Chapter 135 - Ch 135: Sleep at my place

Although that black dog looks unreliable, it's really good at logistics. It successfully avoided all kinds of dangers along the way, and the service quality was also excellent.

However, it's just a bit talkative, constantly instilling its corporate culture into them.

In short, it had only one sentence: "Boss, get a card!" This was just like a certain hair salon industry in my previous life.

Fortunately, it didn't take long for Uchiha Tatsumi and the others to return to the Konoha camp.

Uchiha Tatsumi and the others were very emotional upon their return—after all, these past days had been too tortuous.

Although Uchiha Tatsumi just wanted to rest, he still reported the specific information to Orochimaru in detail.

Now was a critical period in the Rain Country War, and Konoha's forces were beginning to be stretched thin.

But no matter how strained they were, they had to send elite Jonin to support Sakumo. After all, that was a Jinchuriki, and once it entered the battlefield, it would deal a huge blow to Konoha.

Moreover, if they didn't go to support him, Konoha would have to collect Sakumo's corpse. Obviously, Konoha could not afford to lose such a high-end combat power.

Uchiha Tatsumi completed this B-rank mission, and along with the previous two A-rank missions, he was smoothly promoted to Chunin by Orochimaru.

After all, his strength was already sufficient, and his accumulated merits were enough for the promotion. So, all of this was expected.

However, Mikoto and Nawaki were still Genin. The reason was simple: if there were three Chunin in a team, the team would be disbanded. In the current situation, it was unwise to break up a team that had been working together for a long time and then assign them to a new one.

Orochimaru didn't have time to continue leading the team, so directly promoting Uchiha Tatsumi to Chunin and letting him lead the team was the best choice.

At this time, Uchiha Tatsumi was standing in the tent, letting Tsunade inspect him.

"Not bad, kid. You look very energetic in the Chunin vest." Tsunade patted Uchiha Tatsumi's shoulder with a grin.

Orochimaru didn't speak, but his expression clearly said, "This is what my disciple should look like."

"There's nothing for the time being. I still have something to discuss with Tsunade. You go back first. Also, don't go out on missions recently, just stay in the camp."

Orochimaru was really a little wary this time. Something happened every time Tatsumi went out on a mission—even if he didn't believe in bad luck, he had to now.

He had encountered a Jinchuriki on an ordinary reconnaissance mission. This level of misfortune left him speechless. He felt it was better for Uchiha Tatsumi and the others to stay in the camp obediently.

Orochimaru didn't believe that something could happen while they were in the camp—unless Hanzo personally attacked it.

But that was obviously unlikely.

Uchiha Tatsumi nodded and walked out of the tent. Orochimaru and Tsunade were likely discussing the Four-Tailed Jinchuriki and the next movements of the Iwa and Suna ninjas.

Whether it was the situation on the main battlefield or the attitudes of other villages, all of these factors needed to be considered. Such matters were highly confidential and obviously not meant for Uchiha Tatsumi to know.

Walking back in his Chunin vest, many people noticed him along the way. After all, it was quite young to be promoted to Chunin at his age.

On his way back to his tent, Uchiha Tatsumi ran into his friend Minato, whom he hadn't seen in a long time. Minato was waiting outside his tent like an anxious wife.

Seeing Uchiha Tatsumi, Minato enthusiastically grabbed his hand.

"Long time no see, Minato." Uchiha Tatsumi withdrew his hand without a trace.

The little sun's condition was obviously not great—there were still wounds from battle on his body, and his mouth was bandaged.

"Minato, what's wrong? Why haven't you gone to a medical ninja to heal your wounds?" Uchiha Tatsumi asked.

"If I could, of course, I would want to." Minato smiled bitterly. "Most of the medical ninjas' resources in the camp are focused on saving the seriously injured. It's very difficult for them to spare time for us Genin with minor injuries, so we can only slowly recover."

Medical ninjas were already in such short supply? Uchiha Tatsumi pondered. Fighting against three countries at once was indeed difficult. Judging from this situation, the Rain Country War should be coming to an end. Otherwise, no one could sustain it much longer.

"But speaking of which, Tatsumi, you're already a Chunin now. The Genin of our class have been talking about it, saying that your team was sent out on high-level missions?" Minato asked, looking at Uchiha Tatsumi's light green vest.

"Yeah, yeah." Uchiha Tatsumi spread his hands. "A freshly baked Chunin, officially entering the category of high-level cannon fodder. The letter of appointment has just been issued."

"Then congratulations! You're the fastest among our classmates to become a Chunin." Minato smiled.

"Isn't that how the battlefield works? As long as you have enough contributions or accumulate enough merits, it's only a matter of time before you're promoted to Chunin or Jonin," Uchiha Tatsumi said.

The war period was indeed different from peacetime, as it rapidly produced a large number of Chunin and Jonin.

Uchiha Tatsumi and Minato chatted while walking to an open area. After all, they hadn't seen each other in a long time.

"What have you been doing recently, Minato?"

"Guarding. I'm responsible for the security of the surrounding areas of the camp. Most Genin are performing this task."

Minato had also been busy all day and had just returned when he heard that Uchiha Tatsumi and his team had come back, so he went to find him.

"What about you?" Minato asked.

"Our team went to an intelligence stronghold nearby. Then we fought with those turtle-grandchildren from Iwa," Uchiha Tatsumi said, picking out a few things that could be shared.

"That sounds amazing. I really want to go to the battlefield and see for myself." Minato sighed.

"What's so great about that kind of place? You might accidentally see your comrades die. We nearly died this time, and the others in the intelligence stronghold weren't so lucky." Uchiha Tatsumi shook his head.

"Jiraiya won't let you go—it's his way of protecting you."

"By the way, where is your teacher, Jiraiya?" Uchiha Tatsumi suddenly realized he hadn't seen Jiraiya in the camp.

"Could it be that he's off gathering 'material' again?"

"No... No way. There aren't any bathhouses nearby... Where would he go to find 'material' anyway?" Minato hesitated, though he was clearly doubtful.

After all, his teacher's last novel flopped, and even the publisher went bankrupt. He kept saying he needed to find inspiration.

"There are still plenty of small towns in the Rain Country. Even though it's chaotic here, I hear the... uh, 'industry' in that area is very developed." Uchiha Tatsumi shared some inside information he had gotten from Nawaki.

Hearing this, Minato wavered. Could it be that Jiraiya, who hadn't shown up for a long time, had really gone looking for 'material'? That was way too irresponsible!

"Forget it, let's not talk about this. I have a few questions about Wind Release. Tatsumi, do you have time?"

"Sure." Uchiha Tatsumi nodded.

"Great! Sleep at my place tonight. We can slowly discuss this knowledge."
