Chapter 9 - Chapter 8: Newtonian and Anti-Newtonian Mechanics in the MC World

Kanzaki's words must have been too ambiguous.

Keqing and Ganyu both froze, their faces instantly turning red.

Realizing what he'd accidentally implied, Kanzaki quickly waved his hands in protest.

"Wait! No, no, no! I didn't mean that! I meant the bed is important in this world!"

"You'll understand when you lie down!"

Ganyu sighed in relief, her face still a little pink. She knew Kanzaki well enough to believe he wasn't being inappropriate.

However…

Ganyu's gaze fell on the lone bed in the room.

"...But isn't this... just one bed?" she asked, her voice soft but confused.

Kanzaki shrugged.

"This bed isn't for sleeping. When you lie down on it, you recover your strength instantly — it's a lifesaver when you're out exploring."

He paused, then suddenly bolted for the door.

"Wait here — I'm gonna grab two more beds!"

Before Keqing or Ganyu could respond, Kanzaki was already racing down the stairs.

"You're... stealing more beds?" Keqing muttered.

"Borrowing," Ganyu corrected gently, though her tone wasn't entirely confident.

Keqing sighed, shaking her head.

"I swear… Kanzaki's thriving in this world."

Ganyu chuckled softly, taking a seat on the bed.

"It's soft... actually pretty nice," she murmured.

Keqing hesitated, then sat beside her. The two of them stared quietly out the window at the bizarre, blocky landscape.

"...It's hard to believe this place exists," Keqing said quietly.

"It's like... something out of a dream. Floating leaves, torches that never burn out, the entire world built from perfect cubes..."

Ganyu nodded thoughtfully.

"But it's real, isn't it? And Kanzaki... he's been here for a year, all on his own."

Keqing sighed, leaning back on her hands.

"I'm not worried about Kanzaki betraying Liyue... If he was that kind of person, he could've turned Teyvat upside down a long time ago."

"Besides," she added, "he's a good man. Strange... but good."

Ganyu smiled.

"That's why we like being around him, right?"

The two shared a quiet laugh, their tension easing.

"But," Keqing added, pointing at the torch on the wall, "I am taking one of those magical torches back to Liyue. This thing could revolutionize our city's infrastructure."

---

Moments later, Kanzaki returned with two additional beds tucked neatly under his arm.

He hurried upstairs, proudly dropping them beside the first bed.

"Alright, problem solved!" he declared.

"Kanzaki," Ganyu asked curiously, "where... exactly did you get those?"

Kanzaki grinned.

"My good brother hooked me up!"

"...Your brother?" Ganyu blinked.

"Yup! He was happy to help."

Of course, Kanzaki had "thanked" his so-called brother by breaking into his house and ensuring he'd never need a bed again... because he no longer existed.

But Ganyu didn't need to know that.

"Anyway," Kanzaki continued, "next step — mining."

"Mining?" Keqing asked, eyebrows raised.

"Yeah," Kanzaki nodded seriously. "Remember this — in the MC world, there's one universal truth:

'If you want to be rich, plant trees and dig mines.'"

He paused dramatically, letting the wisdom sink in.

Keqing and Ganyu exchanged confused glances but nodded in unison.

"...We'll remember," Ganyu said earnestly.

"Good," Kanzaki grinned. "Now, let's gear up. I'll make some tools, and then we'll hit the mines."

Without another word, Kanzaki vaulted off the second floor, landing heavily on the ground below.

Thud!

"Ah... crap." Kanzaki winced, feeling the familiar sting in his legs.

He glanced at his health bar. Half a heart gone.

"Right..." he muttered. "Gravity's a little more aggressive here..."

Despite his Steve-like physique, the MC world still punished careless falls.

Before he could shout a warning, he felt a shadow overhead — followed by Ganyu dropping straight toward him.

"WAIT, DON'T JUMP—!"

WHAM!

Kanzaki stumbled back, catching Ganyu mid-air as she landed awkwardly in his arms.

A dull ache spread through his legs — another half-heart gone.

"...Ow."

"k-Kanzaki! Are you alright?" Ganyu stammered, her face burning red.

Kanzaki ignored the awkwardness and immediately scanned her for injuries.

"You okay?"

"I-I'm fine... but..." Ganyu's voice dropped to a whisper.

"...You didn't need to catch me like that... I'm not that fragile…"

"You are in this world," Kanzaki said firmly. "This place doesn't care if you're an Adeptus or a Treasure Hoarder — if you fall too far, you're done for."

His serious tone startled Ganyu.

"...Everyone's treated the same?" she asked.

"Yeah," Kanzaki nodded. "Even if Zhongli himself tried to flex his fancy Geo powers here, he'd still break his ankles if he fell more than three blocks."

Keqing landed safely beside them, thanks to her Thunder Wedge.

"...Are you seriously telling me that if someone as powerful as Rex Lapis tripped and fell down a cliff here… he'd just die?"

"Absolutely." Kanzaki smirked grimly.

"This world doesn't care who you are — one bad fall, and you're toast. No exceptions."

His expression hardened.

"That's why I'm warning you now — in this world, there's no mercy."

Keqing and Ganyu exchanged nervous glances, finally understanding just how dangerous this strange world could be.

"Alright," Kanzaki clapped his hands. "Let's get to work — we've got trees to cut, mines to dig, and no time to waste."

"Stick close, alright?"

Ganyu smiled softly.

"Of course," she said. "We'll follow your lead."
