Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 – Bound by Chains

The next morning, Heaven awoke to the sound of steady beeping from the heart monitor. Her body ached from sleeping in the chair, but she didn't care. The first thing she did was check on Michael.

His fever had gone down even more, and his breathing was steadier. Relief flooded her, and she exhaled a shaky breath.

"You're going to be okay, Micky," she whispered, gently brushing his hair back.

"You look like hell, kitten."

The deep, amused voice sent an immediate wave of irritation through her. She turned to find Dylan standing by the door, dressed in another sleek black suit, watching her with his usual smirk.

"Go away," she muttered.

He ignored her, walking closer. "The doctor said he's stable. He just needs rest."

She crossed her arms, narrowing her eyes. "And what? You expect me to thank you?"

Dylan chuckled. "No, I expect you to remember our deal."

Her stomach twisted.

He bent down slightly, bringing his face closer to hers. "You stay by my side. No escape attempts, no rebellion."

Heaven clenched her fists. "And what happens if I break your stupid rules?"

Dylan smirked, his fingers tilting her chin up slightly.

"Then I remind you who's in control."

Her breath hitched, but she quickly yanked her face away. "You're disgusting."

Dylan only laughed. "Get ready. We're leaving soon."

Her eyes widened. "I'm not leaving Michael."

"You're not," he replied casually. "He'll be moved to my private estate. He'll get better care there."

She froze.

Dylan's estate?

The thought of being trapped under his roof, under his control, sent panic rushing through her veins.

"No," she said firmly. "He stays here."

Dylan's smirk faded, his expression turning cold. "It wasn't a request, Heaven."

She swallowed hard.

Jayden walked in at that moment. "The transfer is ready, boss."

Dylan gave a satisfied nod. "Good." He turned back to Heaven. "Say goodbye to this place. You and your brother belong to me now."

Her heart pounded in her chest.

Trapped.

No escape.

This was only the beginning of her nightmare.
