Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: The Sandman

As the group felt they had explored enough, they returned to the restaurant they had visited last time.

Sitting around the table, they enjoyed exquisite desserts. Pamela gazed at the street outside and said leisurely, "The weather is so nice today."

Just as she finished speaking, a massive sandstorm howled past the window, instantly shrouding the sunlight with a thick layer of dust.

"..."

Kino and the others stared at her in silence.

For the second time.

"This has nothing to do with me," Pamela defended herself innocently.

At that moment, a white figure flashed past the window.

"Was that Gwen?"

Manhattan

The massive sandstorm rampaged through the streets, finally stopping abruptly beside an armored cash transport truck in front of a bank.

"What the hell is that?!"

One of the guards exclaimed in terror. Before he could react, a violent gust of sand struck him unconscious.

Another guard hastily grabbed his radio and shouted, "The armored truck is under attack! Requesting immediate backup!"

From within the sandstorm, grains of sand rapidly converged, gradually forming the tall figure of a man dressed in a green striped shirt.

Flint Marko revealed himself, striding toward the armored truck. He grabbed two bags of cash and prepared to leave.

Suddenly, the wailing of sirens filled the air as several police cars sped onto the scene, blocking the road.

"Drop the money!"

Officers exited their vehicles and aimed their weapons at Flint Marko, their expressions tense and serious.

"I don't want to hurt you. Step aside," Flint warned loudly, his voice carrying a hint of menace.

"Open fire!"

At the command, a barrage of bullets rained upon Flint, passing straight through his body. However, instead of blood and flesh, only loose grains of sand scattered onto the ground.

"I told you to step aside!"

Flint's arm instantly dissolved into sand, transforming into a massive fist. With a powerful swing, countless grains of sand shot out like bullets, whistling through the air.

The officers' faces paled as they scrambled behind their cars for cover. The deafening sound of sand striking metal echoed continuously.

Taking advantage of their hesitation, Flint turned and attempted to flee in another direction.

At that moment, a white figure descended from the sky, shooting a web that latched onto the money bags. With a forceful tug, the cash was snatched away.

"Sandman, that doesn't belong to you."

Standing firmly on the ground was none other than Ghost-Spider, Gwen.

"Give it back!"

Flint roared furiously, his eyes burning with rage. The police gunfire had already enraged him, and now Spider-Man had interfered. His anger reached its peak.

Flint charged at Gwen, commanding a tidal wave of sand to engulf her.

Gwen agilely flipped and dodged, moving as if she were dancing mid-air. She continuously shot webs, trying to restrain Flint's movements.

"You're committing a crime, Sandman!" Ghost-Spider called out.

"I just need the money!"

Flint roared. "The world has never been fair to me! I have to fight for myself!"

A fierce chase unfolded through the streets.

The police watched nervously from the sidelines, unwilling to intervene recklessly. They knew their weapons were ineffective against Sandman.

A massive sand fist formed and swung at Ghost-Spider.

Gwen, while dodging, quickly thought of a way to stop him. She knew she couldn't let Flint escape, or he would continue his crimes.

Then, she spotted a construction site not far away and came up with a plan.

Intentionally, Ghost-Spider lured Flint toward the construction site.

Focused solely on reclaiming the money, Flint failed to notice her ploy and pursued relentlessly.

As soon as they entered the construction site, Gwen used her webs to swing between the building materials, limiting Flint's attacks.

Frustrated, Flint roared and rampaged through the site, demolishing structures in an attempt to find her.

"You can't run forever!" Flint shouted.

Hiding behind a large steel beam, Ghost-Spider observed Flint's movements.

She noticed he was fully focused on searching for her. Seizing the opportunity, she shot webs to secure some heavy construction materials.

As Flint approached, Gwen yanked the webs, causing the materials to come crashing down.

Flint had no time to evade and was buried beneath the debris.

"Phew, finally done," Gwen sighed in relief.

However, just as she thought it was over, the sand beneath the debris began shifting.

Flint emerged, more furious than before.

"Now you've really made me mad!"

His body transformed into a massive, towering sandstorm, surging toward Gwen like a tidal wave, threatening to engulf her entirely.

"Perfect, let's test this out."

Gwen raised her hand, where a green gemstone ring on her finger emitted a radiant glow.

Instantly, fierce winds erupted around them, and from seemingly nowhere, a massive tornado formed.

"No… NO!"

Flint struggled to reform his body within the storm, but the powerful vortex continuously pulled his sand particles away.

Within moments, only the violent, swirling tornado remained. Flint's figure had completely vanished.

"Done!"

Gwen pulled down her mask, revealing her delicate features as she exhaled deeply.

Summer heat combined with fighting in her tight suit made her uncomfortable.

"That was a big help. I wonder when that pervert will return."

She muttered to herself, pressing a kiss onto her ring. It seemed to retain Kino's warmth, making her miss him even more.

She had gone looking for him a few days ago, but only found Pamela and his newly adopted goddaughter. That empty feeling in her heart deepened.

"Spider-Woman!"

The police officers and armored truck guards finally stepped forward, their expressions filled with shock as they stared at the unmoving tornado.

Gwen pulled down her mask slightly and corrected them.

"Officer, I told you, it's Ghost-Spider. 'Spider-Woman' just doesn't sound right."

"Got it, Ghost-Spider."

The lead officer smiled, his eyes filled with gratitude.

Most officers appreciated her presence, knowing she significantly reduced casualties among law enforcement.

Although some still viewed her as a vigilante who undermined the police force's authority, most acknowledged the good she did.
