Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: Rasengan

Veigar looked up at Minato Namikaze and asked, "How do I take the test?"

Minato responded, "First, we need to determine your chakra nature."

Seeing Veigar's serious expression as he listened attentively, Minato continued, "There are five basic chakra natures: Wind, Lightning, Water, Fire, and Earth. These elements correspond to the names of the Five Great Nations and serve as the foundation of all ninjutsu."

"Every individual typically possesses one or more of these chakra natures—some have two, three, or even all five."

"Wind corresponds to Wind Release, Lightning to Lightning Release, Fire to Fire Release, Water to Water Release, and Earth to Earth Release."

"Since you don't yet know your affinity, we'll use this special paper to test it."

"This paper is highly sensitive to chakra and is made from trees specifically cultivated to absorb it. By infusing your chakra into this paper, we can determine your nature."

"If your chakra is Wind, the paper will split. If it's Lightning, it will wrinkle. If it's Water, it will become damp. If it's Fire, it will burn. And if it's Earth, it will crumble."

As soon as Minato finished explaining, Veigar nodded eagerly. "I understand."

Minato smiled. "Alright, let's begin."

Taking the chakra paper from Minato's hand, Veigar immediately channeled his chakra into it.

He was excited to see the result.

In the next instant, the paper in Veigar's hand suddenly split in half, as if sliced by an invisible blade.

Both he and Minato spoke simultaneously: "Wind?"

"Your chakra nature is Wind," Minato confirmed.

He then explained further, "Wind chakra has the ability to cut and tear through anything, making it highly effective in combat."

Veigar remained silent, but internally, he was thrilled. He possessed Wind Release chakra! That meant if he could learn the Rasengan from Minato, he might even master the S-rank technique Wind Release: Rasenshuriken!

Moreover, Minato himself had Wind Release. Could there be a more suitable teacher for him?

Once Veigar had fully processed this revelation, Minato continued, "Now, the next step is to test your chakra control."

Veigar immediately responded, "Minato-sensei, do you mean the tree-climbing and water-walking exercises?"

Minato raised an eyebrow. "You already know about them?"

Veigar nodded. "Yes! I once asked Tomohisa-sensei how to improve my chakra control, and he explained these methods to me."

"I've already completed this fundamental training."

To prove his point, Veigar casually walked over to a nearby tree and began climbing it effortlessly.

Minato watched closely, noting Veigar's precise chakra control from his smooth movements.

At this realization, Minato felt both delighted and slightly troubled. He was pleased to have such a talented student, yet at the same time, he was unsure what else he could teach Veigar in terms of chakra control.

After all, there were still some techniques he couldn't yet pass down to him.

Minato sighed and said, "Veigar, I honestly didn't expect you to have already mastered tree climbing and water walking. I haven't planned the next step yet."

"So, do you have any questions about your training that I can help with?"

Veigar thought for a moment before asking, "Sensei, do you know kenjutsu?"

Minato shook his head. "I'm sorry, but I don't practice kenjutsu, so I can't offer much guidance there."

Veigar had anticipated this answer but pressed on. "Then, can you teach me a suitable ninjutsu technique?"

His eyes shone with anticipation as he looked at Minato.

Minato fell into deep thought for a moment before replying, "Most of the jutsu I know belong to the village. I can't teach them to you without permission."

Veigar's expression fell. He understood that if a jutsu was classified as village property, a teacher needed official approval to pass it on. Additionally, a student had to complete a certain number of missions before gaining access to such techniques.

Since Veigar had yet to complete any missions, he was currently ineligible to learn village-classified jutsu.

Even Minato, despite being a Jōnin, had to abide by these regulations. Breaking them could lead to severe consequences.

Ninjutsu was a vital asset for both the village and the ninja clans. Even a seemingly weak C-rank technique was considered valuable. The secrecy surrounding ninjutsu was crucial for maintaining strategic advantage and ensuring the safety of its users.

Understanding this, Veigar nodded. "I get it, Sensei."

In truth, Veigar had only been testing the waters. His real goal was to learn the Rasengan—the A-rank technique Minato had developed after three years of research.

But judging by the situation, it seemed he wouldn't have the chance to learn it anytime soon.

Just as Veigar was processing his disappointment, Minato suddenly took a step closer, squatted down to meet his gaze, and spoke in a gentle tone. "Veigar, don't be too discouraged."

"Although I can't teach you most jutsu, I can teach you one very powerful technique."

Veigar blinked, stunned by Minato's warm smile. For a moment, it felt as if time had slowed down, and the only thing he could hear was the rapid thumping of his own heartbeat.

Before he could respond, Minato extended his hand in front of him.

"Veigar, watch closely. This is the technique I'm going to teach you."

"Rasengan."

As soon as the words left Minato's lips, a swirling sphere of pure chakra began forming in his palm, rotating rapidly with immense energy.

Veigar's eyes widened. "Rasengan?"

"Sensei, is this technique called Rasengan?" he asked, though he already knew the answer.

Minato dispersed the sphere and nodded with a smile. "That's right. The jutsu I just demonstrated is called Rasengan. It's an A-rank ninjutsu, and as of now, I am the only one who has mastered it. It possesses incredible destructive power."

"But before I teach it to you, I have one requirement…"
