Chapter 8 - The world is way bigger than you think

In the backyard.

— I got it, Stalor, don't worry. If I get tired, Vivar can simply reverse my exhaustion and we can explore a few places in the world in less than a day.

— Thanks, Telef. Since it's only a few hours, our brothers won't come back in that time window, right?

— I hope not. But we need to meet new places sometimes.

Stalor and his siblings were all holding hands. Telef's power was a simple teleportation, but it had some rules. The valid locations were only inside his field of view. And he could not phase through solid objects, only air and liquids. Of course, other limitation was the visibility of the place, due to translucent fogs and everything that limits vision.

He closed his yellow eyes and took a deep breath. It would obviously tire him out if he kept doing that for hours. But Vivar's power could heal not just his body, but also his exhaustion. He looked at the sky, since he would have a greater field of view there. Also, whoever was in direct or indirect contact with him could be affected by his power.

Done, all four teleported. They would usually freak out, but it would not help them. All of them free falling, yet holding each other's hand. They enjoyed the view for some seconds before teleporting again. Telef could do that many times in a second, but he wanted everyone to enjoy the trip. Also, they could get sick if everything around them changed so quickly.

After a few minutes, they were in a snowy biome, contrasting with the nearby desert. They landed on the ground, since the teleportation could remove the falling speed. Telef quickly made a snowball and threw on Eternia's face, laughing.

— Do you like this, sister? I think you should cool down your head a bit!

Eternia looked away, apparently annoyed. But she gave up on masking her feeling, so she just took a snowball and threw towards her brother, smiling. The others also joined in the fun. Stalor swinged his white shoe, releasing an average air current. He then transformed it into snow, falling on everyone. Vivar said:

— Hey, that's not fair, haha!

Telef made two snowballs and threw them towards Stalor. But they teleported right into his face.

— Haha, how about this, loser?

— You started it, and I hope you won't regret it!

They spent more time playing around, until they were tired. Vivar healed their exhaustion and they resumed the trip.

Now, they were in a modern city, just like in Earth. They entered a cafe. Since they didn't have any money from that country, they just ordered a simple coffee and used the free laptop and wifi. Eternia was mesmerized:

— Wow, what's this? In my hundreds of years, I never saw this magic before!

— This is not magic, Eternia. Vivar, Telef, this is the "computer" I was talking about, even though it works a bit different.

Vivar smiled:

— Looks like that Japan is quite wonderful, Stalor. And you've adapted well there.

— Well, adapting is quite easy on a place like that. I can't live without technology now.

— That sounds like an addiction...

Stalor looked at the counter where the waitress was. She had gone somewhere else, like the kitchen or the restroom. He had an amazing idea:

— Hey, people. You know these devices are a little expensive, right? That means a few cups of coffee won't matter much to them.

Vivar was confused:

— What are you insinuating?

— You'll know in a few seconds.

Stalor was next to the window, so he just moved towards it. He used his power to make the wall and glass turn into air for some seconds, as he "phased" through it. He waved at them and ran away. Vivar looked to the side, but Telef was already passing through the door.

— Ehh?! Hey, don't leave us here!

The waitress came back and shouted:

— Hey, you still have to pay for the coffee!

Desperate, Vivar took Eternia's hand and ran away. She finally reached the mischievous brothers, out of breath. She looked at them and pouted, annoyed by their attitude:

— You can't simply steal! That's wrong!

Smiling, Telef quickly took her hand, since she was still holding Eternia's, and teleported everyone to the sky. They resumed the trip again.

They were now in a rainforest, but there were immense fungi in the shadows of the big trees. Stalor took a stick from the ground that looked like a small sword. Amazed by it, he said:

— Hey, Telef, look at this! Let's do a swordfight!

— I was waiting for you to say that!

Telef showed something he picked from the ground. It was a tall but thin mushroom, also looking like a sword. They started playing with their newfound weapons. Incredulous, Vivar murmured:

— What are they, kids? Jeez...

Eternia was sitting on the ground and munching something, like a baby eating a toy because it looks funny. Vivar looked at her, surprised she could find anything edible in that weird forest.

— What are you doing, Eternia?!

She was eating mushrooms she took from the ground. They were colorful and obviously poisonous. Vivar quickly grabbed the ones that were still on her hand and threw them away.

— Are you insane?! What if I wasn't here? You would die from poison and stupidity!

— Why are you so desperate? Their taste is not the best, but I won't die from them.

Vivar remembered her sister also had a power. It was immortality and indestructibility. It affected not only her, but everything and everyone nearby. Eternia commented:

— You wouldn't die from it either.

Vivar sighed heavily.

They were now in a extremely futuristic city, something not even Stalor was used to see. Eternia exclaimed, as she saw the crowded sky:

— Flying monsters!

Stalor giggled and corrected her:

— They're spaceships, dummy.

— What is that?

— They can fly and transport people and objects. But they're so complex that not even Japan is close to that level of technology.

A robot passed nearby, offering free drinks to everyone. It had a cute face on its monitor. Vivar and Eternia were amazed by everything, so they started looking around. Telef commented:

— I've heard this place is a monarchy. Most of its people follow the rules inconditionally. But not in a dictatorship way.

— How did you know that?

— I like geopolitics, you know. And we should have some information about where we should live next, right?

— You're absolutely right, brother. I didn't know you also wanted to leave that "shithole", as Eternia mentioned.

— Did you really think I liked that stupid idiocracy? This right here is an example of great government. We haven't moved yet because of bureaucracy and fear of the unknown.

— And our brothers, don't forget. But you're right, I guess. At least for now, since the royal family is getting a little old.

— You're saying their successor will be a disaster? If beauty equals competence, I think that princess will be set for life. Have you seen that gorgeous white hair? And those beautiful crystal blue eyes?

 — Alright, I get it, Telef. We'll get you a girlfriend, don't worry. She's not on your league.

— You didn't have to crush my dream, Stalor!

When they were satisfied, they moved on to the next and last place. On top of a mountain, they were enjoying the view and breeze. Below, there was a somewhat big village. It looked rather mystical, like a certain wise tree.

However, something was really strange in that place. Even though it had been several hours since they left the house, this village was located so far away from there that the time zone was completely different. It was supposed to be day or evening in that time, but it was night. Eternia looked at the sky, noticing something:

— This place was made for me. Eternal night, just like my life.

She pointed her finger towards it. It was almost invisible, since it was too dark. But they finally noticed that the stars were not visible in a huge circular area. She continued:

— A black hole so nearby... It sucks in the light around it, even when the sun is present.

Amazed, Stalor said:

— I have heard about a black hole near Lifen, but... I didn't know it was this close. How is this planet still intact?

Eternia answered, knowing about the subject:

— It's small, compared to our planet. Also, it's not a normal black hole, of course. It's probably made of magic residue.

— Magic residue?

— This village seems rather mystical, so many wizards live here, probably. Their magic release magic residue, so it keeps accumulating somewhere. Maybe they just store it in the sky.
