Chapter 35 - Saints

The effects had happened instantly.

Stretching from Kayla's body, a three-dimensional geometric grid had extended out into an endless darkness, treating any and all masses as points. This included the bulging eye, Astra herself, and all of the objects inside the house.

Each of these points had their own physical 'characteristics' outlined for Kayla to see.

Mass, velocity, acceleration, direction, position, any and all forces, energy states—all such things were seen by Kayla, as if she was viewing mathematical equations.

Then, a copious amount of magnifying glasses and eyes behind them appeared at every point except Astra. It was as if these 'eyes' were measuring the physical characteristics of each point.

"Collapse." Kayla's mouth didn't move, but her voice had resonated throughout the entire geometrical grid.

In an instant, the geometrical grid shook silently as each point aside from Astra suddenly shifted its position and 'transported' to a random point in the grid.

In no time whatsoever, this action completely disintegrated the house along with the bulging eye.

However, this couldn't have been seen in the outside world, as Kayla had already 'concealed' the fight.

Inside the three dimensional grid, Kayla had noticed anomalies from an unknown distance away.

In a certain direction, the lines were appearing to converge to a single point!

As they converged, they appeared to draw out a circle that had symbols inside of it, each symbol containing an immense amount of knowledge.

"Transform, and negate." Kayla's voice had resounded through the grid again. However, this time, any and all lines on the grid had suddenly turned into arrows, each heading toward the direction of the circle that had strange symbols.

Not even a second later, all of the 'arrows' had their directions reversed and their magnitudes amplified.

Kayla had turned any and all points on the grid, except Astra, into vectors!

In that instant, the large circle which had large symbols on it appeared in front of Kayla. It looked as if its height and width stretched out indefinitely. It looked like a 'plane' on an xyz axis.

Kayla now had the opportunity to be on the offensive. She wanted to take advantage of the opportunity, but she had heard a quiet sound vibrate in her ears. It sounded as if it was from a female:

"Sleep."

Immediately, Kayla's surroundings turned pitch black and illusory.

Though, this was not from a dream.

She had turned her surroundings into a vacuum, preventing any sound from reaching her ears!

Unfortunately, this vacuum was the perfect medium for light to travel.

Without having time to react, the large circle that looked as if it took up the sky appeared above Kayla. It had a near-endless amount of symbols, each containing an immense amount of knowledge and energy.

Without a sound, each of the symbols lit up brightly, casting its light over the vacuum.

The light then turned corporeal and solidified as it 'poured' over Kayla.

"Sleep." With a medium for sound to travel in, the female voice didn't hesitate to speak her voice again.

This was their trap! To make Kayla create a vacuum so that the 'solid' light can travel and wrap around her!

As such, this female voice resonated throughout the entire space, making all those who were in the space able to hear it.

Of course, since it was only directed towards Kayla and her companion, it didn't affect anyone but them.

"…"

In a random spot in the three dimensional grid, a hooded, robed figure waited for the grid to dispel as the light continuously 'poured' down.

He seemed to be awaiting the moment the grid would dispel. Only by doing so they could have an advantageous position instead of a defensive one.

"It's not going away…" In another spot, another hooded and robed figure said to himself as didn't feel his enhanced intuition tell him that the space was dispelled.

Furthermore, he looked down and still saw the light pouring down the seemingly infinite darkness.

Mimicking the pouring of light, the man was thoughtless as he felt water trickle down his face.

He knew something had gone wrong!

This was because the moment Kayla heard "Sleep", she was immediately supposed to be put in a dreamlike state. This state was imaginary and illusory, one where the powers of the Dimension of Science and Physics would be the weakest.

This would almost instantly dispel the three dimensional grid that Kayla had set up.

However, the grid hadn't disappeared.

In fact, none of the actions that they had planned for had happened!

It didn't take long for the two figures in the grid to figure out the problem.

Strangely, even though the grid hadn't vanished, Kayla had vanished instead! And the reason why was because of the voice that said "Sleep" to her!

By doing so, a connection was made, and Kayla used that to disappear from her position!

Dressed in a black suit that touched her ankles, Kayla appeared dozens of meters before a robed, hooded figure in the Lunan sky. They were above the neon velvet glow of the intercity, almost nearing the clouds.

The figure's face that stared at Kayla couldn't have been seen, but it was obvious that the figure was a female.

Furthermore, it was obvious that she was shocked.

"Huh?" With a surprised face that couldn't have been seen, the female figure gasped as she saw the brown haired, black suited lady appear before her. The lady looked like she resembled the cosmos.

"What happened? Why am I above the sky?" The robed lady thought as she hurriedly tried to use her powers of dreams to enter Kayla's subconscious.

Unfortunately for her, this attempt that she tried didn't work.

She didn't dwell on this, though. Immediately, her figure glowed a purplish hue as she tried to make her body turn ethereal.

However, she wasn't fast enough. Kayla used 'Entanglement' to immediately teleport to the robed figure's location.

"Phase." Kayla's calm and polite voice resonated through the hooded lady's ears as she felt a hand pass through her robe as if it didn't exist.

Grab!

Immediately, Kayla's hands reached the lady's chest as she snatched a silver amulet from it.

She let the silver amulet that had midnight blue streaks hang from her wrist as she intently stared at the object.

Closing her eyes, Kayla let out a sigh of disappointment as she glanced at the hooded lady.

"This thing explains how you and the others navigated through my projection like that. This level of preparation isn't bad."

"A projection? That space was just a projection? How is that possible?" A shiver ran down the lady's spine.

"Wasn't she supposed to be weakened? Then how is she this strong that such a space was a projection, and not the actual, real lattice?"

"Did she regain her strength? No…it's possible that she was never weakened in the first place!"

The hooded lady, who had finally begun to process everything, couldn't help but think such thoughts out of fear.

She didn't want to waste any more time. In less than a second, a dense, illusory grey fog spiraled from the lady, rapidly expanding outwards from the sky and into the city.

"Hahaha!"

"No…"

"Ah!"

"Sob…sob…"

"Growl…"

All sorts of noises and sounds vibrated faintly through the fog, as if there were actual living creatures inside of it.

Illusory eyes, limbs, and all sorts of combinations from the parts of living beings began to manifest.

Just as the fog was about to spiral into something more corporeal formed from the user's imagination, Kayla's eyes began to shimmer like the night sky. The white spots from her suit that represented stars immediately left her body and circled behind her, as if it was an illusory halo.

At that very moment, the robed and hooded lady froze in place.

She tried to move to control the grey fog, but she couldn't. It was as if all of her joints had been frozen in time.

Right above her, at a level that surpassed the heights of the skies, a great, black void appeared. It completely overshadowed the velvet moon, taking up a great portion of the sky.

On the edges of the black void were all sorts of indescribable colors. It spilled from the void as if it wanted to reach out to the world to assimilate with it.

As the colors spilled from the void, portions of the night sky shattered like glass.

In that instant, the hooded and robed figure's heart sank as her immobile body began to produce a sweat that couldn't have been made.

She then heard a voice that sounded angelic, ethereal:

"O Goddess of Humanity, you are the one who rests above the cosmos, the harbinger of life and curiosity…"

"You are the Goddess of the First Dimension…the Dimension of Space, Time, and all Laws governing the mysterious."

"No. No! No!" The robed lady thought as her face remained immobile.

"I have to inform the rest about this woman. Her power hasn't decreased in the slightest!"

"That bastard Lucian lied to me! He lied!"

"He didn't want us to defeat this monster. He was secretly working together with her!"

"I have to inform them! At the very least, if one of them runs away, the organization that we've built up for years can last!"

Before the robed lady could regret any further, the colors surrounding the great black void condensed and converged towards the center of it, forming a single, infinitesimal point. It had looked like the eye of a deity who had casted their gaze over the land.

In that instant, Kayla's body turned completely white as illusory and ethereal streaks of purple permeated through her body, appearing as veins. She hovered above the sky as if she was being lifted up by something.

Her mouth was open as if she wanted to scream, but no words came out.

As for the robed lady, her body began to squirm as it was consciously resisting the force of the void. During this process, her face was still immobile, as if it didn't contain any traces of life.

"No!!!" Inwardly she screamed, but no one heard.

Not long after, her body, along with the grey fog, fully condensed into a point of light that trailed instantly towards the center of the void.

In the three dimensional grid, the two hooded figures were navigating the area.

They were trying their best to leave this space that was tainted with light, but they were unable to do so.

Though, before they even thought about the idea they were trapped, the illusory light had completely left the space. It was as if someone had 'switched off' the lights.

Before the hooded figures could even react, the entire space began to break and shatter, forming illusory glass shards.

The 'lines' that were inside of the grid all began to point in a single direction toward the sky, as if it was being rotated by an invisible force.

In that moment, the hooded figures had looked up, and saw a great, dense void covering the entire sky. Indescribable colors were trailing inside of it, and they looked as if they too were turning into those colors.

They tried to form a thought, but their minds were frozen, along with their bodies. Soon after, they contorted into an illusory point of light as they trailed towards the center of the dark, empty expanse.

And just like that, the highest echelons of Dimensional Thieves had been destroyed.

On the ground, in the city of Luna, many inhabitants, residents, immigrants, people from all facets of society, stared at the void that seemed to contain an infinite amount of colors at its edge.

It covered the entire sky, even overshadowing the tall megastructures and the massive aerial vehicles that occupied the cyber skyline.

This empty expanse was many times larger than the rings that streaked the atmosphere, and even the velvet moon.

As if the velvet moon was responding to this event, it instantly grew several orders of magnitudes. It was as if an invisible force stretched it out so that it could cover the entirety of the night sky.

Then, it turned into a crescent moon as it looked as if it wanted to 'devour' the dark, expansive void.

The two points at the end of the velvet crescent moon then wrapped around the void completely.

Instantly, the crescent moon had turned into a full moon, causing the dark expanse to disappear completely. Soon after, the full moon shrunk to its original size.

This sequence of events happened in less than a second. The pedestrians, civilians, normal citizens…all of them had seen the dark and empty void. They had seen the moon devour the void, and they had seen it turn back to normal.

Most of these people wanted to scream, but right when they were about to, they had forgot about what they wanted to do.

It was as if they had never even thought about it in the first place.

As such, they had all gone about their normal lives. Some went to sleep, while others continued to work.

After all, they hadn't seen a thing.

It was as if they had forgotten a dream.
