rope bondage technique.

He showed off his shibari(japanese bondage) skills to the fullest.

He also added a pair of mind-shielding alloy handcuffs and a carbon fiber blindfold. And popped a small pink hollow ball gag into her mouth.

Once done, Haruto clapped his hands and admired his "artwork."

Then he snapped his fingers again.

The World was released, and time resumed.

"Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm!"

The girl was stunned at first, then began to make muffled noises, struggling on the bed.

One second everything had been fine, and the next, darkness, bindings, and something stuffed in her mouth.

Anyone would panic.

Haruto cleared his throat.

The girl froze, then struggled even more violently.

Unfortunately for her, Haruto's knotwork was too professional—she couldn't even crawl.

"々` Mmm-mm, mmm-mmm!"

Even though she was only making muffled sounds, Haruto felt like he was being cursed at.

He squinted.

Still acting cocky even when tied up?

Even Annie had the decency to act meek by this point!

"Now, I ask and you answer. Lie or dodge the question, and you'll face indefinite confinement."

"First, what's your name?"

"Mmm!"

Haruto clicked his tongue.

"Still resisting? Very well, I admire your spine—but as some people says…

'A wise man submits to fate.' One more time: What's your name?!"

The girl: You son of a—

Somehow, the girl bit through the strap of the pink ball gag and spat it out.

Then she shouted:

"Baka! Pervert! Scumbag!"

She was absolutely fuming.

Her mouth had been gagged—how the heck was she supposed to answer anything?!

Haruto smirked but maintained a cold tone.

"Looks like you'd rather drink punishment than toast. In that case, don't blame me."

With that, Haruto reached for her ankle.

The girl was lifted into the air, instantly panicking.

Still immobilized and blindfolded, she couldn't see a thing, and strange thoughts ran through her head.

Being grabbed by the foot and dangling mid-air pushed her over the edge.

"Aria H. Kanzaki! That's my name! Satisfied now?! Put me down!"

Aria screamed.

Haruto couldn't hold back his laughter.

He had actually recognized her the moment he entered the room.

The descendant of the famous detective Holmes, and the protagonist of that super-powered detective anime.

A girl with a strong sense of justice.

Her only flaw—too much tsundere, sharp tongue, and a habit of shooting first.

To avoid unnecessary conflict, Haruto had chosen to strike first and teach her a lesson before anything else.
