Chapter 51: Dark Demon Eyes the Masquerade Ball
The popularity of the transformation series of magic cards at St. Marian Academy is exceptionally high.
Students always hope to shed their old uniforms and change into their favorite outfits as soon as they enter Traveler's Street.
There are no changing rooms at the entrances and exits of Traveler's Street.
Without transformation cards, one would need to borrow a spot in a clothing store and bring a complete set of clothes, which is neither convenient nor stylish.
However, the clothing stores on Traveler's Street only offer the latest trendy outfits and do not provide transformation cards.
Therefore, if students want to obtain transformation cards, aside from making them themselves, they can only buy them from stalls set up by upperclassmen.
But because making transformation cards is actually very complicated and doesn't earn many credits, there aren't many people selling them.
Dark curiously stopped to look and found that the transformation cards sold at this stall were all uniformly themed around "Halloween."
Speaking of Halloween, it naturally brings to mind pumpkins, candies, ghosts, and masquerade balls!
On Halloween Eve at St. Marian, there is an unprecedented masquerade ball that turns the entire castle into a stage!
If you can catch the hidden "ghosts" during the masquerade ball, you can even exchange them for credit rewards!
The one who catches the most "ghosts" will even receive a special title.
As Halloween approaches, some experienced upperclassmen are already gearing up, and Dark occasionally hears them mention it in the common room.
For first-year students, Halloween is a rare opportunity to earn a lot of credits!
In short, on that day, no one will be wearing their uniforms!
Dark certainly doesn't want to be the only exception.
Since he happened to come across it, he thought of picking a transformation card to use, as it's not expensive anyway.
After glancing at the price tags of "33 credits," "66 credits," and "88 credits,"
Dark didn't pay much attention.
He squatted down and carefully looked through them for a while.
Since it's a Halloween theme, most of the transformation cards here have high body coverage, though there are also some with extreme exposure like the succubus series, but those are few.
The more common ones are the "Vampire Series," "Knight Series," "Monster Series," and "Palace Series." There are others, but they lack uniformity.
"First year, Noble House?"
The upperclassman running the stall casually asked.
Dark nodded politely, "Hello, senior."
The upperclassman smiled, quite pleased, "I'm from Fool's House, but I'm still your senior. My name is Leon. If your classmates need transformation cards, they can come to Fool's House common room to find me."
Dark asked curiously, "Does Fool's House common room have no curfew?"
Leon explained, "Of course it does, but our door lady is very hospitable. As long as you bring a gift, oh, I mean, a small bottle of lubricant, she will open the door for you."
Dark was surprised, "Lu-lubricant?"
"Ahem!" Leon looked away awkwardly, "Anyway, that's how it is. Since you're a freshman from Noble House, I recommend this vampire set! It's the most popular series among Noble House students in the past. I even injected sweet blood plasma into the fangs; just input magic, and it will bleed!"
"That's really something."
Dark lowered his gaze and first flipped through the vampire sets, finding them all in traditional red and black colors. They looked good, but something seemed missing.
He casually asked, "Do you have a Dark Lord set?"
Leon stiffened, "We do have a hero set. By the way, I heard there's a student this year who claims to be the son of a hero, in your house?"
Dark: "Knight House."
"Knight, huh?" Leon sighed, "I really hope he can wear my Kamen Rider set."
Dark was startled, "Kamen Rider set?"
"Yes," Leon said proudly, "He was a very famous hero when demons still existed. Using a special belt, just insert the transformation card into the belt, and you can transform into Kamen Rider, very similar to the current Sacred Gear series of magic cards. Do you know the Valkyrie Alvit? She's one of the holders of the Twelve Golden Sacred Gears."
Dark certainly knew about the Valkyrie and had seen her complain about the Sacred Gear being too tight.
The so-called "Sacred Gear" is very similar to "Sacred Cloth." The Twelve Golden Sacred Gears are designed based on the twelve zodiac signs and can increase the user's strength and speed by hundreds of times!
→ Only when wearing the Sacred Gear does the Valkyrie become the true Valkyrie!
Dark couldn't help but become interested in the Kamen Rider set.
But the more he looked, the more something felt off.
This Kamen Rider set made by Leon looked more like a Beelzebub set?
Forget it, better go with something more ordinary!
These full-body sets really hinder mobility. If planning to make a big splash on Halloween, it's better to choose something lighter.
For example, this "Tuxedo Mask set" looks pretty good.
Tuxedo Mask
Black tuxedo, white glasses, deep red cape, white gloves, and a blood-red rose!
And it's only 33 credits.
"I'll take this one."
Dark didn't dwell on it too much; if it doesn't work out, he can always change it later.
Senior Leon wasn't upset that he chose the cheapest transformation card and even patiently explained how to inscribe the final formation on the transformation card.
Dark felt he learned a lot.
These 33 credits were well spent!
But before leaving, Senior Leon suddenly called out to him, "By the way, here's a love fortune-telling card for you. Enjoy your youth!"
...
Dark, holding the love fortune-telling card given by Senior Leon, felt a bit unsettled.
"Senior Leon seems quite honest and is from Fool's House; he doesn't seem like the type to lie. So, are these love fortune-telling cards really distributed by Professor Cazale?"
"Professor Cazale does have superb magic technology, but... does he have this kind of taste?"
Dark carefully examined the still exquisite flower card in his hand, unable to imagine the goblin-blooded Professor Cazale making something like this.
And according to Senior Leon, Professor Cazale only distributed the flower cards to them, instructing them to give them to people they found suitable.
The number of flower cards wasn't actually many, and this was Senior Leon's last one.
Dark couldn't figure out what common factor he and Diana shared. He wandered around the Quirky Candy Shop, bought some toffee, and indeed received another flower card!
Then he went to the flower shop, jewelry store, clothing store...
Some shops gave him a flower card, while others had already run out.
After a full round, including the one from Senior Leon, he had collected eight flower cards.
Adding the one he already had, that made nine!
"Nine flower cards, quite a harvest."
Dark left Traveler's Street before the sun set.
As he walked out of the lakeside pavilion, he happened to pass by Virt and Robert.
These two kids seemed to have overcome their previous rift and were playing together again.
"By the way, have they finished their homework?"
Dark wondered.
