The female journalist asked, "On what basis do you evaluate this?"
"Let me give you a well-known example. You all know Magneto, right? His ability is also widely known—he controls magnetism," Kino said.
"But have you ever considered what else he could do with it? Terrorist attacks? Controlling missiles? Think about it."
Kino's gaze swept across the audience.
"I know that magnetism is one of the four fundamental forces of the universe and has many applications, yet Magneto has only learned to control metal. He needs to go back to school," said a journalist with some scientific knowledge.
The surrounding reporters cooperated by laughing, their chuckles echoing through the hall.
Only the female journalist's gaze remained icy as she looked at him.
"Are you all idiots? Who asked you that?" Kino said, exasperated.
The hall fell into silence.
"What does controlling metal truly mean? It means he could construct skyscrapers as easily as a child stacking building blocks.
If he were a little more innovative, he could completely abandon traditional architectural styles and create his own—floating skyscrapers, moving buildings.
If Magneto had even a bit of intelligence, he could become a titan in the construction industry. Countless people would beg him to build homes for them instead of him ending up as a terrorist."
Kino spoke in one breath, his sharp gaze scanning the crowd as if questioning why no one had ever thought of this before.
The female journalist looked at Kino, her eyes filled with admiration. This was an angle they had never considered before.
Charles Xavier had always sought to integrate mutants into human society, while Erik Lehnsherr, fueled by hatred, wanted to destroy humanity.
"But, Mr. Demon King, mutants have many uncontrollable aspects. Over the years, they have caused numerous casualties. Take Professor X, for example. His ability is mind control—who wouldn't fear that?" a journalist interjected.
The reason mutants were rejected wasn't just because of propaganda spread by organizations and those in power. Some mutants had indeed acted recklessly. Most mutants developed their abilities as teenagers or even younger, an age where hormones dictated their actions, leaving them with little self-control.
"That's true. I also hate that ability. If I ever discover someone attempting to invade my mind, I won't hesitate—I'll kill them immediately."
Kino's voice was calm as he looked toward a corner of the room.
"Professor, this guy—!" Scott Summers clenched his fists in anger.
"He's not wrong. Who wouldn't hate that ability?" Logan crossed his arms.
"Logan, you really are on the Demon King's side," Scott said, annoyed.
"Scott, it's fine. He's just reminding me, not speaking with malice."
Professor X remained completely unfazed, his expression serene and his tone as gentle as ever.
He was more interested in what Kino would say next.
The female journalist's expression darkened slightly. Yes, the mutant community had inherent problems that couldn't be solved by an individual alone.
"Then why not simply separate them from humanity?"
"Separate them? And where would they go?"
"The desert."
Kino continued, "Mutant abilities vary greatly—controlling weather, generating water, manipulating soil, growing plants. All these abilities are the perfect conditions for creating an oasis.
And with Magneto's power, constructing a steel city in the desert wouldn't be difficult at all."
Yes! The female journalist's eyes sparkled with newfound hope.
Separation could be the answer.
Professor X fell into deep thought. This was a third path, separate from both his and Erik's ideologies.
"Alright, let's continue with the press conference."
Seeing no further questions, Kino stepped down from the podium.
In truth, his initial plan had been to invite mutants to Hell, but that would have been too obvious. So, instead, he proposed the desert.
Though it sounded simple, it was far from easy to achieve.
Currently, mutants were scattered and divided. Aside from Professor X's school and Magneto's Brotherhood, there was also the Hellfire Club led by the White Queen.
Beyond them, various other organizations existed, each unwilling to submit to the other.
For this idea to succeed, all mutants would have to unite, which was nearly impossible.
Only if the mutant community suffered a devastating blow could he step in—as a savior.
Kino returned to his seat.
Tony Stark leaned over and reminded him, "Kino, mutants aren't just feared because of their abilities. There are also conflicts of interest. Your speech today, favoring mutants, will make many people unhappy with you."
"I don't care. If they're unhappy, that's their problem. As long as they don't stand in my way, I won't mind. Otherwise, I won't hesitate to bring about a true demon invasion."
Kino's eyes gleamed with a chilling determination.
"I'll warn them," Tony said helplessly.
Though he knew it wouldn't help much. Even if they didn't act openly, there would definitely be plenty of underhanded tricks in the dark.
Just then, a servant in a qipao approached.
"Leader, someone is looking for you."
"I know. Take them to the backstage area."
Kino had already guessed who it was. He turned to Tony and Pepper. "Tony, Pepper, I have to excuse myself for now."
"You're going to be busy for a while," Tony shrugged.
"Goodbye, Kino," Pepper said with a smile.
Kino nodded and followed the servant toward the conference room.
Before long, he spotted a familiar figure and, excited, rushed forward to hug him.
"Logan! It's been a long time!"
"Kid, let go. You're a grown man now—stop acting like a child."
Logan's expression was one of distaste, but he made no effort to push Kino away.
"Heh, it's been so long, after all! But ugh, you reek of smoke. Disgusting. I'm never hugging you again."
Kino fanned his nose with a look of exaggerated disgust.
"You brat," Logan muttered with a chuckle.
He relaxed slightly. It seemed Kino hadn't changed—still the same, even a little more playful.
"Logan, I started a big company. Want to work for me?"
"No thanks. The $1.5 million you gave me last time isn't even spent yet."
"That's a shame. I was going to offer you a very easy, high-paying job."
"What kind of job?"
"Test subject. With your amazing body, not using it for medical trials is a complete waste."
"You brat, you just want to experiment on me!"
"$100,000 per test, with bonuses on top."
"...That's not a bad deal."
Logan rubbed his chin, tempted.
Jean Grey stood behind them, quietly observing.
On television, Kino had the demeanor of an unshakable Demon King. On stage, he had spoken with unwavering confidence.
And yet, here he was, joking and laughing with Logan like a carefree young man.
Which one was the real him?
Jean couldn't help but wonder, her eyes filled with curiosity and doubt.
Scott Summers, on the other hand, looked displeased, but he remained silent, remembering Professor X's instructions.
