Chapter 72 - CHAPTER 71

071: The Results of Training! Arrival in Yongji City

This had been Qin Yun's longest continuous training session so far, lasting over 20 days.

Time had shifted from late October into early November, and today was already November 1st.

"Fomantis, use Verdant World!"

"Fomaa!"

Fomantis let out a determined cry. The ground trembled slightly as a vibrant aura of life surged through the surroundings. In mere moments, thick roots burst from the soil, rapidly sprouting into young saplings. Under the influence of its ability, a miniature forest quickly took shape.

"Nice work!"

Qin Yun smiled at Fomantis, who was breathing heavily from the effort. Beads of sweat glistened on its leaves as it panted in exhaustion. Qin Yun reached into his bag and pulled out an Energy Cube (Active-type), offering it to the exhausted Pokémon as a reward.

"Fomaa~"

The little Pokémon chirped happily, its eyes sparkling with pride. As it chewed on the cube, the glow in its pupils faded, and the soft pink hue of its Fairy Mode dissipated. Its aura stabilized, marking the end of its technique.

"Keep up the good work!"

Today was an important milestone the assessment of their training progress. After spending weeks in the wilderness, refining techniques, it was finally time to head to the next Gym.

Fomantis nodded firmly. Throughout the training period, it had worked tirelessly to perfect its Grass-type mastery, gradually incorporating advanced techniques from Wood-Style jutsu. It had now learned to execute several variations of Verdant World, and while the current version only produced a small grove, this was already a major step forward.

Once Fomantis grew stronger, the scale and impact of the technique would naturally expand.

"Next up Heracross!"

Qin Yun's gaze shifted toward the Bug/Fighting-type Pokémon.

For the past three weeks, Heracross had been focusing on physical conditioning and combat proficiency, preparing to fully harness the Mega Saiyan Form.

"Hera!"

Heracross clenched its fists, its antennae twitching in focus. Suddenly, a powerful aura flared around its body a deep saffron-colored energy, flickering like flames. Its eyes sharpened, and a burst of Ki pressure radiated outward.

"Good. You're stabilizing it."

Qin Yun nodded in satisfaction. The Mega Saiyan transformation was still in its early stages, but Heracross was already capable of maintaining rational thought while transformed.

That was a major achievement.

A berserk power that lacked control was useless true strength came from balance, not just raw destruction.

"Combusken has also improved in controlling its Devil Fruit ability, and Kirlia's psychic potential has skyrocketed since consuming the Spiritual Fruits."

If they faced Hongshen's team again, Qin Yun was confident they could now crush them with ease.

Overall, the progress from this training arc had been excellent, and Team One had undergone a complete transformation.

Onward to Yongji City!

Qin Yun glanced at his Pokémon, noting the exhaustion on their faces.

Of course, he was just as tired.

As the team's trainer and strategist, Qin Yun had to plan, adjust, and execute every detail of their regiment. Beyond training alongside them, he also took care of logistics, meal plans, and recovery schedules.

Luckily, Kirlia was incredibly attentive, helping share the workload whenever possible. Without her assistance, things would have been far more difficult.

"Good news, everyone!"

"Fo... maa?"

"Hera?"

Qin Yun grinned.

"Training is officially over!"

"DO-DUO?!"

Before his Pokémon could even react, he added the real bombshell

"We're heading to Yongji City, and I'm treating everyone to a movie and a feast!"

Silence.

Then

"DO-DUOOOO!"

Excited cheers erupted!

The exhaustion vanished instantly, replaced by pure hype and enthusiasm.

Qin Yun chuckled at their reaction. It was important to balance training with enjoyment long-term progress required both hard work and moments of rest.

During their downtime, he had discovered that each Pokémon had different interests:

Kirlia and Fomantis loved watching romance movies.

Combusken enjoyed action-packed battle films.

Heracross liked anything with intense combat and power-ups.

They had argued fiercely over movie choices before.

"There's one condition," Qin Yun said, smirking.

"You must keep your training suits on but I'll let you reduce the weights a bit."

The Pokémon didn't mind at all. After three weeks, the suits had become second nature to them. Even Kirlia who had started with the lightest resistance was now carrying 50 lbs on its arms and 70 lbs on its legs.

With that settled

"Alright! Let's move out!"

Arrival in Yongji City

Their training location had been gradually moving closer to the city over the past few days. Now, they were right at the outskirts.

As they walked, Qin Yun distributed one last round of Active Energy Cubes, letting his Pokémon refuel on the way.

"Man… if it weren't for these Energy Cubes, I'd be broke."

Their intensive training had burned through 150+ Active Energy Cubes equivalent to over 30 million Pokémon Coins in supplies!

Training Pokémon is seriously expensive…

Finally, after about two hours of walking, the skyline of Yongji City emerged in the distance.

Yongji City, located on the eastern edge of Petalburg Province, was an important trade hub.

To the north lay Route 104 and the Petalburg Woods—a vast, dense forest rich with Pokémon.

Beyond that was Rustboro Province, home to the first major Pokémon Gym of this league circuit.

Qin Yun stretched.

"Finally here."

Check-in at the Pokémon Center

"Alright, time to recall everyone for now."

Most cities only allowed one Pokémon to be out in public, with strict size regulations for large species.

His team begrudgingly returned to their Poké Balls, though Kirlia pouted before tapping her ball and vanishing inside.

Now in the heart of Yongji City, Qin Yun made a beeline for the Pokémon Center.

As he stepped inside, he was immediately greeted by the familiar, friendly receptionist.

"Welcome! How can I assist you today?"

"A deluxe suite, please," Qin Yun responded without hesitation.

"Certainly! That will be 580 Pokémon Coins per night."

Without missing a beat, Qin Yun swiped his card.

"Thank you! Your room is on the 7th floor, Room 708. Enjoy your stay!"

He nodded and took the elevator upstairs.

The room was cozy and well-furnished perfect for unwinding after weeks of rough outdoor training.

Qin Yun wasted no time.

He released his Pokémon back into the room, took out fresh clothes, and muttered

"Alright, plan for today hot shower, solid nap, then we hit the city for food and a movie."

After all

Training without rest leads to burnout.

And tomorrow?

The Gym Challenge begins.
