His features softened, and every tinge of annoyance he had felt earlier slipped away from him as he padded toward the bed. He crawled in and towered above her, leaning in until he could bury his face in her neck.
His fingers ran through her hair before his cool palm trailed against her face causing a turn from Eve.
"Malakai…?" Her voice, sweet and soft, dripped into his ears and he pulled back to look at her face.
"Doll."
Her eyes opened just long enough to see his lips parted and two canines peeking out.

"I had something to do," he said to her. "Your wolf's in distress. Were you worried for me?"
