Chapter 12: Scott's First Hunt - Part 4 Final
[POV: Scott]
Allison and I had chased the kelpie through a large part of the forest. Its hatred and attention were focused exclusively on Stiles, and taking advantage of that, Allison had shot several arrows into its body. However, the kelpie ignored them as if they didn't hurt it at all.
—Alright, it's far from any body of water. Scott, use your superior strength and take it down. You know, tackle it —Allison said.
—I'm on it —I replied as my claws grew, fur spread across my face, and my teeth became harder and sharper.
Using my superior strength and speed, I crashed into the kelpie. With a swift movement, Stiles, who was only a few feet away, rushed in and slashed its front leg with his obsidian dagger. Then Allison arrived and, using a rope made of mistletoe and rowan, tied its legs and covered its mouth.
—You son of a bitch, that's for coming after me —Stiles spat—. Alright, let's kill it.
—I don't think we should kill it. Why don't we just release it somewhere far away? —I asked. The idea of killing sickened me. Even though I knew this supernatural world was kill or be killed, I still couldn't bring myself to take a life.
—Scott, let's kill it. Did you see how it tried to kill me? —Stiles said, his voice filled with annoyance.
—I agree with Stiles. We should kill it —Allison added.
—No! We're not killing it. Frank said I could choose what to do with it, and I choose not to kill it —I stated firmly.
—Fine, and what do you want to do? Lock it up in your super special supernatural prison? Oh, right… that doesn't exist, Scott —Stiles said, his frustration evident.
—I know, but we can trap it in a cave and surround the entrance with mountain ash and mistletoe so it can't escape —I suggested.
—Fine, let's do that and get out of here —Allison said.
[POV: Stiles]
After walking for a while, we found a cave. Even though I hated Scott's stupid plan, I would go along with it because he was my brother. Still, I couldn't forget what Mr. Stain had said about Scott.
{Flashback}
I was drinking some poisons when Mr. Stain stood next to me. With a sarcastic smile, he pointed at Scott, who was meditating, and said:
—You know, Stiles, Scott is too good sometimes. He'll say no to killing even if it puts his friends and his girlfriend in danger.
—That's a really dumb way to think. But yeah, that's Scott for you —I admitted.
—That's why I like you better, Stiles. You're paranoid, yes, but with good reason. That's why I decided to teach you. A sorcerer is nothing more than a paranoid obsessive with a lot of power —he stated.
—Yeah, Scott tends to trust everyone, and it's no surprise when those people betray him —I said, nodding repeatedly.
—That's why I ask you, Stiles… Don't you want to do the dirty work for him? I'm not saying you have to kill everyone, but you should pay attention when he does something stupid, like forgiving someone who almost killed you all.
{End of flashback}
In the end, he was right. And even though I hesitated a little, I decided to do exactly that.
After locking the kelpie in the cave and making sure it was secure, we all went home. Of course, my plan was to return later and finish the job.
Late at night, I returned to the forest with several obsidian daggers, as well as powdered mountain ash and mistletoe, just in case. I made my way to the cave. The kelpie saw me and, with a mocking laugh, said:
—Why are you back, stupid human?
—My friend doesn't like killing, and as his brother, I have to clean up his messes sometimes —I said as I threw the powder at him, which quickly took effect when he inhaled it.
—Ah… using… poisons… I didn't… want to die like this… —he muttered before my dagger lodged between his eyes, ending his life. His body turned to dust. And just like that, I killed something for the first time.
[POV: Scott]
After finishing the hunt, I returned home. It was strange—I couldn't hear anything with my enhanced senses. I assumed it was Frank's doing.
When I walked in, I wanted to die. In the living room, in front of the TV, were Frank and my mom engaged in their "activities."
—You said you were only going to play Mortal Kombat! —I shouted before storming out of the house with an immense look of disgust on my face.
