Cherreads

Chapter 11 - Spiritual Energy

Chirp!-

For a moment, I heard birds chirping in the early morning.

Without hesitation, I got out of bed.

To be honest, I never really intended to fall asleep last night.

But I knew—there was nothing else I could do.

Maybe that's why I decided to close my eyes and imagine something interesting.

That way, it was possible I could fall asleep quickly.

And sure enough, it happened just like I imagined.

Since that day, I've considered sleep one of my daily obligations.

Without wasting time, I began putting on my school uniform.

A white shirt...

Followed by a black jacket, and long black pants.

Even the school emblem on my chest displayed a few letters.

"Alright... Second day. This is my second day at school. I need to stay motivated."

In just a few seconds, I walked out of my room.

Judging by the time, I knew it wasn't even 7 o'clock yet.

In fact, I had already woken up at six in the morning.

Actually, waking up at six was completely normal for me.

After all, the fact that I'm committed to stretching my body can't be denied.

Every morning, I never skip moving my body around a few times.

If I recall correctly, I started exercising when I was twelve.

Though it was my mom and dad who first ordered me to follow a morning routine.

And now, I was ready to eat breakfast.

My mom and dad were also awake—they usually got up at five.

It made sense. My parents were required to wake up before sunrise.

Besides, the fact that my parents are scientists in China is undeniable.

If they weren't prepared, how could they return to their work?

Maybe it's true—they might leave the house while I'm still asleep.

But so what? The truth is, they care deeply about me.

If I weren't their child, would they even come back home at all?

The moment I was born, they knew they couldn't just leave me behind.

"Good morning. Are you awake? And don't forget to lock the door when you leave."

"I know..." I replied, not even slightly tempted to delay breakfast.

The moment I sat down at the dining table,

I immediately dug into the rice in front of me, not caring about anything else.

I knew my parents had to return to work today.

That's why they reminded me to lock the door.

From the start, I was the only one holding the key to my parents' house.

"Seriously... How could the scout team not find the intruder? Isn't that a problem?"

"I don't think so. We can't afford to waste more time. Our goal is to restore the lab's security."

"Restore it... This is a major issue. I hope nothing happens to us."

For a moment, I overheard my parents talking.

Listening closely, I realized they were discussing an intruder issue.

If I remembered correctly, they planned to repair damage at the lab.

If they didn't go, who knew if the lab might have to be shut down?

Whatever...

Time passed, and now I saw my parents leave for work.

At this point, I was the only one left at home.

Of course, there was no way I wouldn't get ready for school.

Without wasting time, I grabbed my school supplies.

Creak!-

Finally, I stepped out onto the front yard.

Of course, there's no way I'd forget to lock the door.

step- step- step-

I had to admit, I could see several students walking around the city's outskirts.

Judging from their uniforms, I assumed some of them went to the same school as me.

Though some of them clearly came from other schools.

But what of it? None of them seemed interested in bothering us.

On the contrary, I knew they wouldn't dare mess with students from Jinshi High.

Just look at their expressions—students from other schools wore looks of irritation.

Deep down, they knew they'd eventually have to face Jinshi High.

Every year, students from across China were assigned to compete against other schools.

The problem was, they didn't know if they could survive the competition.

If we lost, we wouldn't be allowed to compete again.

Thankfully, Jinshi High was one of the most prestigious schools in China.

That alone made it almost impossible for us to lose in the first round.

As an ordinary student, I wasn't even worth noticing.

Some students ignored me entirely, not sensing anything strange about me.

In their eyes, I was the weakest student at Jinshi High.

Since I joined, I'd been evaluated by the teachers.

And the results were shocking—my spiritual energy was close to zero.

If they found out I was lying, would they even be able to hide their shock?

By the way, in the world of modern cultivation, spiritual energy measures cultivation strength.

Those with spiritual energy ranging from 1–100 are considered Qi Condensation cultivators.

Between 100–500, they're known as Foundation Establishment cultivators.

And from 500–1,000, they can crush small mountains with a single punch.

These are the Core Formation cultivators.

And those with spiritual energy above 1,000?

They could manipulate the very forces of heaven and earth.

If they wanted, they could even control the body of an ordinary human.

But no—they knew such actions were meaningless.

From the beginning, the modern world established rules against harming ordinary people.

Yet some dared to break the rules. These were the so-called evil cultivators.

Perhaps it was because of this that people like Ye Yue emerged in a world full of technology.

As I was about to cross the traffic light, a black car drove by.

Sure enough, it was one of the most luxurious cars in the world.

A Rolls-Royce—reserved for members of the elite class.

I knew exactly who was inside that car.

Sun Xinxin.

'There she is... Just ignore her. I don't need to get involved with that woman,' I thought, not intending to approach her.

Without delay, I stepped through the gate of Jinshi High.

Luckily, I didn't see Zhang Hao standing there.

I assumed he was feeling down.

After all, the fact that Zhang Hao was dumped by his childhood friend was undeniable.

Poor guy...

Indeed. Zhang Hao was an unlucky man.

If he had been born into a wealthy family, would Chu Feng have dared to bully him?
