Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Don’t Look Down on Young People Because They Are Poor!

An extremely bold idea flashed through Mu Zhian's mind. Although he considered it unlikely, a vague feeling tugged at his heart. If the black-robed man was truthful, why had Bai Yuanfeng appeared in the Gongsun family? There were only two possibilities: either Bai Yuanfeng had come to plead for mercy for the Bai family, which seemed highly improbable, or there was another explanation. Bai Ruoxi's biological father had been attacked on his way back to the city just days prior. Logically, it would have been impossible to seriously injure a strong man in the Core Formation Realm without prior ambush. This led to the question: Who had leaked the location of Bai's father during his return? Furthermore, although Tongmai Pills were expensive, if this could protect the Bai family, why had Bai Yuanfeng refused to agree and insisted on selling his daughter?

Mu Zhian pondered this, questioning the intelligence of the beautiful woman involved. The black-robed man, observing Mu Zhian deep in thought, sneered, "Master Mu, you are a smart man; you should know what to do, right?" Startled, Mu Zhian returned to reality and nodded, "Hehehe, thank you for your information this time." The black-robed man was taken aback by Mu Zhian's reaction. "It's okay, don't worry. I just suddenly wanted to try it this way," Mu Zhian laughed, realizing that he had misjudged the villains' reactions. The black-robed man, puzzled, cast a cold glance at Mu Zhian before turning to leave. However, he abruptly stopped, staring at the paper crane on the table with a hint of surprise in his eyes. Soon, he composed himself, transformed into black mist, and vanished from the study.

After a brief moment, Wei Mengrou emerged from the shadows, no longer concealing her presence. She glanced out the window and whispered, "The man just now reacted to the paper crane, so he might know its origin." Mu Zhian was momentarily stunned. This indicated that the black-robed man's identity was likely connected to the family of the paper crane's owner. Two days prior, he had sent someone to investigate the black-robed man, but as a mysterious force from outside, discovering the man's true identity was challenging. However, with this new clue, they might have a lead. Mu Zhian decided, "In that case, send someone to follow the paper crane tomorrow to see where it came from." He had been chatting with the paper crane's owner daily, akin to conversing with someone online, and he viewed this as a psychological preparation to see what the netizen looked like in reality.

After finalizing his plans, Mu Zhian looked at Wei Mengrou and said, "Sister Mengrou, I won't practice today. I plan to go out." Wei Mengrou replied nonchalantly, "You don't have to tell me specifically. After all, I wouldn't be surprised if you suddenly gave up practicing one day." Despite her words, Mu Zhian noted that there was no hint of disgust or disappointment in her eyes. It was clear that she appreciated his dedication over the past few days. Mu Zhian felt satisfied with his progress; his commitment to practice aimed to strengthen himself and improve Wei Mengru's favorability. Though his methods might seem crude, the results were undeniable. Just as many found cheesy online phrases awkward, girls in love often enjoyed hearing such sweet words.

With his carriage prepared, Mu Zhian settled inside and slowly drove along the street towards the Bai family. Soon, he opened the curtain and spotted a mansion ahead: Bai Mansion!

Upon disembarking, Mu Zhian noticed two servants at the entrance. They exchanged surprised glances upon seeing him. "Master Mu, what brings you to Bai Mansion?" one inquired. In Tianxuan City, nearly everyone, except for children, recognized Mu Zhian, and the servants were no exception. "I need to see Ruoxi. Is she inside?" Mu Zhian asked. One servant nodded hesitantly, appearing embarrassed as he replied, "Yes, but the eldest lady may not have time to entertain you right now..."

Before Mu Zhian could inquire further, he faintly heard a man and woman arguing from within the mansion. Then, he caught Ye Yu's voice: "Miss Bai, since you insist on breaking off the engagement, I have nothing to say. However, although I am poor, I am also a man of integrity. Today, I will divorce you, my fiancée!" Taken aback, Mu Zhian realized he had stumbled upon a scene of a broken engagement. Intrigued, he considered entering the mansion to observe, but the guards immediately blocked his path, stating, "Sorry, Master Mu, the lady has ordered that no one is allowed to enter."

Mu Zhian pulled out two silver coins and pressed them into the guards' hands, smiling, "Please do me a favor. If I am kicked out after entering, I won't hold it against you, how about that?" The guards hesitated, clearly uncomfortable. "Master Mu, please don't put us in a difficult position. If something happens later, we can't bear the responsibility—"

Mu Zhian produced four more silver coins, placing them in their hands. "Master Mu, if you need anything in the future, just let us know, and we'll help!" he said with a smile. Nodding in acknowledgment, Mu Zhian pushed open the mansion door and stepped inside.

In the yard, he found Ye Yu and Bai Ruoxi facing each other. Ye Yu appeared angry, fists clenched in restraint, while Bai Ruoxi, her slim waist accentuated by a flowing white gown, regarded him with an expressionless demeanor. She silently handed Ye Yu a "divorce letter."

"Master Ye, Ruoxi has no intention of making enemies with you, but she truly dislikes this marriage," she said softly. Ye Yu, though furious, forced himself to remain calm. "Miss Bai, thirty years in the east, thirty years in the west; don't underestimate the poor young man! Today's humiliation will be returned one day!" He believed Bai Ruoxi was regretting the marriage due to her interest in Mu Zhian, and he was determined to make her regret her decision.

Bai Ruoxi frowned but remained silent. Just then, loud applause erupted from the mansion's entrance. "Don't look down on the poor young man; Master Ye is quite confident in his talents," Mu Zhian said, stepping forward, clapping with genuine admiration. Ye Yu narrowed his eyes, recognizing Mu Zhian as he approached.
