On a warplane bound for New York, Nick Fury urgently contacted Agent Hill.
"How's the fight between Carol and Aaron going?"
"Sir, Carol hasn't fought Aaron yet—she's battling Gwen, code-named Spider-Woman. And she's winning."
"Fighting Spider-Woman? What's he thinking?"
Nick Fury sighed in relief upon hearing that Carol hadn't engaged Aaron directly. The tension in his chest eased.
Right now, the last thing he wanted was a clash between Carol and the God of Magic.
But Carol—she was still as arrogant as ever.
No, even more arrogant than before.
Years of space battles had blinded her to the limits of her own strength.
So blind that before he could even finish speaking, she had rushed off to challenge Aaron.
Seeing this, Nick Fury immediately mobilized his fighter jet to bring him to the battlefield.
But he was still too late.
Carol's speed was many times greater than even the most advanced Earth fighter jets.
By the time they reached New York, the battle had already begun.
Fortunately, she hadn't directly confronted Aaron.
Otherwise, things could have gotten complicated.
At least she was winning, which gave them some confidence in facing Asgard.
But what if she lost?
Still, something felt off—why had Aaron sent Gwen to face Carol?
Could Gwen also be connected to the Magic Net?
Nick Fury suddenly realized this was a perfect opportunity to observe.
A chance to see just how powerful the Magic Net could make its users.
"Sir, do you think Carol poses a threat to the God of Magic?" Hill asked curiously. "You seem optimistic about her."
She had been Nick Fury's second-in-command for years.
And yet, she had never come across any classified files about Carol Danvers.
It showed just how tightly Fury had kept this under wraps.
When she heard Carol had gone after Aaron, her first thought was:
This woman is insane!
Either she was strong enough to challenge him…
Or she was an absolute maniac.
"She's the strongest Avenger," Fury said, his voice calm. "Our last hope."
"As for whether she's strong enough… I can't say."
Now that his initial urgency had faded, he had the mind to chat.
"By the way, give her the codename Captain Marvel—designation 21."
"She'll be a permanent member of the Avengers and stationed on Earth for a while."
"Understood, sir!"
But before long, Hill's voice suddenly turned sharp with alarm.
"Sir, Captain Marvel is gone!"
"Huh? What happened? Did Carol lose?" Fury froze.
"Just now, after defeating Spider-Woman, Captain Marvel unleashed a massive surge of energy."
"She then attacked Spider-Woman again with another powerful blast…"
"But in an instant—Captain Marvel disappeared from the battlefield!"
"Our equipment couldn't track her movements. We don't know what happened."
"Wait—we just detected an intense forcefield in outer space!"
"It's breaking through the atmosphere—moving far faster than we can track!"
"Oh my God—she's already breached the atmosphere!"
"It's Carol!"
Hearing Hill's shocked voice, Fury immediately understood what had happened.
"You guessed it. Gwen used magic to teleport Carol into outer space."
"But that distance is nothing to her—it'll only take her a few seconds to return."
"The real battle is just beginning."
New York City—Battlefield
Just as Gwen was about to confirm the fight's outcome, Carol's voice rang out once again.
"Where do you think you're going? Our fight isn't over!"
Her tone was filled with irritation.
"Why are you using cheap tricks? Are you afraid to face me head-on?"
Gwen was surprised Carol had returned so quickly.
But hearing what she said, she couldn't help but scoff.
She smirked. "If a magician doesn't use magic in battle, then what's the point?"
"Uh…"
Carol was stunned for a moment before she finally reacted.
She had been so focused on Gwen's sudden energy surge and enhanced physical abilities…
That she had instinctively thought of Gwen as a warrior like herself.
She had completely forgotten that Gwen was a disciple of the God of Magic.
But still…
Are all magicians this strong now?
Carol was puzzled.
But her fighting spirit remained undiminished.
"Come on then!" she said, eyes blazing. "Let's see what kind of magic Aaron has given you!"
Gwen took the fight more seriously now.
She knew this wasn't going to be an easy win.
Carol was far stronger than she had anticipated.
But she couldn't lose—she was representing Aaron!
"Aikon's Form!"
Gwen conjured hundreds of duplicates.
Each one carried a fraction of her power.
They swarmed Carol, surrounding her completely.
"It's useless!" Carol scoffed. "No matter how many of you there are, you can't stop me!"
With that, she shot toward one of the duplicates at high speed.
The clone raised the Seraphim Shield, a high-level defensive spell.
But Carol shattered it in an instant.
These spells were only at Level 1.
Aaron hadn't taken the time to level them up.
They were available in the Magic Net—anyone with Level 2 clearance could redeem them.
And if someone wanted to skip learning and use them instantly?
They just needed more magic power.
For Gwen, that wasn't a problem.
She had magic to spare.
Carol kept advancing, aiming straight for the real Gwen.
Her plan was clear—mow through the duplicates in a straight line, reaching her target instantly.
But suddenly—
She felt a crushing force pressing down on her.
Her body was yanked downward.
Gravity had changed in an instant.
Gravity Manipulation!
A powerful spell from Kamar-Taj.
Aaron had been fascinated by it—so he had upgraded it to Level 5.
Now, he could alter gravity within a set area at will.
In his battle against Belasco, the Hell Lord, he had used this very spell to deprive an entire region of gravity—slowing Belasco's movements.
Now, Gwen was using it to slow Carol down.
Because Carol was too fast.
In her Binary form, most opponents could only take a beating.
Only someone with god-level reflexes could even hope to react.
Even Aaron himself couldn't beat her in pure speed.
But Aaron could alter the physical laws around him.
So he didn't need to.
Gwen, on the other hand, had to find another way.
Carol struggled against the gravity, adapting to it at an astonishing rate.
It wouldn't take long before she broke free.
Gwen knew she had only moments to act.
She immediately cast her next spell.
"Hand of Glory!"
At the same time, her clones released Cyttorak's Crimson Chains, wrapping Carol in layers of magical bindings.
Carol's adaptation slowed.
She was now locked in place—unable to break free.
The combined power of dozens of Gwen's duplicates wasn't weaker than Carol.
And then—
Gwen struck.
A single punch, charged with immense magical energy.
It slammed directly into Carol's face.
Carol had no fear.
She squared her stance, standing firm, ready to take the blow.
She believed nothing could shake her.
Not this.
Not Gwen.
But then—
Pain.
Blinding, mind-numbing pain.
The moment the punch landed, her face contorted from the impact.
Her vision blurred.
Her consciousness flickered.
And then—
She was gone.
Knocked out cold.
Her body shot through the air, breaking free from the magical chains—not because she resisted—
But because she had been blasted away.
Captain Marvel had been slapped in the face.
And she fainted.
Aaron applauded.
"Well done!"
The others joined in.
"You win, Gwen," Aaron declared.
"I… won?"
Gwen blinked, still wary.
Carol had returned so quickly before—
Would she again?
But Aaron chuckled.
"Relax. She's not coming back for a while."
Back on the warplane, Nick Fury's communicator showed Carol's signal.
No response.
"Sir…" Hill hesitated.
"Captain Marvel has flown into space."
Nick Fury looked up at the sky.
It was dark.
And there was nothing there.
"Huh? Was she teleported again?" Nick Fury asked, his tone more composed this time.
"No, she was bound by Spider-Woman's magic and sent flying with a punch!"
"Oh, that's fine. Carol will be back soon."
Fury remained unfazed.
Carol was a woman who could withstand missiles from the Kree warships and tear through steel with her bare hands.
Forget about Gwen; even the Hulk's punch couldn't threaten Carol.
"But… she fainted…"
"Huh? Who fainted? Carol? You're joking, right?!" Nick Fury's voice rose in disbelief, his tone filled with shock.
Could Carol really have been knocked unconscious by Gwen's punch?
Was that even possible?
"It's not a joke... If I'm not mistaken, she really did faint…"
Hill Agent glanced at Captain Marvel, still soaring through the sky with no sign of slowing down, and responded with near certainty.
The only other explanation would be death.
While it was difficult to capture the exact details of Carol's movements, the available data made it clear: the strongest Avenger, the one Nick Fury had placed his highest hopes on, had indeed been knocked out by Spider-Woman's punch.
Otherwise, why would Carol keep flying for so long without stopping? Her body remained stiff, unmoving.
The only explanation was that she had fainted—anything else would be unthinkable.
Hill didn't voice the more extreme possibility, as unlikely as it seemed.
Nick Fury instinctively pulled out his communicator and pressed the button.
It confirmed the message had been received, but there was no response.
No reassuring voice of Carol's came through from behind.
It was then that Nick Fury finally believed Hill's report.
"Forward the video and tell me her location."
"Uh, the video has been sent to you, but... the exact location…"
Hill paused, her gaze fixed on Captain Marvel, who had broken through the atmosphere and was now flying through space.
She fell silent for a moment before adding, "It might take some time to pinpoint her exact location. She's already in space…"
Nick Fury unconsciously looked up at the sky.
It was pitch-black and completely empty.
