Chapter 200 - Curiosity killed the Cat

Black Swan noticed the distrust in Lin Shuang's gaze.

She didn't expect to have Lin Shuang let her guard down immediately.

With a slight nod, she decided to leave the matter alone for now.

"This is a Light Cone I created in the Asdana galaxy. The owner of the memory hid it carefully, so the image is quite blurry."

As she spoke, Black Swan held out a light cone, where only a vague silhouette of a person could be seen.

"I'm not sure who they are, but they might be important. Would you like to try it?"

She handed the light cone to Lin Shuang.

After a brief pause, Lin Shuang took it.

"I'll give it a try. How do I contact you after this?"

With a playful chuckle, Black Swan replied, "Don't worry, little sister. Fate will lead us to cross paths again."

Once Lin Shuang accepted the light cone, Black Swan turned to leave. She walked toward the end of the corridor.

"When we meet at Penacony, we'll dance together, little sister."

Lin Shuang watched Black Swan fade into the wall, vanishing completely.

Her attention shifted to the new system message.

It seemed the system had interpreted Black Swan's nod as an agreement to establish a relationship.

The information about Black Swan then appeared before Lin Shuang:

[Target: Black Swan]

[Favorability: 68 (curious)]

[Relationship: Friends]

['Curiosity often kills the cat, girl!']

['A Memokeeper who always sees through others finally meets someone she can't read. Lucky for you, girl!']

[Reward: Draw a green card once]

A weak light cone and a lottery.

Let's see if the lottery can offer anything related to memory.

She drew the card.

The familiar green glow filled the room.

But once again, there was nothing useful.

Lin Shuang sighed and then noticed the new skill that had appeared:

[Memory is also tangible]

['Memory is like the deep sea. To the ordinary person, it exists but can't be touched. Yet, it is still tangible.']

['See it, touch it, and fish it out with your hands, like fishing for the moon in water.']

The description was abstract, but Lin Shuang quickly understood its function.

In simple terms, she could now observe fragmented memories within a memory mass. But it was only an observation.

It was like trying to grab the moon reflected on water—you could see it, but you couldn't touch it, nor could you keep it.

"Well…"

Though the skill didn't seem that impressive, the ability to observe memories within a mass of them was still quite significant.

However, since these memories were disconnected and trivial, unlike the processed memories in light cones, it wouldn't be easy to find something useful.

Still, something was better than nothing. Lin Shuang then set her mind on Penacony, pondering how to begin her investigation.

Now, she had a new lead.

Lin Shuang stored the light cone Black Swan had given her, planning to study it further later.

She wasn't sure who she might encounter in the process.

...

Back at the rest cabin, Lin Shuang found Robin reading a book.

"Lin Shuang? Feeling better?"

Robin looked up, quickly setting the book aside and walking over to Lin Shuang, her gaze filled with concern.

Lin Shuang smiled and nodded, "I'll be fine after some rest. Don't worry."

Robin's reaction made Lin Shuang realize that she hadn't noticed Black Swan's appearance.

"Please, sit down first. Sorry, I wasn't careful."

Robin guided Lin Shuang to a seat, apologizing earnestly.

But Lin Shuang waved it off. "It's just a matter of constitution; it's not your fault. By the way, aren't we almost at Penacony?"

"We'll be there soon. And my brother will be waiting for me at the starport. But don't worry, I'll be with you."

Robin explained, though Lin Shuang's curiosity was piqued—how could someone take the time to personally meet them on a Sunday?

"Isn't your brother the head of the family? The Charmony Festival is soon, isn't he too busy to come pick you up?"

"When he heard I was coming back alone, he insisted on coming to pick me up," Robin replied, though she understood her brother's concern.

As a rising star, Robin had great popularity in Penacony. She hadn't brought an entourage this time, and her casual clothes might not hide her identity.

Her brother's worry was understandable, but Robin thought sending a few people from the family would have sufficed. There was no need for him to come in person, especially when it might cause delays.

"Could Sunday really be the one?" Lin Shuang thought, though she wasn't sure about her suspicions yet.

...

Soon, the spacecraft landed at Penacony's starport.

Lin Shuang followed Robin out, heading toward the starport, when she saw Sunday, already waiting outside in elegant attire.

"Welcome back, Robin."

Sunday greeted Robin as she disembarked.

"Brother, it's been a while."

Robin nodded in return. After exchanging greetings, she took Lin Shuang's hand, introducing them both:

"This is Lin Shuang, the one I mentioned before. She's also the current head of the Oak family, Sunday."

"Nice to meet you, Ms. Lin Shuang. Thank you for assisting Robin in Xianzhou Luofu."

Sunday bowed slightly in greeting, his demeanor polite and cordial, with no sign of hostility.

Lin Shuang, however, remained cautious. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Sunday. No need to mention that. Robin and I are friends."

After the introduction, Sunday turned to Robin. "This isn't the place to talk. I'll take you to a quiet room to rest."

Robin looked at Lin Shuang, silently asking for her opinion.

Lin Shuang gave a slight nod, indicating no objection.

Thus, they followed Sunday to The Reverie, where Lin Shuang was immediately assigned to the best VIP room, right next to Robin's.

"...Lin Shuang, do you understand the precautions for entering a dream for the first time?" Robin asked before sleep.

"Yes, I remember," Lin Shuang replied.

T/N: Here's your 5 chapters.

Personally, I can't play games continuously when the updates add too much content, like you know what I mean?

It's kind of why I stopped playing Genshin when the desert part of sumeru came out.

I also stopped playing Star Rail when Penacony came out as well

Also the same for ZZZ, but that was cause I started so fucking early that there was no content to do, then college happened so I stopped playing.

FGO is just daunting, so I just decided to read it instead of playing it, cause I was told that the lostbelts were peak(they are peak) so I just decided to just straight up read it.
