After Athira's grand speech, in which he told his hegins and men that here among these mighty mountains would be the new home of their people, the usual bustle returned to the camps. Teams were organized, plans were made, explorations were planned, and Kamu and his team listened to all of this carefully, while fulfilling various requests.
Barely a year had passed before Kamu, while pretending to be asleep, listened with a smile on his face as Athira's camp spoke of the organization called the Mist with respect and admiration mixed with fear. Based on his observations, no one knew much about them, but the little they did know was enough for them to be considered the best even then.
The black ravens that brought their requests arrived daily in the nearby mountains, where Kamu and Ajtony held the Mist headquarters at the time. Although even then, someone personally visited them under the cover of night. The twenty or twenty-five-man of the Mist accepted every request and always collected the payment. This operation was also carried out through the black ravens in order to preserve their anonymity.
When they eliminated a target, they sent a letter to the client with a black raven, which was always the same except for the amount to be paid. 'Please leave the payment on the letter on the ground.' When the client acted according to the instructions, the money and the letter became nothing after a strange summoning circle flashed, and the raven carrying the letter left with a cawing.
Although the system was not yet perfect, it suited everyone in the Mist in that situation. Or if there were doubts, no one complained about it to Kamu or Ajtony. However, when an order signed by a name well known to everyone arrived one evening, the entire Mist was in turmoil. The team received not one, but two orders from none other than the great Athira.
Kamu and Ajtony immediately began to enthusiastically organize the two teams that would carry out the assignment under their leadership. So in less than a week, on the evening that Athira himself had designated, three powerful and influential hegin leaders died. Two of them were killed by the Mist, and the third, in the greatest secrecy, by Athira himself.
Thanks to Teike, Kamu knew that their request was probably the result of a political move. According to the ghost, there is no easier way to stop the rebels than to exterminate the leaders, if you want complete power, eliminate your opponents. Therefore, Kamu was not surprised that the news of the deaths reached all of Athira's camps the next morning.
"Ah, Kamu. There you are! Svihák has been looking for you everywhere!" Athira, who was playing General Csito, approached Kamu, who was still doing his sleep for the day.
"General!" Kamu smiled up at him from the base of the tree. "Forgive me, you know what I am like." He scratched his neck and stood up. "If father is looking for me, then I'd better go as soon as possible." He pulled himself up.
"Sure." Csito nodded, then looked towards the group that was passing by, talking furiously. "They are not the first today to be so restless. I wonder what happened." The man put his hands on his hips.
"Didn't you hear, General? They say that three important people of Grand Leader Athira died last night. They were killed, but no one knows who or how. As a matter of fact, I was worried about you for a minute, but I know that Riki is here and wouldn't let anyone harm you." Kamu grinned, as if he wasn't aware that he was facing his client.
"Hm... Maybe your skills are good for something after all." The leader remarked, which made Kamu feel extremely proud.
"Wait! Stop! Stop! Stop!" Etele suddenly interrupted in the present, and at his words everyone turned to him.
"Yes?" Kamu tilted his head to the side.
"This Mist, is that Mist?" The ghost asked, constantly pointing around them and never taking his ghost eyes off Kamu for a moment.
"Yes." The ghost-man said slowly, then shook his head. "Did ir took you this long to click, father? You should theoretically be a genius." The man chuckled.
"That good..." Etele muttered to himself, to which Kamu just shrugged.
"So yes. I knew I got exposed by you, but it was worth the praise." He grinned at Razvan, but the leader of the Athamanas was shocked, just like Etele. "Or did I not?" Kamu frowned.
"Would you believe me if I said that I thought about using you as a spy just that time?" Razvan muttered.
"Well, if I really didn't expose myself, then yes, but why didn't you ask me?" Kamu asked back.
"Because the next time I saw you, you were snoring again." The young leader rolled his eyes.
"That's right. But if you didn't know that I was the leader of the Mist, why did you hire us?" Kamu scratched his head, while Razvan looked at Etele.
"Because I told him that the Mist was the best solution if he didn't want to tell anyone besides me that he wanted to kill three of his main men." Etele folded his arms in front of him, and Kamu started blinking at his words. "Your reputation was too good. I couldn't help it. I heard that all you have to do is tell you a time and poof, it's done, without a mistake and I was right. I just didn't know that you were in charge of the Mist." Etele held his head.
"What would you have done, if you knew?" Kamu wondered.
"Based on how I knew you. I wouldn't have recommend you to the Tapló leader." Etele shrugged.
"Can we get back to the fact that you looked into my friends?" Kele interrupted grumpily.
"Oh, don't be such a bigot. I looked into everyone, it's just a security thing." Kamu grinned here. "As for that." He snapped one. "Biaskoncy, look into the team. I want to know everything about each of them. But be very careful, the team leader is good at hiding his tracks, as you know." Kamu gave the order in the language used by the Immortal Mist, whereupon the aforementioned straightened out and nodded.
"Yes, Ishán." Biaskoncy replied.
"What did we miss?" Citar stammered.
"Nothing, don't worry." Kamu waved. "Well, where was I?" He put his index finger to his chin, then nodded. "Got it! So after the request, things quieted down around us again, Kele moved away, Keche and Laik finally become a couple, so everyone lived their own little lives. Then one evening I got the assignment that changed our history. I will never forget it. The client pressed a small piece of parchment into my hand." He clenched his right hand into a fist, as if the piece of paper was still there. "Then he said, 'I want you to kill him as soon as possible.' I opened the parchment, read the name, and looked up, but the person who ordered it was nowhere to be found. The parchment said: Athira."
