Almost a month had gone by since the handover party for Devin. She had been very busy since then, and they had not seen each other once. Not that they would have any reason to see each other after that day, which was another hurtful parting.
He had half the mind to show up in her apartment and apologize with his words and actions. It would be stupid of him to, he had set the boundaries because he felt how much she liked him and how much he liked her. It would never work. Not to mention the fact that she had moved from her rundown apartment.
He definitely wasn't stalking her.
There was no way a god would be bothered with those kinds of things. But just to make sure he was okay; he'd check on her socials from time to time. Not strange at all.
His powers were stronger than when she wasn't around so it was fine. He was fine.
It was lunch time about then. He decided it was the perfect time to visit the ice cream parlor. He took a drive there to avoid wasting his powers.
He ordered his vanilla ice cream, pleased. He stood outside, watching the hustling and bustling of the people around him.
He smiled. He was going to miss this.
" Strawberry and mint please."
He turned at that exact moment because he knew that it was her. He surprised himself by the way he recognized her by just her voice.
He was taken aback with how radiant she looked. Her was in a ponytail but she had fringes. Her outfits screamed office couture. She was wearing a beige dress with a white shirt on the inside. Her entire look was almost as if she had a royal upgrade. Dynos felt like he would explode. He was falling for her more and more.
She spotted him and her eyes widen. There was a pause in her step before she approached the door.
"Hi." She said with a faint smile.
"Hi," He looked at her with concern. " How are you?"
" You should know." She moved passed him.
He followed her close behind. " Did you drive? I can take you back to the museum."
" No, I'm not going back. Let's head to your office." She walked to the passenger seat and got in. He watched her cautiously, not sure how to respond.
" You want to go back with me why?" He started the car. " I would think you would want nothing to do with me now."
The silence in the air was almost deafening. Devin looked out the window the entire time as though she was in some deep thought.
" Not everything is about you, Ethan called. You a showing coming up, so I'm walking the runway."
" You're still modelling? I thought-"
She interjected. " My grandmother has no say in what I do with my time. Thanks to my wish I have good luck on my side. I can live my life I please." There was an irritation to her voice. Dynos sensed it.
" That's good. I'm proud of you." Was all he could think of as a response.
What is wrong with me? He thought. Certainly, he wasn't afraid of her, was he? He glanced in her direction and sighed. No, he was afraid of getting to make her angrier than she probably was.
" I bet..."
Dynos winced. He deserved that. " I'm sorry for not checking on you. I thought you wouldn't want to see me."
" You could have called."
" I don't have your number."
Instantly, she turned to him. " Are you joking? The god that could teleport to my living room on a whim can't get my number?" She sighed. " If don't want to have anything to do with me, just say that and stop making excuses."
His hands tightened on the wheel. " It's not like that... I just didn't want to give more reasons to hang onto me."
The car was quiet again. Painfully quiet.
She reached over to his sides and began searching for something.
" What are you-"
She pulled out his phone. " You should at least have your mistress's number. In case of emergencies." She dialed it in, saving her name as 'Mistress' with a crown on either side. " There." She tucked the phone back where she found it.
" I thought you didn't like it when I called you that?" He snickered.
She shrugged. " It's no big deal. It sounds kinda nice sometimes."
She checked her phone and began to smile. Dynos was curious. What could make the queen of tears smile at a time like this. Then an idea that peeved him crossed his mind.
" Are you seeing someone?" He asked.
" Why? Envious?" She retorted.
He held himself from fuming. There was no way... " Who?"
She wore a sinister look. " The cute red head. You suggested..."
" I never called him cute." He mumbled.
" I'm pretty sure you did,"
Dynos was visibly annoyed with what he had just heard despite the fact that it was his fault in the first place. He was going to need a replacement cover his wheel after today. What was worse was that she actually seemed excited about a text from that...boy.
He wanted to pull over and take her right there in the car. That was all he ever thought about these days. He would apologize between kisses for being a ding bat and a loser. He would beg her to focus on him and have red boy hanging off a cliff somewhere. The fantasies running through his mind were immense, but not powerful. There was no way he would act on them.
He took another quick look at her, and admired how radiant she looked in the sun's rays. His eyes fell on her lips and the memories of that night flooded him again. His heart ached and galloped at the same time. This must be what Para was warning him about. He was practically human now. He was beginning to behave like one already.
Shit.
Things have gotten way out of control.

It was late in the evening already. Most of the employees had clocked out by then. He sat in his office idly, thinking. He hated the thought of Devin seeing someone else. He tried hard to bury himself in work all day, and yet all he can do is think of her.
Truth be told, he brought this upon himself. If he wanted to get rid of her, he would have made it clear that day on the bridge. Set himself of the prime villain. But hadn't he already done that? He made it seem like he was willing to kill her over and over. Why was she still so into him?
He understood himself. Dynos like her because she was open, smart, tenacious and an effortless beauty. The way she boldly confessed her feelings to him while being visibly nervous had struck something in him. Suddenly, nothing else mattered accept her. But why did she like him?
It could be just for the fact that he is good looking. He wouldn't blame anyone for falling his face and immaculate structure. But it didn't seem like Devin cared for his looks that much. Surely, it was a kink thing. Was it? He shuddered
Para would know, but she wasn't going to be around for a while. Something about a work trip.
There was a knock at the door, " Hey." Devin walked in.
Dynos stood up immediately. " Devin? I thought you left already. Do you need me take you home?"
She walked up to him. " I want us to be friends." He lifted his brow, shocked. " Clearly, you don't want me romantically. But we have a good thing as buddies. I'm going to date Ryan and try to forget anything about us. So that it'd be easier, when you leave. I could use all my wishes now, but a part of me won't let you go that easily. Plus, it's only fair, you make me suffer I make you suffer."
A grin almost formed on his face. Despite the fact that she basically telling her that they were done, he somehow found her more attractive.
" Okay, I agree. I missed our banter anyway." He tried his best to sound cool.
She cleared her throat and managed a smile. " I'm glad you feel that way. I missed you too," She fidgeted with her purse, before turning away. " I need to get some sleep; I need to be up bright and early tomorrow. Goodnight."
He replied " Goodnight." He sat back at his desk.
" Oh, and Dynos?"
He looked up. " Yeah?"
Devin stared at him in all seriousness, speaking with a calm voice. " If you ghost me for this long ever again, my next wish will be for your death." The slammed.
"Damn it." Dynos rubbed his forehead in frustration, He had to face it now.
He liked Devin Elroy.
