Back on Liora's side, after the group had fought through wave after wave of zombies, there was finally a brief silence. The area around their houses seemed a little more manageable. It felt like they had killed hundreds, and for a second, they thought it was finally over. But that hope didn't last.
The difference was barely noticeable. The air was still heavy with the scent of blood, and the ground was covered in corpses. Liora wiped the sweat from her forehead and glanced around, ready to face more enemies.
Then something strange happened.
In the midst of fighting, no one noticed at first. Everyone was too busy hacking, slashing, killing, and surviving. But slowly, they began to realize.
The zombies weren't moving at all.
They weren't growling or charging anymore. They stood there, rooted in the same place, completely still. It was unnaturally eerie.
"What the hell…" someone muttered.
