When someone gets too cocky, trouble is bound to happen!
Yi Luowa thought this statement was absolutely true!
Wasn't she just showing off because she won the Xiawu Highway Racing Championship earlier?
Wasn't she bragging to her Uncle earlier about how rich she was now, and that she could support herself?
Hadn't she been standing right on the edge of the cliff earlier, video chatting with her Uncle, still showing off?
When that claw wearing a mountaineering glove grabbed her foot viciously and she got scared into falling off the cliff, she immediately understood—all of this was the price she paid for her cocky behavior!
"Ah—Uncle! I was wrong! I won't complain about my dad anymore! I won't make you angry again! I'll even agree if you want me to get married! Save—me—ah—!" Yi Luowa flailed wildly as she fell backward off the cliff, throwing away her phone and helmet in the panic.
Grab! Grab! Grab!
"Shut up!"
A deep, harsh voice barked at her, followed by a strong tug. Yi Luowa instantly went silent. Just as she thought she was doomed, a large hand appeared at her waist.
"Grab onto my belt." The voice sounded as if it was coming from the distant mountains.
Who saved her?!
Yi Luowa snapped her eyes open wide.
"The belt!"
Before she could clearly see the person bathed in sunlight, a stern shout brought her back to her senses, and Yi Luowa quickly grabbed onto his belt at lightning speed.
The man in the sunlight gripped the edge of the cliff firmly with one hand. With his other hand, he pulled out a rope with an iron hook from his chest and swung it upward with force. Feeling it catch onto something, he tested it with a pull and smiled.
"Crack!"
Yi Luowa's eyes widened as she stared at the belt she was clutching in her hands. Good heavens! The belt was about to snap!
No wonder the master proclaimed her a jinx. This time, she couldn't curse others, but she'd certainly doomed herself! She had narrowly escaped disaster just moments ago, but she was sure she wouldn't survive this one!
Determined not to meet her maker, Yi Luowa acted in 0.1 seconds, wildly grabbing at anything she could until she finally hugged the man's waist.
Tong Airui sucked in a sharp breath as he swung the rope several times with force. In his hand, the rope seemed alive, skillfully curling around Yi Luowa's waist.
Yi Luowa steadied herself, grabbing onto the rope. She pressed her feet against the cliff face and climbed upwards with effort, saying, "Once I'm up, I'll come save you."
Tong Airui shot her a disdainful glance before turning to press his thumb and forefinger into his mouth. "Whew…" A sharp whistle pierced the air, making Yi Luowa's eardrums ring.
"Old Fourth! Old Fourth!" The shout echoed from the cliff above, growing nearer.
"Rescue!" Tong Airui shouted loudly from the bottom of the cliff.
Just as Yi Luowa's head poked over the top of the cliff, a large hand grabbed her and hoisted her up. The person glanced at her briefly and casually tossed her aside before grabbing the rope, kneeling at the cliff edge and peering downward. "Old Fourth, don't worry, I'll pull you up."
Tong Airui raised his head to look at him. "Clear the area!"
"Clear the area!" Yuan Hang relayed the order with a chuckle, "Master, if the folks at home saw you like this, their teeth would probably fall out from laughing too hard!"
"Shut up!" Tong Airui growled, clearly irritated.
Yi Luowa glanced at him and couldn't help but stifle a giggle. She quickly untied the rope wrapped around her body, ready to sneak off without a sound.
"Yuan Hang, don't let that girl escape!" Tong Airui gritted his teeth—he needed to warn her. If she let today's incident slip, he'd lose his dignity completely.
"Stop!" Yuan Hang turned his head, seeing Yi Luowa ready to bolt, and barked sternly.
Yi Luowa's lips twitched slightly, but she kept walking, not showing the slightest intention of stopping.
"Everyone, stop that girl!" Yuan Hang roared.
The seemingly empty surroundings suddenly came alive with more than a dozen people appearing all at once. Yi Luowa stared at them, realizing she was doomed—if the cliff didn't kill her, these people definitely would.
Yi Luowa shifted her dark eyes strategically and braced herself for battle. In this situation, she could only rely on herself for survival.
Yuan Hang glanced at her, then reached out to grab Tong Airui's hands braced against the cliff. "Give me your hand, I'll pull you up."
When Tong Airui extended his hand, Yuan Hang used both hands to pull the man up from the cliff with a powerful yank. He turned his body to block the view from outside and swiftly adjusted Tong Airui's clothes.
Tong Airui frowned and took a moment to regain his composure before calling to Yi Luowa, "Hey, you little brat, come over here!"
Knowing full well he was addressing her, Yi Luowa stubbornly refused to turn around.
"He's calling you! Come over here!" Yuan Hang shouted. "My Master saved you out of kindness, and what is this attitude of yours? Come here!"
Yi Luowa frowned unhappily, turning around angrily.
"Which eye of yours saw your Master saving me? Don't shout nonsense if you don't know the truth! You think only you can yell? Well, so can I! You rude guy!"
Tong Airui pointed a finger at her, "If I hadn't saved you, today next year would be your memorial day! I've never seen someone so ungrateful!"
"Why don't you stammer some more?! I was standing there perfectly fine making a call—who was the one who made me fall?"
Yi Luowa stuck her neck out stubbornly and stared down Tong Airui. Suddenly, she remembered she had been video-calling her Uncle before she fell. She smacked her forehead forcefully.
"I don't have time for nonsense with you! Someone's life is in danger!" Yi Luowa untied the scarf inside her racing suit and tied it around her face. She began securing it as she walked towards the mountain road. She clearly didn't want to deal with the two men who had warned her not to touch cars; she had to keep her face hidden from them so that they wouldn't discover she'd been racing and possibly break her legs!
Tong Airui sneered darkly at her retreating figure. With a cold laugh, he said, "At least she hasn't lost her wits completely, knowing to hide that ugly face of hers. If she doesn't cover herself, even the ghosts would die from another fright!"
Yi Luowa turned her head to glare at him with a smile filled with rage. "At least you're good-looking! Ghosts would run away scared if they saw your face!"
"You!" Tong Airui's chest heaved with fury.
Yi Luowa smirked and glanced at him sideways.
Yuan Hang tilted his head to look at Tong Airui, waiting for him to give the order so he could throw her back down the cliff. This cheeky girl might look good, but her tongue was far too sharp.
Yi Luowa let out a defiant noise and strutted off with her long ponytail swinging behind her. Oddly, the people surrounding her even cleared a path for her.
Tong Airui frowned slightly, "Yuan Hang, bring her back!"
Though his voice was not particularly loud, it rattled Yi Luowa, making her heart race as she bolted.
One step, two steps, three steps—Yi Luowa only managed to take three steps before someone grabbed her collar.
"Run, then!" Yuan Hang looked at her teasingly.
"Let me go! I need to save someone!" Yi Luowa struggled fiercely. She had to call her Uncle immediately; otherwise, he might believe she'd fallen off the cliff and died. She was terrified that this would break his heart.
"Fourth Master, how should we deal with this brat?" Yuan Hang asked, holding Yi Luowa firmly while turning to look at Tong Airui's stern face.
