Zavarelli is pissed at me. No, actually, he's mad. So mad at me.
"Where is your driver, Angelita?"
Oh wow. He was using my name. That was new.
"I dismissed him." I tried to sound firm, but it came out weak instead. "Thought we were going to stay long, so I told him to go back with the dresses."
"You dismissed him." Zavarelli repeated, his voice edged with disbelief.
It was all shades of wrong, and I knew it. But what's a little freedom? I'll be stuck with this man for life! And he didn't want me partying? Oh, he's definitely joking because I was a woman—a young woman, if that counts—and I had a life. I wasn't a stuck-up robot like him.
"I send you a driver, and you're telling me that you dismissed him? All unbothered?" Zavarelli hissed, his scowl deepening. "What if something had happened to you, huh? What would you have done since you had not an ounce of protection?!"
He yelled, and I almost flinched, his face nearing mine, pressing me back against the window.
