Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 – The Notebook Xiaoyu Brought Back

(T/N: Finally the magic cat decided to bring some more things.)

After returning to the Uchiha compound, the very first thing Kaze did was prepare a special dinner for Xiaoyu.

He had gone out of his way to buy a fresh crucian carp and gather some wild mug wort.

If you wanted to make fish taste good, mug wort was an excellent seasoning. It wasn't rare either—you could find it growing wild on hillsides, along roads, or near fields. Just tossing a handful into the pot while stewing the fish would elevate the flavor to a whole new level.

(T/N: I don't know if these things exist in Naruto or not, but I'll just imagine they do exist.)

Needless to say, when it came to Xiaoyu's meals, Kaze put in real effort.

"Fish soup's ready~"

After a round of busy work, Kaze split the stewed crucian carp in half and poured it into Xiaoyu's food bowl along with the fragrant broth. Then he carefully carried it over to Xiaoyu's usual dining spot.

"Huh? Where's Xiaoyu?"

It was only then that he noticed the cat—who had been lounging by the door just moments ago—was suddenly nowhere to be found.

"Xiaoyu?"

Raising his voice slightly, Kaze started looking around the house for her.

It was weird.

Usually, before he even finished cooking, Xiaoyu would already be circling around him, practically drooling at the smell.

But now? No sign of her.

Did she sneak off for a romantic rendezvous with one of the neighborhood tomcats or something?

"Well, guess I'll eat first while I wait."

With no sign of the cat, Kaze just sat down and began eating.

But the moment he picked up his chopsticks, a faint noise came from the window.

Kaze instinctively put down his bowl and turned his head, ready to scold Xiaoyu for wandering off again.

But then he saw it—

Xiaoyu was back, and she had something in her mouth.

Clutched between her teeth was a leather-bound notebook, looking quite high-end.

*Plop*

Xiaoyu leapt down from the window, head held high like a little queen—though her head was barely bigger than Kaze's fist, she carried herself with the pride of someone ten times her size.

With her paws landing in a perfectly straight line, she strolled toward the dining table as if she owned the place. Her back legs bent slightly, tail flicking with just the right amount of flair, like she was striking a pose.

Then, with a powerful push of all four limbs, she soared—clearing the one-meter-high table without breaking a sweat.

In the blink of an eye, she was up.

Xiaoyu loosened her jaw, and with a soft thunk, the leather-bound notebook she'd been carrying dropped right onto the table.

Without sparing Kaze so much as a glance, she casually walked over to the steaming bowl of fish soup, lowered her proud little head, and started lapping up the broth with her pink tongue—slurp slurp—as if she hadn't just made a dramatic entrance like some feline action hero.

It was so smooth, so natural, that Kaze could only sit there, stunned.

"…Your dinner is over there, you know!" he finally blurted out after four or five full seconds of being dumbfounded.

Still, compared to Xiaoyu's food-thief moment, Kaze's attention quickly shifted back to the notebook she'd brought.

After all, the last time Xiaoyu randomly dragged something home, it turned out to be a Devil Fruit straight out of the One Piece world.

And not just any Devil Fruit—but a damn Logia-type!

So this time… was this notebook also from another world?

Something like…

Death Note, maybe?

(T/N: Why am I so tempted to change the book into an actual death note. Maybe I should write a fanfic like that some day. What do you think?)

"…Man, what am I even thinking?"

Even Kaze couldn't help but roast himself a little for that wild train of thought.

Still, it wouldn't be the strangest thing Xiaoyu had done. For all he knew, she could've just swiped it from the local convenience store.

Shrugging to himself, Kaze stood up from his chair and waved off his own dinner.

"Fine. You can have the whole thing."

He picked up the mysterious notebook and gave it a little test shake.

"Damn, this thing's actually heavy…"

Just the thickness of it was impressive—easily two fingers wide.

Colorful sticky tabs jutted out from various sections of the pages, like someone had been using them to bookmark important entries.

Curious, Kaze flipped open the first page.

"After a week of pursuit, we finally found the Garen Pirates' hideout. The battle lasted from afternoon until night, and we successfully wiped out all the pirates. Although we suffered some brave casualties on our side, this sea has finally returned to peace..."

"…Huh?"

Kaze blinked, confused.

Judging by the opening paragraph, it was clearly a journal—someone's personal log.

Mentions of pirates and the navy instantly made his brain jump to one thing:

One Piece.

Especially when you consider the fact that Xiaoyu had already brought home a literal Devil Fruit before.

And now this?

A heavy-duty notebook talking about pirate battles and marines?

A wild, slightly insane thought started brewing in Kaze's mind.

Could it be…

His ninja cat Xiaoyu really had the ability to travel between worlds?

Gulp.

The idea alone made his throat go dry.

Kaze swallowed hard and slowly turned to look at Xiaoyu.

Almost like she felt his gaze, Xiaoyu paused mid-slurp, lifted her head, and looked back at him.

She licked her lips with her tiny pink tongue, then returned to enjoying the soup like nothing in the world could bother her.

Basically saying: "Don't disturb me, I'm eating."

"…Tch."

Kaze sucked in a sharp breath through his teeth, shrugged it off, and continued flipping through the notebook.

The owner hadn't signed their name anywhere, but judging by the tone and the way the entries were written, they definitely sounded like a high-ranking Marine officer.

Then, all of a sudden—

Just as Kaze was getting drawn in, another entry caught his eye—and this time, a familiar name made him freeze.

"That brat Garp really is something else. I saw him crush a cannonball mid-air with a barehanded punch today. The kid's strength is outrageous—even among the up-and-coming elites of the Navy."

"He still acts reckless, and his brain doesn't always catch up to his fists, but if he survives long enough, he's bound to become one of the Navy's most terrifying weapons."

"Honestly, I'm considering assigning him more field ops. With a bit of discipline, he might just earn that 'Hero of the Marines' title people keep joking about."

Kaze's jaw slackened slightly.

"…Crushed a cannonball with his bare hand?"

He took a deep breath, feeling his scalp tingle.

"If that's not Monkey D. Garp, the man known as the Iron Fist, then I'll eat Xiaoyu's fish bones."

An hour passed, and Kaze felt his mind rattled by the sheer implications of what he'd read.

The origins of the Rokushiki (Six Powers) were never clearly explained in the original One Piece story. Over the years, countless speculations had emerged—some credited legendary Marines, others believed it was a technique refined over generations.

"Come to think of it, if Xiaoyu really can travel to the One Piece world…" Kaze muttered to himself.

"Then the fact that it brought back the Goro Goro no Mi (Rumble-Rumble Fruit) suggests that Enel, the fruit's original user, hasn't found it yet…"

He furrowed his brow, his thoughts spiraling.

"Plus, the fact that this notebook is in such pristine condition—does it mean the One Piece world's timeline is… at the point when Garp was still young?"

"If that's the case, then it would explain why Xiaoyu brought back the Goro Goro no Mi."

With his thoughts racing, Kaze turned the pages, eagerly diving deeper into the diary.

But suddenly, his eyes widened, and his black pupils began to tremble.

"No wonder Xiaoyu brought me this notebook…" Kaze whispered, his voice barely audible.

"The owner of this diary didn't just casually document his day. He's written down the full principles and training methods for several techniques of the Rokushiki."

Kaze sat frozen, his mind struggling to process the sheer weight of what he was holding. A notebook with the potential to unlock some of the most legendary and used combat skills in the One Piece world—skills Kaze could never have dreamed of obtaining. What was even more amazing was that Xiaoyu, his ninja cat, had brought it to him.

This was a game-changer.

(T/N: Ahhh, my poor brain cells, I practically had to put them on life support just to remake this version so y'all don't come at me with pitchforks. The OG writer thinks Garp invented Rokushiki, but honestly, I'm pretty sure Joyboy probably brought it from the moon. So, I had to completely fix this part. Anyway, hope y'all are happy with this improved version.)
