Chapter 20 - Godly Spectators

(Oh wow? He's still sleeping. Wake up!!! Wakie wakie! Arise! Get yo!!!)

Jared winced a bit; that voice was so annoying.

Opening his eyes, he wanted to know who had dared to enter his room to make such noise, especially when he was resting for the work he had tomorrow.

What he saw was not anything he was expecting at all.

Hovering right on top of him was a small, flying orange fairy-like monster with a ring floating right above its head.

Having a blank look on his face, Jared decided to close his eyes and go back to sleep.

It was probably a dream.

And even if it wasn't, he didn't plan on wasting his time on anything that would bring more work to him, and the monster, in particular, screamed unwanted responsibility.

(Hey!!! Don't just go back to sleep!!!)

"Go away. I'm not looking to adopt any flying ants." Jared shifted his sleeping position.

(I'm not a flying ant, you insolent human!!!)

Opening one eye, Jared could clearly see how angry the creature was.

"Uhn? Then what kind of bug are you?"

(I am not a bug!)

Now hovering to the left side of the room, the creature sat down on his hair, jaw resting on his fist.

(The name is Flaki. I am a direct messenger from the Intercom Streaming Council, a fairy, if you will, supervising the entertainment of the gods.)

'Streaming?' Jared sat upright.

Perhaps he was getting a bit interested in what the grasshopper had to say.

(Of course I know you are confused. They always are. So I'll explain it in simple terms.)

Flaki cleared his throat.

(Normally, we don't ever need to interfere with the doings of an otherworlder, with the exception of when a number of gods have taken a liking to them.)

Flaki continued,

(When you first arrived in this world, you had one goddess who took a liking to you, the goddess of trade. As such, you were given the divine blessing to make trades of all kinds. After a while, the god of Trust took a liking to you and then gave you the divine blessing of loyalty.)

He moved closer.

(Which means you currently have two gods observing you in this world, pretty awesome, uhh? Not many otherworlders can interest two gods in such a short time. It turns out, not only two gods want to observe you now; another god has joined your streaming service, the god of Information.)

Flaki raised a shoulder,

(Since you have more than two gods now observing you, I'm afraid a few rules need to change in order to entertain them equally. Do you understand?)

Flaki finally faced Jared.

Jared was still seated on the bed, though his focus was nowhere near Flaki.

(Oi! Do you understand what I just said?!)

Jared still gave no response, despite Flaki flying around his head to grab his attention.

With his fingers finding their way to his jaw, Jared thought hard for a while.

'I'm being observed? By gods? I shouldn't be too surprised about that considering I did reincarnate, but the ladybug did say this is normal for the gods to do.'

Jared couldn't help but think.

Could there be a chance there are other people who reincarnated just as he did?

And if that's the case, are the gods watching him like the spider claimed they were watching him?

Do the gods want to be entertained by their lives that badly?

Jared sighed; thinking about it wasn't going to do much for him anyway.

"Tell me, what are the changes you say will be implemented for having three gods now watching me?" He asked Flaki, who was pulling his finger with all he had.

Not that Jared fully understood what was happening. Actually, he asked that question because he wanted to understand even more.

Flaki sat on the bed, catching his breath.

(You finally came to. Well, the changes aren't all that grand. See, amongst the gods, the God of Trade has the most influence, which means she can easily render the rest of the gods' blessings useless, making it hard for them to also engage. As such, all we'll be doing is limiting her influence. Here... check this contract.)

Swiping his hand to the side, a contract appeared before Jared in the form of a system template.

[Streaming contract.]

[Agreement 1: In accordance with the rules, every god that chooses to observe you must bless you with their divine blessing and cannot leave or remove said divine blessing until you decide you don't need it anymore.

Agreement 2: Limiting of divine blessings in order to allow other gods to have their parts will be implemented. As such, the God of Trade will be limited to only buying items and regular power-ups, nothing more.

Agreement 3: The gods can choose to help you if you ever need it, be it through gifting holy artifacts or having a one-on-one interaction.]

Jared sighed aloud.

(Eh?! What is it? Do you not like the agreement?! Come on, I think it's pretty good, right? No other otherworlder gets this much preferential treatment!)

"If I refuse to agree to this contract?"

Flaki's face turned serious.

(Then I am afraid we will have to block any god that wants to observe you. You will be without a divine blessing.)

"Figures..." Jared scoffed.

He had a few experiences with signing contracts in his old world as an author. And almost every time, it was always the same thing.

Sign this, or else you won't get the full package.

Kind of like trying to enter a new app and seeing the terms and agreements; it's not like you have a choice to not accept it if you want to use the app.

"Okay, fine, I accept."

(Yappaaaa! You made the right choice!)

[The God of Trade is not happy about the current situation.]

[The God of Information is eager to see what you'll do next.]

[The God of Trust doesn't mind the change in scenario.]

The templates appeared before him.

'Feels like I am in some kind of TV show. Being observed by gods... they better be paying for my services.'

(Anyway, this is where I go. I have other people to attend to. Bye-bye, Son of the Golden Star!)

And with that, Flaki disappeared.
