Morgan tapped the armrest of his chair, deep in thought.

Even in this very moment of hesitation, America is crumbling.

By tomorrow, Jonathan would settle his short positions. The markets, unprepared for the collapse, would spiral into chaos. Banks would fall one after another, like dominoes in a storm.

"Mr. Secretary, does Roosevelt have any countermeasures in place?"

"He is formulating a plan."

"So, nothing concrete."

Morgan had never placed much faith in them anyway. Even if a plan did exist, the Democrats would never agree to it. Their concerns over market intervention were one thing, but more importantly, they were the greatest beneficiaries of this economic collapse.

For the first time in decades, the Republican stronghold was weakening. The Democrats saw this as their moment to seize power, to usher in a new era under their control.

"It will be difficult to sway Democratic lawmakers."

"You understand well. And the people would never accept it either."
