Chapter 46- Hypocrites

I stood there, frozen, as I watched them approach me. My heart was racing, but my body refused to move. Armed with firewood and flames, marching toward me. Their faces were set with grim, and I could already see the faint glow of the firelight reflected in their eyes.
"Who are you bringing that for?" I asked, trying to steady my voice, but the tremor was impossible to hide.
One of them, a member I didn't recognize, sneered at me. "It's for you, Selene. You've done enough damage already. You're going to burn for what you've done."
Burn. The word hit me like a stone to the chest. My mind flashed back to that horrible day in my previous life—when they burned me alive. I could still feel the searing heat, the pain that lanced through every nerve as the flames consumed my skin. My lungs had burned as I gasped for air, but there was no escaping. They all watched me die.
