Jaden and Mari hurried down the dimly lit passageway, a mixture of relief and bitterness swelling in their hearts.
He had always been the favored son, the Alpha primed for greatness, until everything had gone wrong. He would not let this setback define him.
"I can't believe that little pup kicked me in the balls," Jaden huffed.
"And said he learned it from his Mommy," Mari stifled a laugh. Even her cold, tainted heart couldn't deny the pup was adorable.
"Why can't Della see she belongs here? With us? Why does she want to live like a rogue? With HUMANS! Like my stupid half brother. He mananges to turn my pack against me. I didn't think I was that bad of an Alpha." Jaden sighed heavily.
"We used her, and now the game's suddenly in her favor," Mari remarked, a hint of sarcasm lacing her tone as they maneuvered through the darkened corridor. "Isn't it ironic? The pawn turned into a Queen."
