Emma sat on the comfy couch of their apartment, meditating— and by meditating I mean drifting in and out of sleep, when Faye walked up to her and tapped her shoulders.
The girl reduced her voice to a whisper and asked:
"What happened? Ark has been acting weird ever since that day."
Emma turned in Ark's direction. She did not need to see to know that he was probably sulking at the corner of the room while drinking a bottle of yoghurt.
Between that and possessing corpses, that had been his daily activity ever since they failed to catch the curse bearer involved.
Since his disappearance, there had not been a single case of ghost sighting, and it didn't even matter if there was one.
The citizens had been told it was due to a malfunction of one of their equipment and labelled it a holographic scare crow used to chase lesser beasts.
As bad as the excuse sounded, the citizens believed it wholeheartedly and fear levels had been slowly settling since then.
