Before leaving for good, he visited the private training hall once more. No one knew he was there.
This was the first place where Orion had trained him. He sat there, eyes closed, the memories flashing back. It felt like he had lost a brother.
He opened his eyes and rose to his feet. He realized he couldn't afford to be distracted now. He had work to finish. He knew both Orion and Selene were in a better place—and he had made sure of it.
When he returned to the Underworld, Liz was already waiting for him.
"You sure you want to go? The gods are pretty upset. The sky's been dark all day," she said.
He grinned. "Yeah. What's the worst that can happen, right?"
Liz laughed.
Kael had special armor made for both of them. After saying their goodbyes, they reappeared on the surface.
To save Thanatos, they needed a boat. And the only place they could get one was in Poseidria. The problem? Kael was a wanted man there.
