"RHYYYYY—"
SLAP!!!
Yae yanked Rhydan's collar from behind and slapped him across the face—hard. The sound echoed sharply between the stone walls.
Rhydan staggered back half a step, one hand on his cheek, still grinning.
"Ow… Worth it."
I was still frozen. Still holding my chest. Still processing what the hell had just happened.
Yae glared at Rhydan like she wanted to set him on fire.
"I'll rip your scales off one by one if you ever do that again!" she snapped. Her tiger ears were standing stiff, and her tail twitched wildly behind her.
Rhydan raised both hands in surrender, that smug smile never leaving his face. "Hey, hey, I just… tripped. That rock came out of nowhere."
"That rock's been there since earlier!"
"Then it's the rock's fault, not mine."
Yae swung her fist again, but I quickly grabbed her arm. "Stop," I said quietly. "I'm… I'm fine."
