Chapter 35: End of Volume 1
(Authors note: A super long chapter for you guys :))))
After we reached the Hidden Leafs camp, Naido and Kakshi sensei made their way towards the commander's tent with the body of Yugito.
For the entire duration of the way back I was carried by Kakashi sensei.
The entire camp celebrated the unexpected victory and our morale was at an all time high.
Only a handful of people were disappointed with what was happening and they were from our squad.
Yuki was disappointed that he couldn't even blitz the opponent Kunoichi.
It was also a little surprising that sensei could use Genjutsu against a Genjutsu type…just how broken was this man?
Ayumi was also beginning to take her circumstances more seriously, since she lost so easily to her opponent.
There was Sakura, who still couldn't comprehend why Sasuke was so pissed off, and didn't see much wrong with her performance.
I mean, she realized she was weak but she still didn't know what to do about it.
Then there was Naruto, pleased with his performance, but still in awe of Sensei's power.
He realized how far he had to go before he could become Hokage.
And then there was me, who was eagerly waiting for the system to promote me into a Jonin.
The evaluation was actually done in a second, but I hadn't had free time to accept the promotion yet since I wanted to do it in a spot where no one was near me.
And now was the perfect time…well, after I recovered.
…
I made my way to the medical quarters with the help of Naruto whom was oddly quiet, each step sending sharp jolts of pain through my body.
The medical tent was bustling with activity—injured shinobi lined the makeshift beds, groaning as medical-nin moved between them, their hands glowing with healing chakra.
I was directed to a cot and eased myself onto it, gritting my teeth as a dull, throbbing ache spread through my back.
A regular medical-nin approached and began working on me. His hands glowed with soft green chakra, easing the pain in my muscles and numbing the worst of my injuries.
He cleaned my wounds, carefully bandaged my torn flesh, and stabilized my fractured bones as best he could.
But it wasn't enough.
The moment he finished, he shook his head. "Your injuries are beyond my level. The muscle tears are deep, and your spine took a serious hit. You'll need someone more experienced."
He gave me an apologetic glance before stepping away. "Wait here. I'll bring someone higher-ranked."
As I rested, staring at the ceiling of the tent, I couldn't help but reflect.
This fight showed me my limitations.
Even with a Forbidden-ranked jutsu. Even with everything I had. Against an Elite Jonin, I barely managed to keep up. And if the fight had truly been one-on-one, I would have lost.
I needed to get stronger.
I turned to look at Naruto, who had a serious look on his face.
It seems like war makes even Naruto serious.
I could already see hints of his future, slightly more mature Shippuden counterpart.
The one who made it seem like he could carry the burden of the entire world, alone if he had to.
Before I could say anything, the tent flap was pushed aside, and Shizune stepped in.
Naruto immediately turned to her. "Shizune! Can you bring Grandma Tsunade? She'll fix him up, right?"
Shizune sighed, shaking her head. "Lady Tsunade is busy with critical patients right now. I'm handling as much as I can in her place."
Naruto grumbled but didn't argue.
Shizune turned her attention to me, eyes scanning my injuries with a practiced gaze. "What exactly did this to you?"
I didn't bother hiding it. "I'm a user of the Eight Inner Gates. A disciple of the Green Beast."
Her eyes widened slightly before nodding in understanding. "That explains it."
She didn't need to ask anything else—she knew what kind of damage opening the Gates could cause.
"I'll see what I can do for now."
After fixing me up as much as she could, Shizune also gave me some crutches.
"You're actually healing at a remarkable rate." She said, as she observed me.
Well, ya no shit…I am a Senju at the end of the day.
"I think a couple of weeks…probably much earlier, of rest is enough for a full recovery. But just in case, I will ask Lady Tsunade to check up on you." She mentioned as I nodded.
"Are you truly okay?" Naruto asked me, not leaving my side the entire time.
"Naruto, follow me. It is time for me to check up on you." Shizune mentioned.
"What? I am fine!" Naruto protested, but it fell onto deaf ears as Shizune dragged him out.
Alright…now that I am free.

I felt a strange, sudden pull, like my very being was being transported to a place of nothingness. My surroundings shifted, and I was left standing in an empty void.
Before me, a glowing screen appeared, displaying a list of options. The system's voice echoed in my mind.
"I accept my rewards," I muttered aloud.
The screen flickered, and immediately, a list of S-rank bloodlines materialized in front of me.
The familiar list of S-rank bloodlines from the Village Hidden in the Leaves appeared before me, just as it had when I first started the game.
{-Uchiha
-Senju
-Uzumaki
-Hyūga
-Hatake
-Sarutobi
-Namikaze}
Though some of the names felt familiar, I noticed a few that were entirely unique—presumably custom bloodlines created by the system itself. I couldn't even begin to guess what kind of powers they might grant.
I scanned through the list, considering my options. While the power of the eye clans was tempting, I wasn't interested in taking that route. After all, if I truly wanted overpowered eyes, I could always transplant them myself.
The other clans held appeal, but one in particular caught my attention more than the rest
[Uzumaki]
As I picked that, I watched as a lot of system notifications popped up right in front of me.
{Player Mathew has selected the Uzumaki clan}

{-System Announcement- Due to a drastic achievement accomplished by a player, an expansion pack is being added to the game}
{Update time: 24 Hours}
…
Right after reading all of that, I found myself awake inside of the real world.
Seems like I did something drastic, and maybe I would be rewarded the Elite Player chat.
My body also felt…much lighter for some reason.
I took off my headset and did a massive stretch. It seems like after spending weeks inside of the game, I will be forced to log off for a full day.
When I looked around my room, I couldn't help but be shocked. Everything looked so different!
All the clutter and rubbish inside of my room had been cleared, and I could even see past my room door to the rest of my house!
In shock, I walked out of my room, and realized my entire family were happily having…IS THAT PIZZA?
"Hey bro." My brother said with a cheeky smile as he handed me a slice.
"My project got approved by the Federation. My patent has also been approved and we are going to be making a lot of money now." My brother told me.
I felt my world spinning a little.
Being a steamer or a part of the largest guilds was the biggest source of income in this world, right after being politicians and scientists.
And being a gamer was the easiest thing, simply because one didn't require prior experience for those things.
Typically, games allowed streaming, but Elemental Nations didn't allow them yet.
Everyone in the world wanted a sort of escapism, since being trapped inside of bunkers didn't really help their livelihood, so they lived vicariously through others.
Being a politician however required a certain form of background you just needed to be born into. For example, I couldn't run to be the next Leader of the Federation because I am not of 'noble,' blood.
I say noble, more of 'refined,' as propaganda in this world puts it.
And being a scientist also was not easy. In a post apocalyptic world, anything that could make the masses' lives easier was heavily sought after.
However not everyone could study, since any and all information, even basic things like science, was hidden from the public for some reason in this world.
So it was a hard journey for my brother, who aimed to make the world a better place as he strived to simply study.
Our parents decided to invest in him as well, and after doing plenty of academic tests online, he was granted temporary access to specific materials of knowledge, and with just that he had made his Atomic Reconfigurator.
With that, he was able to begin repurposing all the plastic and waste that was being dumped into homes from the city council.
However my brother did only get 10% of the shares whenever the Federation decided to sell his Atomic Reconfigurator to cities, towns and places around the world
But what could we do when we were basically living inside of a monarchy?
I was honestly more surprised they didn't just take his invention as a matter of 'National Security.'
Seeing me in shock, my mother began to chuckle as my father looked towards my brother in pride.
"You know." My dad began, "Your brother is earning enough for us to be a part of the surface."
The surface!
Where for me, an ex-modern human, it was normal, that was not the case in this world.
There were very few cities in this world that could fight the radiation, and to be a resident of one of those cities is basically saying you are at the top 0.01% of the world!
"When do we leave?"
"Right now actually." My brother said, "We were going to wake you up soon."
"I will pack my things." I told them in excitement. I was already salivating at the thought of having a shower everyday.
"Also, I got an email that you won something in your game?"
…
The apartment, tucked inside a huge building, is a cozy spot for four people.
It's got comfy furniture, like a big sectional sofa and a nice dining table for family dinners.
Huge windows show off a great view of the city, with tall buildings and busy streets all under a giant bubble that protects everyone from the radiation outside.
The bubble gives the city a cool, almost magical look.
The name of this city is Radiant Heaven, and it was where my family and I would be staying from now on.
My brother also got hired as a researcher inside of the Federation, so he got a high paying job on top of his patent money.
According to him, with any luck, his next projects he would get a larger cut of the profits.
Well, if you can't beat them, join them.
Coming to this place was a surreal experience, since it was a weird helicopter that was encased in a bubble.
Seeing so many bubbles kind of reminded me of celestial dragons from one piece.
Inside of my room, I also had my full dive technology sent by the developers.
The full dive headset is this sleek, high-tech marvel with a clear visor, almost like a sci-fi scuba mask.
I'm lying in a comfy pod filled with warm nutritional liquid meant for fuel diving, wearing an oxygen mask that helps me breathe.
They also provided 3 sets of exo-suits for these full dive pods.
All of this is connected to a mind-blowing virtual reality system that takes me on these wild adventures.
They really are going all out for a game.
Well, time for me to log into this game again, after 24 whole hours.
…
I felt like I was floating around in a large expanse of for one second, and in the next, I saw a figure appear right before my eyes, staring at me with great interest.
He looked like a playful young blond child, viewing the entire world in curiosity.
Wait…viewing the world? What was that planet at the bottom of our feet?!
"Who are you?" I asked in a confused tone.
"Me? I am him." The child replied in a tone sure of himself.
"What?" I asked in confusion.
"So did you figure it out?" The childish voice spread into the surroundings as he looked at me with great interest.
"Figure out what?"
"Well…That the Elemental Nations world is real? What else?"
