Chapter 2 - Prologue 2

Saito-sensei fell silent after hearing Rhaze's words. With a grumbling tone, he muttered, "Tch, whatever you say."

The three of them exited the Dojo and continued walking toward the next room. As they walked through the quiet hallway, Rhaze turned to Frima.

"Sorry about the commotion earlier. That was Saito-sensei, our trainer—he's from the oni race. He'll be your instructor soon."

Frima looked a bit surprised. "Huh! Oni race?"

Rhaze nodded. "Yeah, he's an oni. Why?"

"No, it's nothing," Frima replied, shaking his head. "An oni, huh… this is my first time seeing one. He looks nothing like the ones in manga," he thought. Then he turned to Hina and asked, "Hey, Hina, why didn't you say anything earlier? You didn't stand up for Rhaze at all."

"Well, I wanted to, but Leader Rhaze had a solid reason to explain everything to Saito-sensei."

"And also… Saito-sensei is my teacher. He's the one who trained me in katana sword techniques."

"Katana?" Frima blinked in surprise. "Heh~ So you know how to use a katana?"

"So even in other dimensions, they have katanas and sword techniques… not just in Japan," he thought to himself.

"Yeah, why?" Hina tilted her head, looking at Frima with curiosity.

"It's nothing—it's just, I really like katanas too," Frima replied with an enthusiastic smile.

"Oh! Really?"

"Yess!" Frima clenched his fist and jumped a little in excitement.

Hearing their conversation, Rhaze joined in. "Heh~ So you're a katana fan, huh? Just like Hina. You two might make a good match, hehehe," he teased with a mischievous grin toward Frima.

"Hah?! What do you mean by that?" Frima narrowed his eyes at Rhaze suspiciously.

Rhaze chuckled. "Nothing, nothing. Just joking, hehehe."

Frima shifted the conversation. "Oh right, Rhaze. About the choice you gave me earlier—what happens if I choose the first one?"

"Oh, that?" Rhaze smiled casually. "Well, your memories will be permanently erased, from your childhood all the way to the present."

"After that… you'll lose direction and purpose, not knowing who you are or what to do next."

Frima shuddered upon hearing that. His eyes narrowed, and cold sweat began to drip down his temple. "Wow, that's pretty scary."

After a while, they finally reached the next room, which was the operator's room, filled with advanced equipment and computers. Frima's eyes sparkled in amazement.

"Wow, seriously?! The headquarters has equipment this advanced? Even high-quality computers? Amazing!"

In that room, a goblin with black hair and glasses was typing up a mission report from headquarters.

Without a second thought, Rhaze introduced him to Frima.

"Let me introduce you to Ray. He's a goblin with exceptional intelligence because he's a reincarnation." Rhaze struck a dramatic pose toward Ray.

Ray paused his typing, then turned around and gave a salute to Frima.

Ray casually sat back in his chair and greeted, "Yeah, nice to meet you, human. What's your name?"

Frima slightly bowed and replied, "Nice to meet you, my name is Frima Erlangga."

Ray looked at Rhaze and asked, "Hey, leader. Why did you recruit a human? Are you sure? The headquarters is—"

Rhaze cut Ray off with a confident smile. "I'll take responsibility for it, don't worry."

Ray sighed. "Huff… well, that's up to you, leader. I don't care."

After that, Ray returned to his work, compiling the reports he had received from headquarters, while the three of them exited the operator room and headed to the next room.

They moved on to the next room—the infirmary—we a female slime named Rinny worked as both doctor and nurse.

As soon as they stepped inside, Rinny, busy examining some medicines, turned around with a gentle smile.

"Araa~ Looks like the Chief is here. Do you need something?" she greeted.

"No, just here to introduce our new member," Rhaze replied casually.

"New member! Who is the new member, Chief?" Rinny asked, curiosity sparkling in her eyes.

Striking a dramatic pose, Rhaze gestured toward Frima.

"Allow me—this is our newest member, Frima Erlangga. He's a human from Dimension 135."

Frima bowed politely.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Frima Erlangga, a former business consultant."

Rinny glanced at him and murmured,

"Heh~ another human, huh."

Frima caught her under-breath comment and thought to himself, "A human? Does that mean no one else like me has ever joined the Keeper of Dimension Door before?"

Rinny's expression softened into a sweet smile as she formally introduced herself.

"Nice to meet you, Frima. I'm Rinny, the doctor and nurse here at the Keeper of Dimension Door headquarters."

"If you ever get sick or injured, don't hesitate to come to me for treatment, okay? Frima-kyun~" she added, her tone light and flowery.

Frima's cheeks flushed as he turned away, both embarrassed and amused.

"Frima-kyun~! Why is she calling me that? T-this is… so embarrassing," he thought.

Rinny's grin grew mischievous.

"Araa~ don't be shy, Frima-kyun~. It's just a special welcome for new members, fufufu~"

Rhaze stepped in, cutting off her teasing.

"Alright, Rinny—enough with the teasing. Frima's already been 'matched' with Hina."

"WHAT?!" Frima blurted out, eyebrows knitting together. "What do you mean, Rhaze?"

Rhaze ignored his protest and continued down the hallway, introducing the next room.

Frima, still fuming, fell silent. Hina, noticing his irritation, offered a soothing smile.

"Don't take it personally. Leader Rhaze likes to tease everyone—even me sometimes."

"Huff…" Frima exhaled, his expression softening. "Okay, I won't take it to heart."

Rhaze then took Frima on a full tour of the headquarters, accompanied by Hina. They visited the lounge, kitchen, dining area, bedrooms, and finally arrived at the meeting room.

Eventually, the three of them stood in front of the final room— the meeting room. Rhaze began explaining.

"This last one is the meeting room," Rhaze said casually. "Tomorrow, you'll be coming here to introduce yourself to the rest of the members."

"Aside from that, we'll also be going over the rules and responsibilities of the Keeper of Dimension Door organization. So don't be late, got it?" He gave a small smile.

Frima nodded in understanding. "Yeah, I got it. I'll do my best to be on time."

"Good!" Rhaze said with a satisfied smile and continued his explanation. "Ah, right. I almost forgot. I should also explain the level and rank system in this organization."

Curious, Frima asked right away, "Huh? Levels and ranks?"

Rhaze nodded. "That's right. Levels and ranks determine your role and status in the organization. It starts from level 1 with Bronze rank, up to level 40 with Platinum rank."

"To level up, you'll need to complete various missions issued by central command. These missions are categorized from Rank F all the way to Rank SSS."

Frima listened intently as Rhaze went on with his explanation.

"Rank F and E missions are assigned to members at level 1 to 10 with Bronze rank. Rank D and C missions are for level 11 to 20 with Silver rank. Then, Rank B and A missions are for level 21 to 30 with Gold rank."

"And lastly, Rank S and SS missions are only for those at level 31 to 40 with Platinum rank. Rank SSS missions are special raid missions—those can't be done solo."

Rhaze looked at Frima with a serious gaze. "Do you understand?"

Frima nodded. "Yeah, I understand."

Rhaze smiled, clearly pleased. "Good. In that case, you can return to your dimension now... or, if you'd like, you can stay here for the night."

"No, I'll just go home for now," Frima replied casually.

"Alright then. See you tomorrow. Don't be late," Rhaze said while waving his hand as he walked away.

Once everything was settled, Frima returned to Dimension 135. When he arrived, he bid farewell to Hina before heading home.

On his way back, a sense of uncertainty crept into his heart. Could he really handle all of this? But he clenched his fists tightly, steeling himself. No matter what happens… this is the fate he must walk.
