Chapter 52 - Ch 52: Promise

When Tatsumi came down, Minato and the others hadn't reacted yet.

Looking at Nawaki's open mouth, Tatsumi smiled.

"What's wrong? Is it strange? This is just the power of a C-rank ninjutsu at most," Tatsumi said.

"But how did you learn this trick? Too cunning," Nawaki shouted.

"This trick is the result of my recent training with your sister," Tatsumi replied.

"Impossible, my sister is not good at shuriken throwing," Nawaki said in disbelief.

"Indeed, how is your shuriken so destructive? This power is too exaggerated no matter how you look at it," Minato asked suspiciously.

Minato didn't believe a word of what Tatsumi said. After all, as a good friend for a long time, he knew Tatsumi very well.

Mikoto didn't say anything, but she was also very curious looking at Tatsumi.

As for Kushina, she had an envious expression. It seemed she was very envious of such throwing skills.

"This is indeed the result of training with Tsunade-sensei. I have been learning chakra control from Tsunade-sensei recently," Tatsumi explained.

"...Chakra control? I remember you said that Super Strength is a kind of chakra control. So is the principle of your trick similar to Super Strength?" Minato inquired.

Minato thought for a while, and then answered Tatsumi's question. "That's right. As you know, Tsunade-sensei's best skills are medical ninjutsu and Super Strength. And both of these are based on chakra control."

"Super Strength is a kind of control of chakra precision. So I developed such a throwing technique based on the inspiration of Super Strength. I named it Super Strength Throwing. This is a C-rank ninjutsu," Tatsumi declared.

Tatsumi stretched out his hand, and a ball of chakra appeared in it.

"Like this." Tatsumi took a kunai from his ninja bag.

He inserted the kunai into the center of the chakra ball. Then, the chakra ball slowly rotated.

Tatsumi could now easily control the chakra ball to rotate continuously.

"This kind of chakra control..." he murmured.

Minato's face grew a little red when he saw it. After all, he still had a big gap in this regard compared to Tatsumi.

Tatsumi explained while demonstrating, "Then, while stabilizing the chakra in your hand, keep increasing its rotation speed."

While speaking, Tatsumi increased the rotation speed of the chakra ball in his hand.

So, under the gaze of Minato and Mikoto, the small chakra ball in Tatsumi's hand rotated faster and faster, even gradually showing signs of instability.

"Then at this time, at the moment when you are about to lose control of the chakra, choose to throw your kunai straight forward," he instructed.

"At the moment the kunai leaves your hand, detonate the chakra ball in your hand, so that in addition to the force you throw, the kunai will accelerate instantly due to the explosion of chakra."

And the kunai in Tatsumi's hand, driven by the detonated chakra ball, kept rotating and flew quickly into the sky until it reached a place invisible to the naked eye.

"It's so difficult," Nawaki said with a look of despair. "I'm not good at chakra control."

Tatsumi ignored Nawaki's remark and continued, "Although this trick is very powerful." He scratched his head and added, "It also has several very big shortcomings."

"First of all, there is the problem of chakra control. It takes a lot of skill to maintain the rotation of chakra."

"Secondly, there is the timing of detonating chakra and throwing the kunai. Otherwise, the chakra will explode in your own hand."

"But I already have several development directions for this trick," Tatsumi smiled.

"For example, using several kunai at the same time, combining the Uchiha kunai throwing skills. Then the power of this ninjutsu will increase linearly. At least it can reach the power of a B-level or even an A-level ninjutsu," Tatsumi said confidently.

Tatsumi kept talking about his ideas for the development of this technique.

Minato and Mikoto might not completely replicate these experiences, but there was undoubtedly a lot of reference value.

Looking at Minato's thoughtful look, Tatsumi said, "Minato, how far can you do the chakra control I told you about now?"

After all, in the original work, Jiraiya said that the Rasengan ninjutsu was independently researched and completed by the Fourth Hokage, Namikaze Minato—drawing inspiration from the Tailed Beast Ball—and it took three years.

In other words, the current Minato shouldn't even have this little idea yet.

But chakra control is the basis for Minato to develop Rasengan. Minato would have to learn these things in the future as well. Therefore, Tatsumi wanted to let his friend get in touch with this knowledge in advance.

"Chakra control...?" Minato pondered.

Minato stretched out his hand, and only a few strands of rotating chakra appeared on his palm, but they did not form a ball.

"I'm not particularly good at these things. Chakra control is still too difficult for me now, right? And how much chakra do you need to consume for this ninjutsu?" Minato asked.

"Not particularly much. But if you need more power, you will consume a little more chakra," Tatsumi replied.

...

Time passed little by little. Soon the test was over. As for Nawaki, because he was injured, he could only find time to test again next time.

When school was over, they separated at an intersection.

Nawaki and Kushina went to the Senju clan's territory together.

After school, Kushina had to go to Mito Uzumaki to continue learning about sealing knowledge.

Minato went to his home.

And Mikoto and Tatsumi went to their clan's territory.

The two walked slowly on the road, silently side by side.

In May, the sun had passed through the bumpy clouds and was setting in the west, rendering Konoha's unique dusk.

The roadsides were full of big trees. The sky, filled with green shade, floated in the wind. It seemed soaked in red watercolor—a beautiful and ethereal scene.

Konoha's hustle and bustle could not reach here at all. Besides the two of them, there was no one else.

"Look, the sky is like the sea," Mikoto said suddenly.

The backs of the two were completely embraced by the dusk, as if time were frozen in that moment.

The girl suddenly ran forward first.

Then Mikoto ran forward two steps and turned around.

Her black hair shone dazzlingly in the setting sun.

"Tatsumi," she called.

"Yeah, what's wrong?" he replied.

"Do you think we will always be together like this now?" Mikoto asked.

"Huh? Of course," Tatsumi answered without hesitation.

Mikoto repeated his words once.

"Then it's a deal." With that, Mikoto continued to run forward.

"Wait for me, Mikoto," Tatsumi called after her.

Tatsumi hurriedly chased after her from behind.

The two shadows stretched longer and longer in the setting sun.
