Chapter 72 - Chapter 72: The Trouble Brought by Miles

Miles was quite anxious, unsure of what to do at the moment.

This discovery had completely thrown him into panic.

He even went back to Aunt May's house, hoping to get some help.

But when he arrived, he remembered that Aunt May's house had already been blown up.

So, he quickly moved in another direction.

He could only hope that Bruce and the others were still here and hadn't left.

At least then, he would have a few people to discuss this matter with.

However, when he arrived at the now-ruined Kane Manor, there was nothing there.

He was truly at a loss.

But in the next moment, a figure appeared before him.

Bruce, clad in full battle armor, stood in front of him.

Miles said to Bruce, "My uncle... he's the Prowler!"

Bruce didn't say anything, silently scrutinizing Miles.

Walking up to him, Bruce removed a small tracker from Miles' body.

Seeing the small device still running, it was clear that Miles had brought trouble with him.

"I... I didn't know..." Miles was at a loss, never imagining he'd been followed.

At the time, he had been completely devastated by the revelation.

Naturally, he hadn't had the energy to pay attention to such details.

But now, it was obvious that he had led trouble straight here.

Miles wanted to say something more, but the Bat had already moved away from him.

As Bruce withdrew, Miles' spider-sense also triggered.

He chose to leave his original position as well.

A purple figure descended directly onto the spot.

Perhaps due to his equipment, the figure could move and strike with completely superhuman speed and strength.

But he was definitely not here for a friendly chat.

"We just need to cooperate, and we can both get what we want." The Prowler (Note 1) spoke to Miles, but his gaze remained fixed on Bruce in his black armor.

As a super-criminal making a living in New York City, he naturally knew what kind of superheroes had recently appeared in the city.

He knew what those guys were like.

But recently, this Bat had become completely infamous among New York's super-criminals.

In one night, he had quelled the chaos of New York.

He even rounded up all the gangs that had instigated the chaos, shocking the super-criminals as well.

Though they all looked down on gangsters, super-criminals knew that dealing with them in such a short time was impossible.

Those guys were like sewer rats—endless and impossible to catch.

So, the Bat who had quelled the chaos overnight had gained a mysterious aura in their eyes.

The Prowler had never imagined that his nephew would be able to find the Bat.

"I think you know our relationship, so I suggest you'd better leave here, don't you?" The Prowler spread his claws.

He didn't want to face this overly mysterious figure.

Moreover, he didn't know if his nephew would help him or not.

The best option was to make the Bat leave.

Bruce said nothing, silently watching the Prowler, who had assumed a combat stance.

The Prowler didn't waste any more words. Since they couldn't reach an agreement, the fight was on.

He burst into full speed, closing in on Bruce in an instant.

But Bruce seemed completely unresponsive. The Prowler thought he could even see the look of fear beneath the Bat's mask.

The Prowler reached out for a deadly strike.

Yet before his claws could touch Bruce's chest, a figure had already leaped out.

A red-suited long leg kicked the Prowler's head.

Due to inertia, the Prowler found it hard to control his body and dodge the kick during the sprint.

Not to mention, his mind was entirely focused on the Bat.

He had succeeded somewhat—his claws did touch the Bat's chest armor.

But they only produced sparks and left slight marks on the surface.

The Prowler rolled several times on the ground before finally coming to a stop when he crashed into the walls of the Kane Manor.

If not for the fact that his suit was still in relatively good condition, that kick, combined with the impact, might have left him unable to get back up.

Jessica straightened up, standing beside the Bat, an oddly harmonious sight.

After all, with a blood-red suit paired with the Bat's pitch-black attire, they hardly looked like superheroes.

At least in terms of color scheme, the Prowler might actually fit the role better than the two of them.

The Prowler had never imagined that superheroes would call for backup.

By all logic, wasn't that supposed to be their tactic?

Glancing at Miles, who was clearly struggling internally, the Prowler gritted his teeth and prepared to pull out his smoke bomb for a quick escape.

But then he realized—his smoke bomb was gone.

Lifting his gaze to the Bat, the only person he had come into close contact with in the past few moments, he wondered—at that speed, in that timeframe, could that guy really have reacted in time?

Bruce was inspecting the Prowler's smoke bomb, trying to see if he could learn anything from it.

"Osborn Corporation?" Bruce frowned. In this world, Osborn had long since become part of history.

Yet, this guy was still using Osborn's tech—something was definitely off.

"Miles! What are you waiting for? Help me!" The Prowler clearly knew he had no way out of this situation on his own.

He could only shout at Miles, hoping his nephew would help him escape.

Miles hesitated, but the moment he heard the Prowler call out in his real voice, he instinctively stepped between Jessica and Bruce.

Jessica wanted to say something, but Bruce stopped her.

That brief hesitation was all the Prowler needed—he seized the opportunity and vanished from their sight.

"S-sorry…" Miles knew he had made a mistake, but right now, his mind was in turmoil.

Everything felt like a complete mess.

All he could do was apologize.

Jessica was seriously questioning why she had ever agreed to let this guy take on the mantle of Spider-Man.

She wanted to scold Miles, but Bruce held her back.

She turned to Bruce, ready to say something—but he was already moving.

A powerful right hook struck Miles directly in the face.

Even as Spider-Man, Miles couldn't withstand the force and was sent crashing to the ground.

Miles looked up in shock at Bruce, who had just thrown the punch.

In that instant, his Spider-Sense went into overdrive.

It was the strongest reaction he had ever experienced since gaining his powers.

Bruce could kill him.

"You shouldn't be apologizing to us," Bruce said coldly. "The one you owe an apology to is Aunt May. Your reckless actions have only put her in danger."

"And now, you've let a criminal learn our general location."

Miles froze.

Only now did he remember—Aunt May was with the Bat and Jessica.

Because of his carelessness, everything had just gotten worse.

He didn't say a word.

He just turned and ran.

He ran.

"Was that too much?" Jessica asked, looking at Bruce. After all, it was rare for him to resort to physical punishment like that.

"He has to go through it eventually," Bruce said as he turned toward the Batcave.

"What about the Prowler?" Jessica asked, worried about what tricks he might pull after escaping.

"He won't get far."

In Bruce's hand, a small red dot was moving rapidly across a screen.

Note: The Prowler is Miles' uncle and a villain. In the comics, Miles became Spider-Man after being bitten by a genetically modified spider that the Prowler had stolen from Osborn Corporation.
