Alexandra's POV—
In my first life, I wanted a personal team for myself. For better results, I wanted 40 percent of the total assigned materials. My objective was to work on 'clean' energy. A better source of energy which would cut off the excessive use of non-renewable energy sources. The manager, who considered me as an idiot, threw me out of the company.
"You are an engineer?!" asked Shuren.
"I can't think of you as an engineer," whispered Jessie. She tried her best to say those words softly, yet my 'over-working' ears heard everything.
Feeling offended, I asked, "What do you mean by that?"
Shuren immediately raised her hands in surrender. "Alex, don't be mad… but you definitely aren't an engineer-type. You are more of a model or, an actor."
Weslie agreed, "Yeah. Your aura is completely different from an engineer. You look… happier. I mean, I haven't seen any cute engineer in my entire life."
I pouted at her words. They are disrespecting my first life. Being an engineer is not a curse!
"I was an engineer! Okay! Just keep it in mind!" I yelled angrily.
"We understand Alex. Please, don't be angry. You are an engineer, albeit a cute engineer. Okay? Shall we go back to our discussion?" Lia tried to appease me.
Snorting at her words, I asked, "Fine. So, I should summarize my words. Think of five toffees. One day, I put these toffees in a drawer. So, how many toffees would remain?"
"Zero!"
"The answer is zero!"
"Obviously, it's zero."
"Nothing!"
"Five."
The last answer was from Shimran.
"Shimran, you really know your stuff, don't you?" I smiled at her.
"Masters in physics," replied Shimran, with a very haughty tone.
A smile bloomed on my face when I heard Shimran's words. It seems she do know what I have in my mind.
"Why?" I asked her in anticipation.
"The toffees are in the drawer. You are not doing anything with them. Even if you do… it won't change anything," replied Shimran.
"Yes! Because energy can never be created nor destroyed! It can be changed from one form to another. The same goes for mass. It can't neither be created nor destroyed. Both energy and mass are interconvertible. This is the fucking fundamental principle of physics! We can't change it! How can we change something that existed since the beginning of this cosmos? Something that always existed at the zeroth time."
"So, what your professor wants is to… make a device, which will access something that already existed from the beginning. The waves are already there… so, it's going to get there co-ordinates and get it work on them."
"Do you have the prototype? Or, something like blue prints? Did he teach you something about his machine? No? Your professor must have left something, right? In his house… or maybe in your university. I need to look at that."
Shimran shook her head in denial. She replied, "I don't know. The professor vanished suddenly as if he had been swallowed by this earth, leaving behind nothing. Not a single trace of his presence."
I nodded, "Okay. Let's go there after we finish our work at the hospital."
"You will really go there? With us?" asked Lia.
I stood up and cracked my knuckles. "Yes, Lia. After we finish our work at the hospital, I am going to visit those places. Shimran, will you accompany me?"
Sighing, Shimran shook her head. "I can't," she refused.
"Why?"
"I can't leave them."
"I never asked you to leave them," I closed my eyes, "Shimran, if you can't accompany me… can you please give me their locations?"
The system might help me, yet it's better to have a backup.
"I can only give you the university's location. As for where he lives, I don't," said Shimran.
I nodded frantically and said, "It's fine, completely fine."
Shuren clapped her hand in delight. She smirked, "Well then, it's time to hit the road."
