Chapter 104 - 104. Mimicry

After spending the afternoon at Míngrizimen's tailoress, the group of Athamanas took a dip in the nearby beach and played a game with the local children. When they were all tired, they returned to Rahul's house on the edge of the village and after a nice dinner, they went to bed for the night. The next morning, the group excitedly approached the tailor's shop again.

They didn't have to wait a minute, even though the small sign on the door said 'Closed'. Yet, they had barely reached the door and Rahul had not even raised his hand to knock when the door opened and a broadly grinning Marianne stood inside it, looking at the hegins with the same enthusiasm as the day before when she had designed their clothes.

"I thought you would never get here! Come, come! I want to see how they fit and if I need to improve anything on them." She ushered the group inside, then led them to a room where there were several chairs and one wall was completely covered with mirrors. "Teveli, please come, I'll start with you." The woman hugged the boy in blue and pulled him after her.

"I think it's better if we sit down. If Marianne wants to give a presentation, then she will definitely give a presentation." Rahul sighed as he took a seat on one of the chairs, and the others slowly followed his example. After a few minutes, the woman appeared in the doorway.

"Close your eyes!" She grinned, and when she was sure that everyone had done as she asked, she led Teveli, with his eyes closed, into the room in front of the mirrors. "And now you can look." The tailoress proudly placed her hands on her hips.

"That turul bird whistling on the copper tree! Tev, I hardly recognize you." Suk squealed, but the aforementioned one just looked at the mirror with blinking eyes.

"Is this really me?" He pointed to himself in the reflected surface and looked at Marianne, who started to giggle.

"You bet you are. Now, take a seat. Achilleus, you come next." The woman nodded towards the door, whereupon the Motumisz boy followed her.

"Isn't it uncomfortable?" Benkó leaned over to Teveli.

"As a matter of fact, you can move around quite well in it." Teveli started to do training movements and really moved easily in the clothes.

"No peeking, boys!" The tailoress opened the door again and when everyone closed their eyes, she introduced her next victim. "And now look."

"Oh, I like this hat!" Achilleus grabbed the brim of his hat and grinned into the mirror

"I'm glad about that, the mining earthers always wear hats anyway, but theirs are so old-fashioned that a change was needed." The woman explained. "Suk, your turn, come on, come on." The woman signaled to the aforementioned, then came back with him a few minutes later, like the previous two cases.

"I'll be curious to see how you like it. Look." Marianne said, folding her arms in front of her.

"These gloves look very good, but what the hell is this pattern?" Suk grabbed the fabric.

"You're a pill maker. You have to indicate your status, otherwise they'll look at you like you are crazy and as easily as you talked about murder..." She grimaced here. "The only group of pill makers I could think of were the hot-headed ones, so you got their sample. Benkó, it's your turn." She caught the boy's hand.

"It's strange to see you without a scarf." Citar chuckled.

"Just wait for your turn Bolacsuk." Suk stuck out his tongue. And when Marianne came back they closed their eyes again.

"Look at yourself." The woman declared.

"This is amazing!" Benkó's eyes sparkled and he spun around so part of his clothes spun around him like a veil. "Insanely good!" He grinned as if he had received a gift.

"I knew you would like it. Wandi, come show the others what you have!" Marianne waved and led the danovus away, with whom she returned less than two minutes later.

"Perfect. Just as I thought. Thank you, Marianne." The danovus smiled at the woman, who started to grin broadly.

"It's easy with a good customer. Citar! Come, you are next." The woman clapped her hands and took Citar with her, then returned with him.

"Look at me! I look so good!" Citar winked at himself when he saw his reflection in the mirror, wearing gloves without fingers and a simple lilac shirt.

"That's good to hear. Razvan, your turn." The woman waved and turned around and led the leader of the Athamanas out.

"I never thought that such a color would suit you, Bolacsuk, but I guess I was wrong." Benkó laughed. "You look like lavender!"

"I'll give you lavender, boy in a skirt!" Citar clenched his hands into fists.

"Boys, I don't think you should fight now, it's inappropriate in front of the ladies." Rahul nodded towards the door, whereupon both of them apologized and the team closed their eyes together.

"Okay, you can take a look." Marianne announced.

"Wow, boss. It looks very good." Achilleus praised the set with a grin.

"Simple but elegant, I couldn't resist the embroidery." The tailoress grinned broadly. "Rahul dear, you didn't think you could get away, did you! Come, come!" The woman stopped him in his tracks and pulled him away, then returned with him a few minutes later to introduce him to the team.

"Perfect work, as always, Marianne." Rahul put his hands on his hips, then turned a little to get a better look at himself. He had a coat over a shirt which was his signature blue color.

"You look very good." Razvan smiled.

"Okay boys, now follow me!" The tailoress clapped her hands, and the Athamanas started following her in surprise into another room. "Don't tell anyone a word about what you're about to see. Especially you don't tell anyone anything, Rahul, because you know what it is." The woman said seriously.

"Marianne, what are you talking about?" Rahul asked, but the woman just started grinning.

"I got a photocopy machine." The tailoress got excited, and Rahul's eyes widened.

"Where did you get such a well-trained little nyiumgyi?" The boy gasped.

"It was a gift. Now, over to the wall, I'll show you how to stand." The woman began to explain, then when she was finished she walked to a small cage on the other side of the room, from where she returned with a nyiumgyi barely the size of a palm. "Smile! Perfect. This will be the advertisement for my new collection." The woman grinned.

"What do we owe you, Marianne?" Rahul stood up and stepped in front of the woman.

"Nothing." The tailoress declared. "You know that if I have inspiration, I will even drag little Jim in from the street for a fitting."

"Yes, but if he can't pay for it, little Jim's clothes will end up on the marquis' son and you will grumble that it doesn't suit him." Rahul looked at Marianne seriously.

"A gift for you and your friends. Don't object! Now I have a lot of inspiration, let me work." She ushered the team out of the house.

"That was interesting." Citar remarked, and they all started giggling.

"Rahul!" A shout came from the village, and when they looked, they saw the Father. "Thank the Onegod, that I reached you in time. Last night, the Onegod visited me in my dream and gave me this." He took out a snow-white leaf. "He said to give it to you, with this he will give his blessing to you and protect you." The Father explained, then nodded as he handed it to Rahul. "I wish you good luck on your journey." He said this before turning and leaving.

"That's strange, what are you going to..." Citar hadn't even finished the question when the white leaf flashed brightly, then simply disappeared.

"I don't think I had to do anything." Rahul shrugged. "We'd better get going, it's a long way to Floating Air." The boy smiled and stepped next to Razvan so they could continue west.
