Cooking had always been something familiar.
Something that made sense.
I didn't have to think when I cooked.
Didn't have to worry about anything else.

Why was I still thinking about her?
After training yesterday I found out Lilith had come to stay the weekend. She was college friends with Celeste. The thought of her and Kieran under the same roof ticked me off.

The way she had spoken about Kieran like she knew him in ways I never would.
It shouldn't have bothered me.
But it did.
And now, I was taking it out on the dough I was kneading, pressing into it harder than necessary,I wanted to make pizza for breakfast. I always craved savoury foods when upset.
Mara glanced at me from across the kitchen. "That poor dough didn't do anything to you."
I huffed. "It's fine."
"You've been scowling since yesterday."
I said nothing.
Because she wasn't wrong.
