Chapter 25 - Brother's fight for a woman?

Jamie, who had followed after Henry, glanced at Mia. She felt jealous and terrified. Even though Henry had forgotten all the memories of the past three years, his feelings for Mia were still buried in his mind and heart and they surfaced subconsciously now and then.

She had gone to great lengths to kick Mia out of Henry's life because she was worried that the two of them would rekindle their old flame, but she still couldn't control Henry completely.

Going by how Henry had rushed downstairs when he saw Mia with Lucas, she wondered if the man felt jealous of the closeness that Mia had with another man. Jamie gave Mia a brittle smile and remarked, "Henry is right, Mia. No matter how much you want to stay in the position of Mrs. Holman, there are some things that you can't do."

Her eyes flickered between Mia and Lucas as if she had cottoned on to something and she stated in a conspiratorial voice, "Making a move on your ex-husband's half-brother... umm, don't you think that's a bit too low, even if it is coming from you?"

After listening to Jamie's words, Henry understood what she was trying to imply. His expression turned even more upset as he turned and looked at Mia with a hint of blame in his eyes. "Is that what you are trying to do? Just because I don't give two fucks about you? Are you trying to seduce this bastard? I never thought you were such a slut, Mia Wills."

He then snorted and clutched Mia's wrist even harder.

"Ouch, you are hurting me." Mia yelped in pain when the man squeezed her wrist as if he wanted to break it.

Henry ignored her cry and continued to tighten his hold as he nodded and sneered mockingly, "But then again, what can I expect from the daughter of a fucking criminal?"

SLAP!

Before Mia could think things through, her hand moved instinctively. She slapped Henry with all the strength she could muster.

"Don't you dare!" She snapped, her chest heaving up and down heavily. "Say a thing about my father. He is twice the man you can be!"

Mia then turned to look at Jamie. "Don't be so complacent! Even the most skilled robbers make mistakes when committing robbery. One day, I will find the evidence to prove the innocence of my father, and you will pay for the things that you have done."

"Henry," Though Jamie felt her heart skip a beat, she pretended to be scared and buried her face in Henry's embrace. But inwardly, she was recalling the things and events of the day when she tried to trip Toby into her trap. She wondered quietly if she had left any evidence behind.

If there was, then she had to take care of it before Mia could lay her hands on it.

Impatience flitted across Henry's face as he looked at Mia and scolded her, "What are you yelling at her for? No matter how much you scream and yell, the truth will not change. Your father is a criminal."

Mia stiffened. She clenched her fingers so hard that her nails dug into the skin of her palm. She sneered and questioned, "What are you then? You are no better. So, I will let you know that you need to climb down that high horse, Henry Holman."

She snickered as she glanced at him up and down before stating, "My dad at least made a name for himself; if one were to take the surname Holman away from you, you would lose half of your pathetic personality. Including her."

Mia tipped her chin at Jamie. She had kept her tone carefully controlled, which was more than Jamie deserved but Mia had no intentions to cause any conflicts today.

Henry had to clamp his jaw to bite back a curse. He hated the way Mia had so easily looked down at him. When it should have been him who should be staring down at her. She had ruined his life by chasing Jamie away and had falsely made claims on him, which had led to the two of them getting married.

And yet she still looked at him with that daring look in her eyes as if he were not worth her time.

"You fucking bitch—"

"Ah, ah, ah," Lucas, who had been standing on the side quietly till now, stepped forward. He waved his forefinger at Henry's face and came to a stop in front of him, such that his build hid Mia behind him. "We don't disrespect women by calling them 'bitch, little brother. I believe that all the pricey etiquette classes must have taught you this much at the least?"

"Get the fuck out of my face," Henry bristled.

"I will if you step away from Miss Wills. You have disrespected her far too much and I think its high time you either apologise or go back inside the house. I don't want people to be talking about how barbaric the men of this house are," countered Lucas. He knew that it was not a great move to cause friction on the very first day of his arrival in this house and family but Henry was seriously stepping on his patience.

And that was something, as Lucas hardly ever lost his patience this easily.

Flushing red, Henry raised his fist and punched Lucas in the face. "As I said, get the fuck out of my face. You fucking bastard, you stand here in front of me like an ungrateful shit you are and you dare preach to me? Do you know who the fuck I am? I am Henry Holman! The legitimate heir of this family, you don't want to make an enemy out of me."

Mia gasped when she saw Lucas stumbling back after getting punched in the face by Henry, and so did Jamie.

"You can't make a worse enemy than I can, Little Bro." Lucas touched the side of his mouth that was bleeding slightly before wheeling around and throwing a punch at Henry's face.

BAM.

"HENRY!"

"Argh!"

"ENOUGH!" There came a thundering roar from behind.

Mia closed her eyes and sighed. It seemed like she would not be able to avoid conflicts today.
