As soon as I left Vaelith's chambers and returned to mine, I spotted Pi, my personal assistant, together with Roman, sitting in the living room. The moment I stepped in, the grave look on their faces froze me mid-step before I forced myself to move toward them.
"Start spilling," I commanded, locking my gaze on Pi.
"They have him. They have Liam," Pi said, pulling out a letter — a red-sigil letter.
I snatched it from him, fighting to keep my hands steady. The envelope was heavy, ominous. I tore it open, and there it was — a blood-red ink message, written directly to me. Clear. Brutal. They had Liam.
"How did you get this? And did you read it?" I barked.
