Bruce took out the baked lobster from last night, which he hadn't eaten.
He placed it in the microwave to heat it up.
At the same time, his mind was preoccupied with Jessica's situation.
Judging from Jessica's handwriting, while she had been in a hurry, it seemed more like someone had been urging her to leave.
This proved that when Jessica left, she wasn't alone.
But Bruce didn't believe that just anyone could break into the Batcave's security.
Not even S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
When he had moved these items from S.H.I.E.L.D.'s safe house and secret base, he had already scanned everything.
He had also completely reassembled them at the fundamental level, ensuring that no vulnerabilities were left behind.
There was no way anything related to S.H.I.E.L.D. remained.
Ding!
The microwave beeped, and Bruce took out the plate of cheese-baked lobster.
He walked straight to the control panel.
Pulling up all the surveillance footage from around the Batcave last night.
As he expected, there had been no intrusions into the Batcave.
But there was also no trace of Jessica leaving.
No one had entered, and no one had exited.
Yet Jessica had vanished without a trace.
Everything about this situation felt strange.
Bruce knew that ghosts and similar entities might exist in this world, but even they wouldn't be able to make a living person disappear completely.
Even so-called grand illusion magic tricks merely relied on misdirection and various magician's props.
And, of course, a beautiful assistant working with the magician.
Bruce set aside his half-eaten lobster and opened another surveillance feed.
This one monitored the corridor and the entrance to Jessica's room.
He played back last night's footage, carefully observing Jessica's door.
As if he could uncover the reason for her disappearance from there.
And for Bruce, that might actually be possible.
At a certain point in the footage, Bruce noticed something unusual.
Jessica's room emitted a faint glow.
It wasn't the color of the room's usual lighting but seemed more like some other unstable light source.
But what kind of glow could be strong enough to seep through a well-sealed door?
However, the light appeared and disappeared in an instant.
Bruce didn't rush to analyze this moment further.
He let the video continue playing.
Sure enough, not long after, the same glow appeared in Jessica's room again.
After that, nothing else happened.
Now, the reason Jessica left a note and disappeared from the Batcave was clearly connected to those two mysterious flashes of light.
Something urgent involving Jessica.
And something capable of silently taking her away.
Bruce could think of only one explanation.
Teleportation.
However, based on his understanding of S.H.I.E.L.D., those guys hadn't fully mastered teleportation technology yet.
Previously, they had managed to transport three agents across the world in an instant, but that had only been possible because of Thor's abilities.
That Norse god had been incredibly powerful at the time.
S.H.I.E.L.D. had indeed been researching teleportation.
But they hadn't made any real progress.
So even if S.H.I.E.L.D. had wanted to take Jessica away, they wouldn't have had the capability to do so.
But if it wasn't S.H.I.E.L.D.'s doing…
Then who else could have pulled this off?
Bruce shook his head.
His line of thinking was flawed.
He had been focused on who had taken Jessica.
But the real question was—why did Jessica go with them?
That was the key.
Likewise, what is it about Jessica that those guys need?
Bruce had an idea, but he needed to verify it.
After all, Jessica wasn't the only one of her kind in this world.
At the very least, he knew of another.
The Batwing disappeared into the Batcave.
Bruce moved at top speed toward his intended destination.
By the time he arrived at Brooklyn Visions Academy, he was met with two anxious faces.
Miles' parents.
At that moment, Jefferson was making urgent phone calls, while Rio Morales was also frantically calling everyone who might have any information on their son's whereabouts.
Bruce easily tapped into their phone conversations.
Jefferson was using his position to call every officer he knew, desperately trying to get any leads on his son.
But all he got were frustrating responses.
No one had seen his son.
Miles had seemingly vanished without a trace.
It appeared that Miles had disappeared as well.
Two individuals with spider-like abilities disappearing on the same day—it was clearly not a coincidence.
However, for Bruce, his immediate priority was to calm Miles' parents.
At the very least, to give them some reassurance.
He leaped directly out of the Batwing.
In broad daylight, the sudden appearance of the Bat immediately drew everyone's attention.
"Hey!" Jefferson clearly had no fondness for masked vigilantes.
As Bruce landed, Jefferson's hand instinctively moved to his waist.
That was where his firearm—a source of security—was holstered.
But against masked figures like these, even a gun didn't offer much reassurance.
After all, no one knew what kind of abilities these people possessed.
What if the man in front of him could catch bullets like peanuts?
"I'll take care of your son's situation," Bruce said calmly.
Jefferson's stance did nothing to intimidate him.
"I think you should take off your mask first, so we can—" Jefferson started to say, but his wife cut him off before he could finish.
"Can you help us find Miles?" Rio was clearly more concerned about her son's safety.
She had made countless calls just moments ago, but none had brought any good news.
Although Miles had gone missing before, at least back then, he had eventually shown up at school.
Now, no one knew where he was.
Even his roommate, Ganke Lee, had no information.
He hadn't seen Miles either.
The arrival of the Bat gave Rio a glimmer of hope.
"That's exactly why I'm here," Bruce said, following Rio's lead.
"Don't worry, your son will come back."
As Bruce spoke, a cloud of smoke slowly spread around them.
Jefferson rushed forward, trying to see where Bruce had gone, only to look up and see the Batwing taking off above them.
"Whoa~"
The Batwing sliced through the sky and vanished.
Bruce now had a clearer understanding of the situation.
But he still needed more information and evidence.
