Almond Jones? This particular name set off all alarms in Jayden's head; she felt as if she'd been struck by lightning. She couldn't believe the man still had the guts to call her, not with the way she had talked to him the other time. I thought they said all men had an ego; how come this one still calls? Or is he calling to get back at him? All sorts of things crossed Jayden's mind as she wondered.
Yes, Almond Jones, the man you walked out on the other time, the CEO of Jones International Enterprise and your husband-to-be. Almond was laughing hard in his mind as he said this; he knew how much she detested the word, and now that it was associated with her, she must be very infuriated.
I guess you must have been told we're getting married in less than weeks, and I'd love for us to meet and get along before the day while also discussing each other's do's and don't's.
I wouldn't want you to be angry with the arrangement of things if you didn't participate in the preparation. I also like to apologise for my grandfather's domineering attitude; he's only trying to look out for me and to also choose the best among the best for me. Almond said hoping to seek her forgiveness for the way everything developed so quickly.
That must have been very easy for you to say, so because he is looking out for you, he had to ruin someone else's happiness, right? And you talking about the best – please, I beg you, do not flatter me. There are a lot of fish in the sea, different types at that, so why me?
Things shouldn't be done in that manner. I already told you I have no interest in this, but it seems you all probably think I'm joking or that I'll come around sooner or later. You all forget that anything forced will never be sweet. I find your all requests mind-filling; I just hope you can bear the consequences and not live to regret it.
Jayden doesn't know how she could easily lie through her teeth that she'll agree to their request, but it seems it's her survival instinct that kicked in. If she should dare to say otherwise to the man, he might suspect something, and she trusts her father to directly let them get a marriage certificate without delay, so it's only better for her to pretend.
This speech of yours is as if you're threatening someone, but it's fine; I like challenging things; it makes me happy. Now that we've said all that needs to be said, will you be available for lunch this afternoon so I can forward the address to you? Almond said.
You definitely do not mean this. How can you want us to have lunch today and inform me today? Do you even know what the time says now? Well, today's lunch is not possible. I guess we have to try some other time. I'm quite busy now at work, and I have a very tight schedule for the next few days. Jayden said.
It is indeed my fault for only informing you now, but it will be of extreme benefit to us to talk in person, so can you please check your schedule and communicate the time you'll be less busy with me? Almond asked.
Alright, I'll try to do so. Jayden replied.
Okay. I'll look forward to it without waiting for him to finish talking. Almond hears the busy tone that indicates the call has been hung up; this doesn't shock him at all. He already starts to understand the young lady's attitude towards him by now; she must have been very furious to decisively hang up like that without waiting for him to finish speaking.
He immediately got back to work and had it at the back of his mind to inform Nicholas to clear some of his schedule these days, for the lady might call anytime. After some minutes, Nicholas entered to inform him that it's time to meet with Ls Empire's higher-ups.
Jayden's Apartment
The Caller and the contents of what had been said made Jayden become tense and worried; she didn't know when she'd be able to leave everything behind in this city.
She already started to lie to cover up her tracks, and it was becoming tiring day by day; she had to look for Tracy to hasten the location she had to get her to find.
She knew that person well enough to have gotten everything she asked of him ready; after all, he's so efficient and capable, finding those people is an easy task for him to do compared to her.
Now the only issue she seems to be having is the location, and she already had plans to look for Tracy about it.
It's just that the security around her is becoming tighter day by day, and she knew her father well enough to also watch over her friends and assistant, as they'll be the ones she can ask for help if at all she's planning everything.
This is getting more difficult with each passage of time; the eye watching her now passed that of a wanted fugitive.
But she believed this to be a good thing; the more her father felt he had the upper hand, the easier it was for her to get things. Once he let down his guard, although there'd definitely be casualties, she believed it shouldn't be too much for her to bear.
Her brother even secretly told her that it seems her parents are planning something, but he couldn't get what it is. The last time he called was to tell her that her mother has become more resolute in this decision, as it seems her mother has been bought over by her father, not that she was siding with him before, so it was okay for them to do as they pleased.
She remembers Almond's call and feels that if she could easily get everything done, then she might put on a facade for him without him suspecting anything, as she would not want him to come looking for her, so she won't give herself away without knowing.
How will she get through this?
