---------------------
The Law Maker (Jin) followed Riva through the shattered paths of the ruined settlement. She walked ahead without a word, leading him toward the area where the broken ones stayed—the ones who had lost more than just their will to fight.
When they reached, she stepped aside. The Law Maker (Jin) walked forward in silence.
He approached the first one and placed his hand gently on their head. A quiet pulse of Ki moved through his fingers. The twisted memories—the pain, the screams, the fear—were removed. He erased what had broken them. When it was done, they fell asleep.
He moved on to the next, then the next. Again and again. Touch, Ki, memory wiped. Sleep followed. He didn't speak. He didn't stop.
By the end, the entire area was quiet. All of them were asleep. The Law Maker (Jin) made sure of it—sleep would help their minds adjust. They would be fine after waking up.
Then, without looking back, he walked away from the place while Riva and the others quietly stepped forward, beginning to move the sleeping ones to a more comfortable place.
A short celebration followed a day later. All of them had woken up—sane, quiet, whole again.
There was no food, only a few drinks they had saved. Just a portion, but enough.
The reason for no food became clear to The Law Maker (Jin). They were Xlerians. At first, he hadn't noticed—visually, they looked human. But while healing them, he had felt it. Beneath their skin, in certain parts, the texture changed—scale-like, not flesh.
They absorbed energy from the sun. It was their food. Which was something he discovered when he casually asked about meals. At first, they were confused by the question. Then it clicked—they assumed The Law Maker (Jin) came from a civilization that hadn't yet reached the stars. One still bound to a single world. That explained his lack of knowledge. So, they explained more about them.
On their homeworld, real sunlight was rare. They only saw the sun five to ten times a year. So, they still needed food to survive. The moon reflected light, but not enough to sustain them.
As for the artificial sun hovering over the plaza was a piece of tech from their world. Stable, efficient, and clean. It provides nourishment in small doses in this world that lacks foods and drinks.
During the small celebration, The Law Maker (Jin) interacted with many of them. Learned more.
The language he spoke—one of the universal tongues. Rich, old, and adaptable. There were many universal languages, each shaped by the vocal ranges of different species. Some shared similar sounds, others completely foreign. So, multiple languages were needed to bridge the stars.
Then came the question. Someone asked where he came from.
The Law Maker (Jin) simply said, "Earth."
That stopped everything.
They stared. Then someone quietly said it—a death world.
Earth, they told him, had been abandoned long ago. The sentient races moved away. The planet was no longer livable. Not because of poison or war, but because life itself had changed. Beasts, monstrous and unnatural, had become the dominant species. Even the Galactic Council acknowledged it. Earth was now a sealed world—watched from a distance, left untouched.
Still, there had been whispers. Over the years, the deadly readings from Earth had dropped. Slowly, steadily. Some began to believe that maybe, just maybe, civilization could return to that world.
Just when they were about to ask The Law Maker (Jin) if there was truly civilization still surviving there—
He paused. Eyes narrowing.
"Please wait," The Law Maker (Jin) said. "I'm sensing something… eerie from outside."
Riva froze. Others noticed the change in his tone.
She quickly turned to the rest. "Everyone! Be ready! The Warden is making his move!"
Within seconds, the atmosphere changed. Survivors who were resting snapped to alert. They grabbed their nano armors—still damaged, but usable. Weapons were checked. Visors snapped into place.
In less than a minute, they all stood outside the plaza. The Law Maker (Jin) included.
They saw it.
Something was approaching from beyond the horizon. Slowly, steadily. A massive wave of shadows.
The Law Maker (Jin) focused, Ki, rushing through his eyes, enhancing his sight.
"…It seems like monsters. But… wait." He frowned. "They look… dead. Walking dead?"
A girl, Lisa, stepped closer. Her voice small. "How? How can deads walk?"
Riva answered without hesitation. "The Warden. It's him. He doesn't want peace. He wants to break us again."
She turned to The Law Maker (Jin). "Mr. Maker, can you tell how many there are?"
The Law Maker (Jin) closed his eyes briefly, sensing through the earth and air.
"Roughly... at least one hundred thousand."
Murmurs spread. Fear crawled in. The Law Maker (Jin) raised his hand calmly.
Then he stepped forward.
He used his hand to draw a circle using Ki, then slammed it to the ground. Soon, a circular wall formed around the plaza. It looked like a wall of shifting energy—stable, glowing, humming.
The Wall of Destruction.
The moment the undead passed through it, they disintegrated. No sound. No struggle. Just ash.
But it came at a price.
The Law Maker (Jin) stumbled slightly. Huff... huff...
Riva rushed forward. "What happened?"
The Law Maker (Jin) steadied himself. "The wall... It's one of my powerful attacks known as the Wall of Destruction. It drains stamina quickly, which is why I rarely use it. But this time... I had to. Three powerful ones are coming… and I might not be able to defeat them without a distraction."
Riva turned to her squad. "Form three groups!"
The Law Maker (Jin) shook his head. "No. Just two. If you split further, you won't win."
"I might not be able to handle all three at once but if it is one at a time then it's a different case. Just keep it occupied," he added.
She hesitated but quickly accepted his order and went to her teammates.
Soon, the wave of weak undead perished. Ash floated in the air.
Then came the three.
Massive. Distorted. Dripping with hatred. but They walked through the wall—untouched and they were marching toward them steadily.
The Law Maker (Jin) exhaled and opened his dimensional pocket. He took out a glass of coffee mixed with crystal shards he had stored earlier. When he first tried it, he discovered its effect—it refreshed him, restored his stamina, and caused heavy intoxication. But that part no longer affected him. For him, it was now a very good potion.
After finishing it. His senses were sharpened. Stamina restored.
Which he would need for what was coming next. The fight wouldn't be easy unless he relied on his Primal Power, but It won't be fun.
Because he realized that he needed to reignite his warrior spirit which he had left behind as it seemed he might need it for what lay ahead in his future adventures.
