Chapter 121 - Chapter 121: Death God, Martial God?

"From the Divine Realm, a second-tier deity, the God of Speed..."

"From the Divine Realm, another second-tier deity..."

Hearing this list, Li Si felt utterly stunned.

Lin Fan's life was truly charmed! So many gods were lining up to pass down their divine positions to him.

The only relatively "normal" one among them was the God of Destruction, who wanted to put Lin Fan through the wringer first before granting him the divine inheritance.

The others, including the God of Asura, seemed desperate to pass on their divine positions and escape the responsibilities of the Divine Realm as soon as possible!

But had anyone considered whether Lin Fan actually wanted these inheritances?

Li Si could confidently say: Not a chance. Lin Fan wouldn't want them! No way!

The thought made him furious.

Just as Li Si was gnashing his teeth, the deity's voice rang out again.

"Beyond the stars of Douluo, an ancient deity not belonging to the Douluo Divine Realm—the Death God—has also taken interest in Lin Fan. The Death God sees Lin Fan, with his Nether Envoy martial spirit, as a suitable inheritor."

Li Si froze.

The Death God?

Just from the name alone, it was clear this deity was no simple figure.

But why had the Death God chosen Lin Fan?

No matter how Li Si thought about it, he couldn't wrap his head around it.

"Lin Fan has twin martial spirits and can only accept two divine inheritances at most," the deity explained. "Through ranking, weaker and less compatible inheritances have already been excluded."

Li Si blinked. "Why exclude the weaker ones? What if Lin Fan prefers something like that?"

The deity: "..."

You truly are Lin Fan's best friend. He's lucky to have you!

This time, the deity chose not to respond.

If not for divine intervention, such decisions wouldn't be up to Lin Fan anyway.

The stronger gods would never let their chosen inheritor go to weaker gods with little power or influence.

The deity continued:

"Now, Li Si, you have three choices.

Press the left button: Lin Fan will inherit the Asura God's legacy and the Death God's legacy. Other gods' attention on him will be blocked.Press the right button: Lin Fan will inherit the God of Destruction's legacy and the Death God's legacy. Similarly, other gods' attention will be blocked."

Li Si frowned.

Why was the Death God so insistent on Lin Fan? Was it just because of his evolved Nether Envoy spirit?

"Is Lin Fan guaranteed to receive the Death God's inheritance?" Li Si asked.

"Yes," the deity confirmed.

"The Death God began observing Lin Fan the moment his martial spirit evolved into the Nether Envoy."

"Why?"

"Because the Nether Envoy's appearance mirrors the Death God's own true form."

Li Si: "..."

Alright, with that explanation, everything suddenly made sense.

The gods of the Douluo Divine Realm might be weak overall, but they had some unique abilities.

The Nether Envoy, a martial spirit that wasn't supposed to exist, had appeared without the Death God's direct involvement.

How could that not intrigue the Death God and draw their attention?

"And what is the third option?" Li Si asked curiously.

The first two choices involved inheriting a God King-level legacy plus the Death God's inheritance.

But the Death God wasn't part of the Douluo Divine Realm, which made them even more mysterious and potentially powerful.

If the Death God's inheritance couldn't be avoided, then perhaps Lin Fan could skip the other God King-level legacies.

Li Si knew Lin Fan well. Lin Fan thrived on hard work, struggle, and self-made success. He wouldn't value divine inheritances handed to him like charity.

Directly becoming a God King? Lin Fan would never accept such a shortcut!

A slightly weaker divine position wouldn't be a problem. Lin Fan could climb the ranks on his own, starting from a second-tier deity and gradually working his way up to a first-tier deity, then to a pseudo-God King, and finally to a true God King.

The deity explained the third option:

"Press the middle button: Lin Fan will inherit the Death God's legacy and later create his own divine position. The Douluo Divine Realm's gods will be blocked from observing him.

"Those gods will forget Lin Fan's existence. Unless he stands directly before them, they won't be able to sense him within the Douluo Divine Realm."

Hearing this, Li Si fell silent.

Create his own divine position? That wasn't an easy task.

What kind of divine position would Lin Fan create?

In Douluo Continent, becoming a god required either faith or...

Suddenly, Li Si's face darkened.

He had forgotten about the Death God's legacy.

With that foundation, Lin Fan was practically guaranteed to succeed as the new Death God.

Creating an additional divine position wouldn't be too difficult with such a strong start.

The Asura and Destruction God positions were shortcuts to becoming a God King, but their potential was capped. Unless the Divine Realm itself evolved, there was little room for further growth.

After all, these positions were tightly bound to the Douluo Divine Realm.

As Lin Fan's best friend, Li Si might joke around, but he would never truly sabotage him.

The Death God's legacy was clearly not weak, and creating a unique divine position would allow Lin Fan to grow at his own pace.

Li Si asked cautiously, "Can you tell me the name of the divine position Lin Fan would create? And what its ultimate potential might be?"

The deity hesitated for a moment before replying.

"Martial God."

"As for the potential of this divine position, I cannot reveal that to you."

Li Si's eye twitched.

Martial God?

He had expected something grandiose—a Creator God, a Chaos God, or at least a God of Order. Even a White Tiger God would have made sense.

But Martial God?

Was this some kind of joke?

A Martial God sounded like someone practicing unbreakable body techniques—was Lin Fan going to become indestructible?

And what about the so-called War God of the Divine Realm? That guy was only a second-tier deity! Not even a first-tier god!

How much better could a Martial God possibly be?

"Ugh, why is it that even as the main character, you're always one step ahead of me?"

Li Si grumbled internally for a while but eventually pressed the middle button.

With the Death God as a fallback, why not take a gamble?
