The battlefield buzzed with energy as two Mega Evolutions faced off midair. Mega Charizard X's blackened scales gleamed under the sunlight, its blue flames flickering dangerously. Opposite it, Mega Pidgeot's golden wings flared as the winds roared, signaling the battle's true beginning.
Daniel crossed his arms. "This is going to be intense. Mega Pidgeot is no joke—it's one of the fastest Pokémon in the air."
Cynthia smirked. "But Charizard X isn't slow either. And if I know Alex, he's got a plan."
Falkner adjusted his gloves, his sharp gaze locked on Alex. "Let's take this battle to new heights—Pidgeot, Hurricane!"
Pidgeot's wings flapped once—but that single movement whipped up a raging tornado, sending debris and powerful winds spiraling toward Mega Charizard X.
Alex didn't flinch. "Charizard, counter it! Fire Blast!"
Charizard inhaled, its throat glowing blue before it unleashed a massive flaming kanji (大) symbol. The fiery attack collided with Hurricane, causing a thunderous explosion midair.
Both Pokémon were forced back by the shockwave, but Falkner pressed on.
"Now! Air Slash!"
Mega Pidgeot vanished in a blur, appearing behind Charizard before slashing downward with razor-sharp wind blades.
SLASH!
Charizard grunted as the attack hit, but Alex smirked.
"Got you. Charizard, grab Pidgeot!"
Charizard spun midair and snagged Pidgeot's wing with its claw, locking them in a grapple.
Falkner's eyes widened. "Not bad, but you're forgetting something—Mega Pidgeot's No Guard ability means all its attacks hit no matter what! Pidgeot, Hyper Beam!"
Pidgeot charged golden energy in its beak—point-blank at Charizard.
Alex remained calm, his eyes locked onto his opponent.
"Charizard, tank it and use Outrage!"
BOOOOOM!
The Hyper Beam exploded in Charizard's face, sending shockwaves across the gym. But as the smoke cleared, Charizard's eyes glowed red, its body pulsing with raw draconic energy.
"NOW!"
With a feral roar, Charizard unleashed a storm of brutal slashes and fire-imbued strikes, pummeling Pidgeot midair!
Falkner gritted his teeth. "Dodge, Pidgeot—"
CRASH!
Charizard's final claw strike sent Pidgeot spiraling down, crashing into the battlefield below.
The dust settled.
Pidgeot was down.
"Mega Pidgeot is unable to battle! Mega Charizard X wins!"

The crowd erupted into cheers.
Alex exhaled, watching as Mega Charizard X reverted to its normal form. He smiled, patting its side. "You did great, buddy."
Falkner returned his Pidgeot and approached Alex with a grin. "That was some impressive battling. You don't just rely on raw power—you use strategy, adaptability, and instinct. I respect that."
He held out a shining silver badge—the Zephyr Badge.
"You earned this, Alex."
Alex took the badge, grinning. "First Johto Gym down. Let's keep going."
Daniel smirked from the stands. "Don't get too comfortable, Alex. I'm next."
Cynthia chuckled. "This journey is only beginning."
