Chapter 87 - 87. The decency

After Suk's departure, the Athamana's team, led by Achilleus, headed towards the territory of the Vojks. Their journey, as usual, was uneventful thanks to the Motumisz boy, so they were able to reach their destination relatively quickly. Though in the same way as last time Wandi took the lead at the border of Vojks. Unlike the previous time, the team moved much more calmly through the landscape filled with lava rivers. And then two days later they finally made it to Éjifény.

After learning in Chájna how well the danovuses could hear, the Athamanas were not surprised that Wandi's parents were already waiting for them. Although it had to be admitted that, in Rahul's opinion, the Vojks' warm welcome still left something to be reproached, but then these danovuses were just such strange hermits, and the chüvigh boy preferred not to question their behavior.

"Welcome." The head of the Vojk tribe nodded when the Athamanas reached the hall to announce their arrival. "I see your friend is cured." The man looked at Teveli, who bowed politely.

"Yes, Chieftain. Thanks to the spirits I have been cured, thank you for your concern." Tev said in a measured voice, then straightened out and remained silent.

"I'm glad to hear that. So what wind blew you back to our land?" The leader of the Vojks asked the question, looking directly at Razvan, who, on the other hand, did not show the slightest sign of wanting to speak.

"I want to get the last nail, father." Wandi announced, with which he managed to get the chieftain's so far bored gaze to turn to him nervously.

"Really?" The quiet question came.

"Yes. I think it's about time." Wandi straightened bravely.

"So be it. Take your friends to rest, we will hold the ceremony in two days." The man said seriously. "And explain to your friends how they should behave." The man turned his back on the team and left the room.

"Come, please." Wandi looked at the team with a regretful smile on his lips, then led them to the house where they stayed last time.

"Wandi, what..." Citar began, but at that moment Etele appeared and covered his mouth, and when he looked at the team, he raised the index finger of his free hand in front of his mouth. After everyone nodded, Etele let Citar go, then stood in front of Rahul and tilted his head to the side with a smile, before the chüvigh boy rolled his eyes and closed his eyes with another nod.

Etele overtook Rahul's body in front of the Athamanas, and then, without opening the boy's eyes, reached for his belt and pulled out a small purse out of nowhere. Thanks to Razvan, the team now knew that the ghost did not pull the purse out of thin air, but from the bag that had been made invisible. Etele, in Rahul's body, opened the small purse and started drawing a strange summoning circle on the floor with the sand inside. When he was done, he put the purse away and made a few hand movements that the hegins had never seen before, then he smiled and simply left Rahul's body.

"Well, this way you could talk freely. Even the daimon king can't get through this." Etele dusted off his hands, but the movement made no sound.

"I still hate it when you do that, grandpa." Rahul pressed his neck.

"Is this really working?" Asked Teveli, who, holding his chin and crouching on the ground, was inspecting the work of the ghost.

"Svihák is the best in such things, if he says impenetrable, then it is." Razvan folded his arms in front of him. "Thank you." He nodded towards Etele.

"Come on, you're welcome boss!" He waved and then sat down on the ground.

"I'm sorry about my father." Wandi looked over the team.

"Don't sweat it! He is better than mine." Benkó rolled his eyes.

"Even then he shouldn't have assumed that you couldn't be polite." The danovus boy pressed his mouth in a straight line and sat down on one of the beds. "But he was right that it's better if I tell you what usually happens at a time like this. Just so you don't get surprised." He sighed.

"Oh, that sounds like tale time." Achilleus grinned. "Peeing boy put your ass further away!" He pushed Benkó's shoulder.

"Hey, watch what you're doing, gravel!" The Bokló boy grumbled, but he was already sitting on the bed to settle next to his friend. Teveli simply sat down on the ground next to the summoning circle and, although he didn't take his eyes off the sand pattern, the team was aware that he was listening to the proceedings.

"Tapló boss?" Rahul tilted his head to the side as he pointed to one of the beds. And Razvan nodded and took a seat.

"Come." He patted the bed on his right, and Rahul sat down next to him, shaking his head but smiling. And Citar didn't even wait for anyone to offer him a seat, he simply plopped down next to Wandi and looked at his friend curiously.

"So how does it usually go?" Citar asked after long silent minutes, not taking his eyes off Wandi's face. The sanovus sighed and then closed his eyes.

"Things are moving a bit fast at the moment. The prepared danovus usually has four days before the ceremony, he gave me only two." The boy frowned. "Inserting the fifth nail is a very important moment in the life of a danovus. From then on, you are truly considered an adult. Your energies, your soul and your mind must be clear when you get the nail because if you don't, you will go crazy. And nobody wants to meet a crazy danovus."

"So you should prepare yourself for those four days?" Teveli interrupted, still looking at the summoning circle.

"Yes. For most, even four days is almost not enough. I don't understand why he wants me to do it in two days. But that means I have to be completely alone until then." The boy clamped his mouth shut.

"You are scared for us." Citar says surprised, and with his words he managed to get Wandi to look at him immediately. The Bolacsuk boy kindly smiled back at him. "You're afraid we'll get into trouble if you're not around, right?" He only got a nod in response to the question.

"Don't worry, danovus child, if any of your kind wants to touch the team with even a finger, they will have to deal with me." Etele grinned and to justify his words, the wooden structure of the house began to shake, then immediately calmed down. "They can't hurt a ghost, but I can hurt them." Etele giggled.

"If you are too reckless, you will become a hungry ghost!" Teveli raised his head.

"Calm down, little one, I've done things that should make me a hungry ghost and yet I'm here, completely normal." The ghost relative chuckled.

"You were never normal!" Rahul and Razvan suddenly spoke at the same time, which made everyone giggle.

"Thank you for taking care of them." Wandi looked gratefully at the ghost.

"It's nothing." Etele shook his head.

"So how are we supposed to behave while you empty your mind?" Citar asked the question, which got Wandi to start explaining how the team should behave in such a way that the danovuses notice their presence as little as possible, since the period before the ceremony is a very important part of their culture, especially if the ceremony takes place with a member of the chief's family.
